Description
Michael Travers gambled on love and lost big. When the woman of his dreams rejected him, he locked his heart up and went to work. Money has been his mantra, god, and king ever since. But when his job at Families, Inc. sends him to fix the competition for a large corporation, it lands Michael right back into the life of the woman who broke her heart.
Growing up poor Sadonna Alston learned the value of hard work and following the rules. It’s what got her a scholarship to college, and pushed her to open her own non-profit company called Quality Homes. Now, someone is breaking the rules and putting all her hard work at risk.
Families, Inc. wants to buy her out and they’ll use any trick they can -including pitting her against the man who once held her heart.
As old feelings resurface, will Sadonna and Michael be able to keep their careers, and not lose their hearts? With everything they love on the line, Sadonna and Michael will need to decide if they have a love that breaks all the rules, or one that makes the rules.
Love under Contract is a sweet romance, with a touch of mystery, and a dash of intrigue that will make you believe in a second chance to get it right.

This was an entertaining book. Sadonna and Michael knew each other when they were teenagers, then went separate ways. Now they are meeting again, ten years later, in a business deal where each represents a different side. Although there were typos and grammatical errors in the book, I enjoyed reading about how these two worked out both their professional and their personal relationships.
This story goes to show the power of compassion, especially how one caring adult can create such a world of difference in a child's life. But, you're not here for that, well...for a slow start, I'd say that Michael and Sadonna are two stubborn adults who grew up in difficult homes and somehow found their way/purpose in life. The only thing that as a reader you're left asking is whether they forgave themselves for their decisions in the past.
If there's one character I totally loved, it was Pop! The old man is a gem of patience and wisdom and makes the characters vibrant. I made a voluntary request to NetGalley to read this book and my final take is that, it's a short, sweet romance, one that comes with a cranky old man called Pop.
Such a riveting book! Couldn't put it down and will definitely be reccomending it to customers at my work!
Do you believe in second chances? If so, Love Under Contract is the book for you.
I think the plot showed promise here but it wasn't executed well. I nearly DNF-ed this one but I pushed through. It was just okay. I can't recommend it.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
An intriguing captivating and interesting romantic tale with a little mysterious intrigue that is enticing and entertaining. It’s TLC (tender loving care) against the rough and crude and I have to tell you, it was a match worth witnessing. The storyline is beautiful, it had a wonderful flow that slowly entwines you into its pages. The characters are awesome, I have to say though, Pop’s my favorite with Lily second. I love the mix where hardcore business collides, with the women of the steel mentality and the soft touch. It is well crafted clean and sweet a delectable read. A must read I say, truly it is.
Truly and actually dreadful. I nearly didn’t finish this. There’s plotholes, inconsistencies, unexplained stuff and dialogue so genuinely terrible I started debating if this had been written by a machine. I wanted to like it - the premise is nice and the cover quite cute, but there’s nothing here for me at all.
This a story of young love and second chances. The dialog was choppy at times and hard to follow. Though there was promise with the premise of the story, it fell short of capturing my attention through to the end.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Great story. Loved the plot and the characters. I would definitely recommend this book. Such a great beach read.
Teenage Michael Travers planned to run away with his girlfriend Sadonna Alston when his drunken father beat him after his mother died. However, Sadonna wouldn’t go, refusing to leave her brother and sister behind. Twenty years later Michael is a mediator for a large non-profit Families, Inc. and he is called in to negotiate a deal with Sadonna’s non-profit company Quality Housing to acquire them. At first he wants revenge for Sadonna breaking his heart, but when his company orders him off the deal, he realizes he wants to help her. Someone within Quality is working with Families to sabotage contracts, and steal from the company. Working closely with Sadonna he realizes he still has feelings for her and wants the chance of the family he never had with her. The writing and conversations were choppy and hard to follow at times. Michael’s homeless savior Pop was funny. Sadonna was great with her nephew Christopher and would be a wonderful mother. The other ladies of Quality deserve their own romances and stories.
