Description
Lilly, a first-year school teacher is roped into chaperoning a backpacking trip over the Spider Gap glacier. Unfortunately, she cannot find a sitter for her purse-dog and must smuggle him along on the trip.
All her friskiest 6th grade students are participating as well as a handsome ski instructor who resists her efforts to organize their trip in a mathematically pleasing manner.
Can Lilly evoke a thirst for learning within her skeptical students, when she herself can barely survive the rigors of the trail?

What a hoot! Lilly is a new 6th grade math teacher, who is obsessed with charts and graphs. Naturally her students think she is weird and play tricks on her. When she gets volunteered to go on a 4 day nature hike with a group of 6 boys and 3 girls, she is out of her element, and her antics made me laugh. Smuggling her little havenese Strudel, who is a riot, she tries her best, which is all we can do. Naturally, having a handsome single leader helps too. Fun book that was hard to put down. Highly recommend this book.
This could be Legally Blonde on a camping trip with preteens, The story has lots of laugh out loud moments along with some seriousness. It is not very realistic that a camping trip like this would happen but that's what fiction is all about. Just a fun book.
I loved reading this book!! If you are looking for a book to make you laugh and forget about everything for a little while this is it. The author writes in such a way that you feel like you are right there in the book. This is the first book I've read of Kristen Joy Wilks, but it won't be the last. Thank you NetGalley and Pelican Book Group for an ARC copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Lilly is just over her head on this camping trip. It was more along the lines of inexperienced city girl attempts to go camping in designer jeans and sneakers, she is so ill prepared for this adventure, it is almost annoying at how she treats everyone. Then she brings her dog along on this hiking trip and for pages and pages we read about good doogie. Tristan is very patient and is a strong leading man in this book. He has the respect of the kids and seems to know what he is doing on this adventure, just wish Lilly would have listened to him early on in this book and been receptive to his ideas. So much of this book is far fetched and it's hard to related to the characters.
