Description
Jennifer Zilm's poetry collection, The Missing Field, concerns themes of translation, preservation and the engagement with the transitory documents of everyday life, whether a snapshot of a Vancouver bus, postcards from the Middle East, lecture notes on Euripides, a van Gogh museum catalogue or marginalia in a water-damaged collection of Rilke poems.

I loved that this collection of poetry centers on the idea of the ordinary and every day and does this with the use of everyday ephemera. This is a really smart way to arrange the pieces and ideas thematically. I liked how, although it's about the ordinary, it is still full of colorful and textured imagery and language that evokes the senses. Overall, this was a beautiful collection of poetry that is richly layered.
