Description
Lizzie’s Dream follows the story of a young girl in 1915, who wants to be a governess. Lizzie works at the mill alongside her working class family, which makes her dream job seem unattainable. When she meets a young soldier, Harry, who is stationed nearby, there is an instant attraction.
Against the backdrop of War, the blossoming romance is abruptly cut short as Harry is sent away. Lizzie tries to forget him and pursue her dream instead, but her feelings aren’t easy to fight. She becomes a companion to the mill owner’s daughter Molly, who is too ill to attend school. They quickly become friends, and Lizzie starts to teach her everything she knows. Her dream is starting to become a reality.
Meanwhile, Harry has been wounded and is in a military hospital in Blackburn. Just when Lizzie has almost forgotten about him, she receives a letter which could change everything.

I liked this book a lot and yes I would recommend others read it as well. I was able to read it in 1/2 a day. Very short read but good read and kept my attention .. 5 star read...I have tried 3 times to give a review and message says goodreads has not got this book listed, nor does any the other sites . My review is rejected. WHY?

I so adored this book! It has brilliant main characters, an excellent plot and it kept me engrossed all the way through. I would highly recommend this book.

Beautiful love story between Lizzie & Harry & especially so with the trials & tribulations of WW1 hanging over everyone 's life.
I especially enjoy this period in History & want to thank Netgalley, author & publisher for offering this little gem & allowing me to read it for free.
Would & will recommend this to anyone interested in this time in History.

Lizzie's Dream by Beverley J Tucker is a historical romance set during World War I. It is a work of fiction but has facts woven through out. The horrors of that war can never truly be known by us. We owe so many, so much. It is a debt we cannot repay.
Set from 1915 to 1921 the novel is written from two points of view - the soldier at the Front and a young lady on the home front. Both parties suffer - one from unbelievable horrors, the other from the stress of not knowing how loved ones are plus the ordinary everyday worries of life.
A bygone era comes to life under the masterful pen of Beverley Tucker. The reader gets a taste of both a close knit community and family.
I really enjoyed Lizzie's Dream and am looking forward to the follow up, William's War.
One thing I noticed as a historian... the facts surrounding Christmas 1915 were actually from Christmas 1914 but this did not in any way detract from my enjoyment of the story.
I received this book for free from Net Galley. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
