Description
She needs a fresh start. He needs her to see how he’s changed. Can time really heal everything…even a broken heart?
Sixteen years ago, rejected by her high school sweetheart, Cam Riley ran straight into the arms of a man who wouldn’t hurt her. Or so she thought. Now, reeling from a painful divorce, and with a troubled teenager in tow, Cam is headed home to heal and start over.
When Officer Evan Anderson pulls over the black SUV with out of state plates, he can hardly believe his eyes when the woman behind the wheel turns out to be none other than his first love. All those years ago, he hadn’t been good enough for her, and he knew it. But time has a way of changing things, and the badge on his chest isn’t the only thing new.
Cam’s got her hands full trying to keep her daughter out of trouble and come to grips with her new life. The last thing she needs is to get involved with Evan again. He broke her heart once; she’s not about to let it happen again. But their attraction is hard to ignore, and the connection that existed between them so many years ago is still very much alive.
This could be the second chance they’ve always wanted, but there are years of hurt and misunderstandings between them. Never mind the truth of the past and the reality of the present that could once again threaten to pull them apart. This time for good.

A good, fun read. I did not like the fact that Cam and Evan resumed their relationship before Cam's divorce was final and there were times when Morgan's behavior seemed weird and unexpected but... Overall I enjoyed meeting the characters. There was sufficient drama to be entertaining but not so much that you felt overwhelmed.
A sweet story. It is very much like the Harlequin Romance novels. There are parts I found heart warming but there is the drama to balance the story. This is an easy read and is perfect for a vacation read.
This is actually one of those feel good books. It is not over powering, but it is those kinds, that makes you feel good that you are alive, and you have people that cares for you.
The past between Cam and Evan was a good way to start the series. Its not that heavy, but more on the lighter side of love. Yeah, so there are conflicts but, as you read the book, you can relate how Cam's kid felt. The way the story was told was simple and there are times that i cannot help but laugh,
One of the best things about the book was the set of friends that Cam had. You can see that the paradise each of them had before Cam when away was slowly crumbing and, they are trying to save everything, You can see how much they love each other though,
I give this 4.5 stars,.
Evan and Cam fell in love as teenagers., but Evan had some rough edges and a tendency to get in trouble. Although he and Cam talked about marriage, he didn’t feel ready or like he deserved her yet. He decided to join thr service to make something of himself before returning to Cam. Unfortunately, so sabotage by Evan’s mother led Cam to leave town. She entered a rebound relationship and got pregnant, leading her to marry her baby’s father. Sixteen years later, she is betrayed by her husband and returns to her hometown. She and Evan reconnect as mature adults who fall in love all over again, despite the challenges of parenting a teenager. The author introduced many other characters who will probably star in future books. This was a sweet story that was a relaxing read on a rainy afternoon!
What a fantastic book this is with brilliant storyline and characters and I will look forward to reading more from you from this author thank you for my arc
I had the honor to read the beginnings of this book a couple of years ago during this authors idea stage, and I must say, it was a really cool experience. Two years later, I get to read the final product, and it’s a pretty good story. Loved Cam and Evan’s history, although having shared so much as teenagers I didn’t like the fact he just took off without having said goodbye to her. Years later she’s back in town with her teenager, headed for divorce after finding out her husband had a very public affair. I loathe cheaters, so it was great to see that Cam took her daughter back to the place where she felt most comfortable, Timber Creek. Loved the small town environment, loved that Cam’s high school friends were still there to be her support system, and really loved that Evan was now the hot Sheriff in town! Didn’t care for the cruel attitude Morgan had, just got kind of old, but after the chain of events it was nice that things settled down. Overall a really good story. Looking forward to reading about Christy and Mark.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
Sweet read-When Evan abruptly left town years ago, Cam picked up the pieces and moved to Portland. Met a famous newscaster, married and had a kid. Said husband is a serial cheat and just got his co-anchor pregnant. And he wants a divorce. And he doesn't seem to care about Morgan his own daughter.
So Cam moves back to her old town and runs in Police Officer Evan her first day. He's knocked over by seeing her again, of course he knew she married and had a child. He never got over her. And now that he hears she's getting divorced, he wants another chance.
When We Left is full of drama-a teenager who rebels and keeps getting into trouble-a horrible ex (why Cam didn't get a shark for a lawyer and get what she was really entitled to, I'll never know) and two old flames for whom the embers just need a little stoking to get them burning again.
Once in love, always in live is true for Evan Anderson and Cam Riley even with sixteen years gone by and a divorce and teenage daughter for her.
This is a touching story of how things can go terribly wrong when people interfere and communication is destroyed.
Cam returns to her home town of Timber Creek when she is openly humiliated by her son to be ex husband. With her fifteen year old daughter in tow, the first person she sees is the last one she wants-Evan, her high school boyfriend. There is a lot of distance between them the Evan is determined to cover. He knows in his heart that this is their chance at last.
I absolutely love When We Left and I immediately fell in love with all of the characters especially Cam and Evan. Cam and Evan were high school sweethearts until Evan left town without telling Can. Cam and her daughter are returning to her hometown after divorce and of course the first person she sees is Evan. Evan and Can were great together and their chemistry together was wonderful. Evan was so supportive of Cam and her daughter. What a great start to a new series.
