Very heartfelt and memorable with lovely illustrations and messages throughout. I would recommend more of a practical section for the end of the book.

Heartfelt and feminist collection of short poems and stories, interspersed with gorgeous illustration that I'd love to see prints of on my wall. All in all, not your typical poetry collection, instead a call for empowerment and self-love!

4.5/5

it's never too late
to push pause
disrupt the plan
or choose an entirely new path

Danielle Doby's raw emotions flew right into the paper. She wrote freely and unapologetically, in words that hold a power over me, over you, over every women ever.

Danielle covered almost everything without going too specific, from her way to climb out the darkness and how to heal herself, a note I took with a sense of gratefulness.

you are a match for your mountain.

Every page counts, not many drawings so it absorbs my attention slowly and carefully.
Definitely recommending this for the like-minded minds.

you are worth finding
worth knowing
worth loving

you and all your one million layers

Very interesting style. Fresh approach to familiar ideas, certainly a collection for these times. I particularly enjoyed the poems that centred around zodiac.

Recommended.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I Am Her Tribe is a lovely collection of poetry about accepting your inner strength and being the bad ass woman you are. I love how much the poetry spoke to me when I was reading it, and it definitely left me feeling interconnected with the women in my life. I also quite enjoyed the doodles throughout the book.

The simplicity of this book reached inside me and touched my soul. Words have the ability to connect us with others. They can empower us or rip us to the core. I enjoyed this book because of the way the words come together and make me feel connected to others. I would recommend to my friends and read over and over.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this lovely collection of heartfelt poetry personalized with drawings. I took my time, enjoying each page. I will be buying a copy for my favorite book shelf. I only buy actual books when I fall in love with them. (#digitalreader)

I will be looking forward to reading more of Danielle Dolby. She is my tribe!

This is one of those books that sneaks up on you and that you find yourself going back to over and over. The way Doby manages to capture in words the hard to articulate emotions we often face during the day. Her poems about self-love and self-acceptance are ones that I found particular resonance with. This is a book that I will be continuously returning to when life hits its bumps and one that I'll be gifting to some of the women in my life.

Thank you to Danielle Doby, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and NetGalley for allowing me the extreme pleasure of access to an advanced reader copy of “I Am Her Tribe" for an honest review.

A brand new voice (for me) on the confessional poetry scene, of which my heart has whole-sale skipped ship and left the shore, never to return to me with, this was an instant must request for me. A collective of women all across Instagram banding together through poetry and shared sentiment in the "#MeToo" and "#ImWithHer" generations, making its mark on a new platform (after several artists of the genre have spread through Pinterest, Tumblr, and Twitter) is definitely a place I want to be watching and reading.

The photos are incredibly moving, and the poetry will at times make you smile and at other points feel like it is your own heart breaking through the words written by another. There is raw pain and staggering magic, both in the looking back and in the walking forward (into healing, or war, or life, or love, or selfhood) in this book, and I will be following this artist in her future endeavors.
