Description
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Hunter Longfellow's best work is reporting from war zones. His other passion is tracking down art thieves. An anonymous tip leads him to three sisters who advertise the ability to match couples to their soulmates. He suspects the sisters are running an antiquities theft ring, but the only way to prove it is to join their couples-only tour to Italy. For that he needs a girlfriend. Reporter Genevieve Grey's journalism professors called her fearless. When she discovers that the famous—and deliciously handsome—Hunter Longfellow is tracking down a story but needs a girlfriend for an undercover assignment, she jumps at the chance. He claims it could be dangerous. She doesn't care. This is the chance of a lifetime. Will the story threaten not only her life but her heart as well?

3.25 A Taste of Something Different Stars
* * * 1/4 Spoiler Free
This was a taste of something different from my usual reads. I was given the opportunity to read this and the concept struck me as interesting. As another reviewer has mentioned, this doesn't fit just one genre. Instead it has the flavor of some "Out of Body, Mystical Things, some Time Travel, Mystery and Crime Investigations." It also put the idea of romance front and center, too.
Once the story started to take off, I was reminded of my past reading of Jayne Ann Krentz and her Arcane Society books. I loved those and were some of the very first romance books I read, not realizing they were major romance with a capital R. This had the promise of a mystical element, some crime and time travel.
The writing was detailed and although my past mystery reading had me figuring out the "Bad Guys" immediately, the author does weave a tale. This is the fourth in the series so I know the author has a solid following.
The blurb of this book caught my interest right away. While the execution wasn't quite what I expected, it was still enjoyable. This book seemed to be romantic suspense from the blurb, but it included fantasy/sci-fi as well. That's not my usual genre, so it took some time for me to really get into it. I did like the plot, and it kept me interested. I did think that Hunter and Genevieve went together well. This is the 4th in the series and while it stands alone, I probably would have enjoyed it more if I read the previous installments.
*I received an ARC through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Genevieve Grey is a reporter for her family's newspaper. Her fiancee also, works there. She is doing a feature story on the Matchmaker Café. This café is unlike any other matchmaking service. She stops in the cafe for a coffee and talks to a very handsome man. She doesn't know that he is Hunter Longfellow, a Pulitzer prize-winning jour and a treasure hunter who finds things that go missing. Hunter has to go on a trip thru the matchmaking service so he can investigate a theft ring. Just one thing is missing and that's a partner to go with him. He needs a girlfriend or someone who is pretending to be one. Genevieve goes as she loves a mystery and she really likes Hunter. Mysyery, romance and danger are in the cards for Hunter and Genevieve. Will they survive the trip and find the theft ring? I loved this book and want to read all by this author. I received this book from Net Galley and The Wild Rose Press for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.
