I received a free copy of DICKENSEN ACADEMY by Christine Grabowski in exchange for an honest review. We meet Autumn Mattison on her first day of ninth grade. She has just arrived at Dickensen Academy for orientation. Autumn is sad to leave her friends, brother, and mother, but she’s excited to spend some time away from her hypercritical, micromanaging father. Autumn is determined to step outside of her routine behavior to become who she wants to be. This is Autumn’s journey to finding herself, her path, and her personal power while overcoming the low self-esteem caused by an emotionally abusive parent. She does this in the setting of a private boarding school rife with intrigue and mysteries. That intrigue and those mysteries are a big part of the storyline and a lot of fun, but I’m not going to spoil the surprise by discussing them in detail.
I enjoyed the book. I think you will, too.

This book was nothing like I thought it would be. Boarding School stories are a hit or miss. I liked that Dickensen Academy's mystery was different than other boarding school mysteries as it deals with dreams instead of just murder. I think this book would make a great television series. Thank you so much for allowing me to read it.
I managed to finish this book in one sitting. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The depth of the relationships was probably my favourite aspect, whether that be with the main characters friends or her family. It showed a growth and complexity that I really liked. The book was an easy read and I would recommend.
I felt this book was written for preteens and early teen by the way it was written. That age group would really enjoy it. I on the other hand had a hard time with telepathy and sending dreams especially subjects you'd be studying. Just too unrealistic to me. There were some areas which were repetitive.
I received this ARC from Net Galley for an exchange for my honest review.
I don’t know what it is with me and books about boarding schools, but I love them. Although, to be fair, when I was growing up, I did read an awful lot of Enid Blyton.
This book, I loved from page one.
This book tells the story of Autumn who is 15 years old and beginning her first term at a boarding school in America that is called Dickensen Academy.
Before long, Autumn is experiencing a lot of déjà vu and is beginning to wonder why everything (and some people at the school) is so familiar. Before long, she and her friends find out just how unique this school is.
Autumn faces all of the usual issues that a teenager has to deal with – school, boys, friends and family and we get to see Autumn thrive in this new environment where she becomes more confident and really begins to mature.
I shall be eagerly awaiting the next in the series.
A really enjoyable contemporary novel, Dickensen Academy is a prestigious school for those with a special talent. A great read if you enjoy the boarding school trope.
SUPER CREATIVE story plot, characters and flow of the novel is amazing. would not hesitate to read if there is a sequel !!!
3.5/5 stars. Dickensen Academy is a boarding school that fosters creativity in its students; it's also a boarding school that trains its students to send and receive dreams. A bit I adored was the teachers at Dickensen using dreams to allow their students to witness historical events and participate in experiences they otherwise couldn't in the waking world. It added a charming lightheartedness to the story that was sometimes needed by the reader as well as by Autumn, who struggles with homesickness, her father's expectations, and with her ability to send dreams. Fortunately she has her new friends and family to rely on and with them--and sometimes for them--she figures it out. #DickensenAcademy #NetGalley
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I loved the way this author described things. I felt like the academy was a creepy character all of its own. Which is something that I have experienced in a very long time. The MC is a very cool as she does her best to settle in her routine at her new school. There are few moments of doubt but she is not alone she has new friends that are like family. There is a lot of mysteries and questions to be answered. Then something happens back home and she has a decision to make to stay with family in Seattle or go back to Dickensen Academny. You will have to read to find out Autumn's choice.
I would like to thank The Wild Rose Press and the Netgalley website for this partnership.
I was immediately attracted by the cover of this book, you can see the young Autumn heading to school.
We learn that the Dickensen Academy is specialized in fine arts. One fine morning Autumn receives an invitation to study at this school. She doesn't want to leave her mother and brother until she faces a dream where she sees that she belongs in this school.
Far from the people she loves, she will discover and learn through this school full of things and make many friends. But the more she progresses in the classes, the more she will doubt her presence here.
A book full of suspense and twists and turns with a captivating, addictive story and characters especially the one from Autumn.
