A page-turner that sets the stage for multiple sequels (and prequels!) by creating a universe of magic that sits alongside and within our own. A gentle man afraid of his own power, an acerbic woman who is unafraid to make hard decisions, a two thousand year-old vampire and his girlfriend/thrall - all begin a journey to...we're not sure where...yet. Great fun!
