Destined for Love

Dr.Charlotte Evans has been living and working in this century since she was ten years old. She and her sister, Alex went thru a portal after being kidnapped and pushed thru. She will never go back to the 1800's as she believes her parents sold her and Alex. At least that is her plan until she is taken and told she would be going back as she has no choce. Charlotte hopes that Alex is still alive and will be with her. When Charlotte goes through the portal against her will, she finds she is close to an inn where she hopes to get work. While there, she over hears that there is a sick child that the doctor has given up to die. When Charlotte hears this, she starts caring for the girl, Prudence and she gets better. Her father, James, Lord Tyndale is impressed with Charlotte and hires her for Prudence's governess. When she gets to the estate, she finds that she loves the little girl and she and James more that like each other. The ones who stole Charlotte and Alex believe that Charlotte will be able too identify them and they try to dispose of her. There are many secrets that have been kept from Charlotte. Will she want to go back to the future or stay with James? Will she find Alex and will her parents want her back? There are villains that you don't see coming and sometimes it's hard to tell which ones they are. I usually don't like time travel books, but I decided to take a chance on this one and I'm glad I did. Great book. This book has everything I love in it...historical fiction, romance and time travel. I enjoyed the plot and characters but I found the book the to plod along at times

I am not normally a reader of time travel novels. But, I do have to admit that this book was pretty good. Just enough to keep me entertained. Good read!

This is a great read. The author makes you care about the characters. Do not think that it is all feel good just like life it takes a turn and you will find yourself wanting to rush to end of the book to find out on things turn out (don't do it). It is well written and you will not want to stop reading until you get to the end.

Charlotte Evans was time traveled to the future with her twin sister, Alex. She just recently found out Alex had survived and they have reunited. Now, 15 years later, Charlotte is being forced to return to the past, by Mr. Sawyer. She learns there are others and Sawyer's company has determined they all need to return from whence they came. In her attempt to escape, Charlotte falls through the portal and lands in the past. She is confused and in need of assistance but how will she find anyone to help her?

I enjoyed this book. The time travel was a unique twist to the story and was incorporated very well. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical romance and adventures.

I love time-travel stories so when I read this synopsis I didn’t hesitate, and all in all I didn’t regret my reading, even though some points left me puzzled.

We meet Charlotte grappling with bad guys who took her in a cave and want to force her to go through a time portal. She tries to resist but is unsuccessful, and here she is back again in the past. We learn quickly that when she was around ten, Charlotte and her sister went through the portal in the other direction, and Charlotte found herself in the present era where she was adopted and where she grew up. But for unknown reason a man about whom we’re not explained anything has decided she had to go back in her original period.

And that’s the big problem I had with this book: why and how. I think I understood this guy works in a company charged with keeping a closed watch on the time portal, but we don’t know more. The book is signaled on Amazon as the sister book for another book from the author, and it’s obviously its direct sequel as the other is about Charlotte’s sister. I suppose the explanations I wanted are in this other book. It’s too bad the author didn’t think about readers who would discover Destined for Love without having read Time for Love.

Otherwise I liked the rest of the story. Charlotte tries as much as possible to conform to habits and customs of the time, with her childhood’s memories, even if sometimes her more independent education of the 20th century shows. The hero, James, is a Regency viscount as we can see a lot in Romancelandia, but if the heroine falls for him quite quickly it’s the feelings she has for his young daughter that seem better developed.

There’s just the right amount of events more or less conventional in a historical romance, the woman ready to anything to get married, the bad guy from the past who tries to finish what he began all those years ago, plus the apparition of the sister back in the past too, all of this sprinkled with lots of internal thoughts from the heroine about her desire to come back to the future.

But all in all it’s a pleasant story and I had a good reading time. If you love time-travels you could try (but read the first before  )
