Sworn to Forget

I really enjoyed reading this book! At times it seemed a touch to long but still definitely worth the read! This is Dex and Nicki book, Dex is a CPA and although he had a terrible childhood he still has lots of love to give! Nicki is a star PR director at a major record label and has a huge hangup on commitment due to her childhood! There is a lot of twists and turns that I did not see coming!! I really love that!! I'm usually very good at guessing what's going to happen and some of the twists i could guess but some i never saw coming!! Lol definitely don't miss out on this book! It's well worth read! This was my first experience reading this author's work and I was pleasantly surprised. Nicki and Dex's story was intriguing with lots of ups and downs, twists and turns, laughs and steam -- really enjoyable read! I look forward to more from this author. A book that takes the reader through every possible emotional roller coaster possible. You get the highs and lows of life. You get love, you get heart break; you get life long friendship, you get dark secrets; you get hidden demons and you may even get a modicum of happiness. Maybe.



A lot of points resonate out of the terrifically written novel.



To go through life with preconceived ideas is just setting yourself up for failure.



You are never going to find happiness with someone if the first thing you consider is how you want to change that person.



To look for 'fatal flaws' in someone is again, setting yourself up for failure.



If there was a soundtrack to Nicki and Dex, it would be Sarah McLachlan's Push. I was brought to tears with Dex's proposal to Nicki. I nearly threw my tablet out a window with their last break up.



The Sworn Sisters connection is very relatable and a great anchor through the tumultuous lives of the Sisters. They support and challenge each other through love to bring out the best in each other.



You might say a lot of this book is how not to have a relationship. Trust must be there from day one or you are inevitably doomed. I was deeply challenged when reading this book. It is excellently written, and I recommend it to almost everyone. A hard read but one you won't be able to put down.

​​​​​Since I am a city girl at heart, I am always drawn to books that are set in a metropolitan area. It so happens that this book, Sworn To Forget by new to me author Maria Imbalzano, primarily takes place in Philadelphia, a city of which I am very familiar with. The surrounding areas that are mentioned, are also close to home. So needless to say, right off the bat this book felt very genuine. Additionally, the alluring cover caused me to be interested in the book's content. Ms. Imbalzano's writing style is easy to understand, descriptive, and brings out the true emotions of the characters. This is a hot, well-written book that is worth reading.

Public relations guru Nicki Reading, and Dex Hanover, a partner in a successful CPA firm, met on a cruise that they were both attending with other people. They shared an instant spark, which very quickly evolved into much more when they returned to the mainland. Nicki is ready to settle down, but she is not okay with starting a family. She does not believe being a mother is in her DNA. In contrast, Dex wants to settle down and become a father more than anything else in the world. At first, the lust and love they share is not enough for either of them to give up their respective views. However, as the discover more about life and each other, their needs change.

I really enjoyed this book. Nicki and Dex have amazing chemistry and their heat is scorching, both in and out of the bedroom. They are interesting characters with complicated pasts, and the author does a great job of incorporating their strengths and weaknesses. If you enjoy a novel with a strong heroine, an eclectic group of caring friends, and a hero that just won't give up, then check out this book.

It was sooooo hawwwtttt.. ufff.. Absolutely loved this one.. The main characters were a bit irritating at some points but the overall story was fantastic.. I simply loved the way the plot unfolded. Very engaging..
