This fast moving book tells the story of a werewolf and his moon drawn human mate. The author spins a fairy tale like paranormal story that is sweet and endearing. A longer book would have allowed for more character development and brought the reader into the book more.
This was my first book by this authour, just as I was getting into it ended. That is my only issue way to short.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance read.
Samantha/Sam was the first detective on the murder scene. After seeing the state of the victim she wished she’d stay in bed that day with her cat,Lucy. Sam’s partner was Hank. Sam worked hard to get her position but she still had a long way to go to earn her peer’s acceptance. Quentin stepped back even though Sam couldn’t see him she did sense him. A werewolf had killed the man. Quentin should know he was one. Adam again asked Sam out and she said no as she had many times before. Sam again sensed someone was watching her. Quentin felt an unwelcomed pang of attraction as he watched Sam earlier at the murder scene. No human had ever been able to sense him before. When Sam left the diner she heard a wolf howl and sped up and ran right into Quentin’s hard body. When she introduced herself and they shook hands Sam felt the electricity between them. Quentin said he had just moved there a week before from Montana. When Sam mentions the wolf she heard not being small Quentin knew she was right the howl was from a very large and powerful wolf. Quentin walked Sam to her car and kissed her palm slowly and Sam said she hoped she seen him around and Quentin said she could count on that Eamon said “ he’s getting out of control so he’ll become so powerful that stopping him won’t be so easy “. Liliana said it wasn’t for them to decide Eamon said something must be done. His attacks on humans has escalated and he won’t stop until he enslaves or kills them all. Lilianna wanted Eamon and everyone knew it but Eamon. Her new ploy was to bait eamon enough until he proposed to her after four hundred years. Eamon said that since Carrick Devlon moved there's already and the deaths are starting again. Than Quentin added his pack grew larger every month. Liliana said only Quentin could take him on and Quentin said he would not kill Carrick until he tried to talk sense into him and than Eamon said he will not listen to you anymore. Sam went to the mortuary to get the coroner's-Bill- report and Bill said “ the victim was killed by a wolf.” Than Joe stuck his head in and said there were three more victims. Than Sam and hank followed Joe out of the building. Later Quentin walked into the diner and asked for a piece of pie. When Sam went to leave he followed and asked if she would like to go for a drink and she takes him to her apartment to talk without other people interrupting their conversation. Quentin gave her a deep kiss but she stopped it from going any farther as she said they were going to fast. Sam felt if she didn’t know better shew had found her soulmate. Hunger sizzled in Quentin's eyes while at dinner with Sam. A hunger he had never felt for anyone let alone a human. The incredible need to bond Sam rose from his soul. Quentin and Sam became lovers after awhile. The murders had stopped after Quentin went to talk with Carrick While making love to Sam Quentin opened his eyes and seen a glow around them but he forgot about it as he and Sam found their release.
I loved this book. I also loved Quentin and Sam together and how they interacted. I also loved how Quentin respected Sam’s need to take time to know him. I was glad Sam didn’t freak out when she found out Quentin was a werewolf. This book had me from the first page until the last. I was very happy Quentin didn’t have to kill his childhood friend Carrick. I read this in one setting. I found nothing to criticize in this book happily. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.
Overall 2.5 stars.
Good werewolf has to stop the bad werewolf while good werewolf is falling for the cop investigating the killings. This book just didn't do it for me. I had a hard time with Sam as a cop. She came across to me as wimpy and immature. I pictured her stomping her feet and her indignation when being razzed by the male cops that she works with.
