Description
Freedom is dead. Long live freedom.
George Unwin-Smith is from the establishment; educated, enlightened, wearing privilege as if it were his skin. Yet he joins a ragbag of resistance fighters, the Spiders, seemingly forever on the back foot.
Maybe because of Gerry Matthews, equally well-educated, from across the Atlantic. She believes every person has a destiny, a path to follow; they just have to find it.
George is not a natural fighter. His habitat is not the battlefield or skirmishes amongst rocks and bushes, rifle and radio in hand.
Yet, somehow, he has to find a way through this impossible barrier that is the United States of Europe. He has to abandon childish images and learn that heroes are those that persevere and confide in their colleagues, pooling strengths and weaknesses as a true team.
The authorities will do anything to stop the rebels, including breaking the law; their law. It becomes a desperate struggle to turn the tide and stand up for liberty.
Far from his comfort zone, surrounded by foes and with just a handful of close friends to help him, it falls to George to lead his country to a new beginning.
This book is a must for all those looking for a future after all the fake news has flown.
