The third in a series, Fire in the Blood can be enjoyed as a standalone. However, it would be beneficial to read the first two. There comes a certain knowledge and understanding that adds to the pleasure of the story.
That being said it’s a pretty good paranormal read. The female lead is snarky and humorous in a journey that demons, fae, and magickind alike. Though the female lead is described as being a bitch, the reader expects her be stronger than she is. Instead, she is a bit flaky with a love interest, who by all accounts should be badder than he is.
The story has a sold plot and the leads have great chemistry. Enjoyable for fans of the paranormal romance genre.

This was a pretty interesting read. I didn’t realize that it was a novella and the 4th in a series. Because of that I was a little confused but I still enjoyed my introduction to Patience and her assistant Harvey as well as Faust. I do intend to go back and read the rest of the series. I recommend.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is definitely a paranormal romance. I do love paranormal reads. This one had a very strong main character. Had a very strong attitude at times as well. But this had a mix of demon and fae. I do recommend it for those of paranormal books.
Now, I did read this with out reading the first 2 books in the series. I did stand very well on its own but I am sure there were things I did not get based on the fact I had not read the first 2 books.
Super fast pace - good grief, Patience can TALK.
The author pegs Chicago accurately and moves the characters at a blurred pace to find the good and bad guys before it's too late.
A very good fantasy book with just the right amount of romance. I liked the characters to although I wanted to smack them a few times, lol!
Fast paced adventure. Patience is a character that isn’t really the good guy, but neither is she the bad guy. She has been on the wrong side of the law before but it nor even more for bending the rules than anything. After helping the Tatiana and Oberon out, she has an angry necromancer and assassins after her, not to mention an an ancient demon.
