Description
When the virus which killed millions of people is gone, humanity lives in a planet-wide quarantine enforced by an alien species.
The year is 2355. The deadly virus that killed millions of people is gone, thanks to the quarantine measures put in place by the Criterion, an alien species who appeared just in time to save the human race. In exchange for complying with their tough control measures, the Criterion promised us the technology for interstellar travel. We’ve done all they’ve asked, yet we’re still on Earth with no way of getting into deep space. The Criterion are lying to us. What they don’t know is that we’re lying to them...
Kethryn Miller is an award-winning actress, but nothing will prepare her for the role she’ll take on when a strange woman who shouldn’t be alive turns up in the city, threatening to expose the lies that have kept peace on Earth for 200 years.

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very good Sci fi novel. Part end of world and part alien invasion. The author did an amazing job interconnecting characters through their individual voices and painting a realistic picture of what it's like to live in the station and in the alien controlled cities. Each side hides secrets from each other and the author cleverly reveals each one as the story progresses.
Can't wait for the next in this series. I'm intrigued!
Every interesting book. Aliens come and help earth escape it's death throes. Book had me guessing until the end. Well thought out plot.
Earth Quarantined by D L Richardson is an engaging doomsday/alien invasion story that reveals a future Earth with a spine-chilling backstory. First in a series of a new scifi trilogy. Looking forward to the next book..
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
I like to thank Net Galley for the advance copy of Earth Quarantined by D L Richardson. This was a good keep you guessing science fiction novel where aliens come to help Earth from doom and then have other insterests in there plans for the planet. Not only does the aliens have other alternatives so do the humans. Great read till the end. Looking forward to the next book in series.
Before I launch into my review, I should state that I fully intend to read the next installment of this series. It was rough going for me at first, but chapter by chapter I became more enthralled with the story and the ending left me wanting more asap. I can't wait for the next one!
I was given a copy of this in exchange for a review and I was immediately intrigued because the premise reminded me of a couple shows I love- Colony and Fallen Skies. Once I started reading it, though, it wasn’t looking good. I did not like the first character we were introduced to, Kethryn Miller, at all and the opening chapter did not grab me. I’m glad I kept going, although I’m still not a Kethryn fan. I just don’t buy her at all- her personality, her story, her background as an actress, her friends. She made no sense to me. There was also some major suspension of disbelief on her side with the whole Parent Trap side of the plot.
Luckily, some of the other characters made up for this. It was definitely a female driven book, with some pretty strong and kick-ass characters. It was also very interesting to have the point of view from one of the high-ranking aliens, Aries. Now Aries I loved. Usually in stories like this, the alien overlords are disconnected from us, their motives unclear or ambiguous and this makes them so much more sinister. Don’t get me wrong- the Criterion were still pretty sketchy and ambiguous in Earth Quarantined, but Aries was so much more relatable, probably because her entire life was spent on Earth with humans.
There were a couple of great twists in this that I honestly didn't see coming and there is a lot of promise of future character development. Things were really starting to get going when the book ended, very action packed, so I’m definitely reading the next one. I'm excited to see where it all goes! Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me a chance to read this unique book.
I was one of the lucky people to get an ARC of this book and I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a chance to read this ahead of time and so I will give you my honest opinion.
A deadly virus kills millions of humans, but is now gone thanks to the intervention of the Criterion, an alien race that set up a system and quarantined the entire planet. They promised to give their secret into interstellar planet travel, but after years have passed, they have failed to keep their intended promise.
This is what caught my interest first and I decided that I needed to read this and I have also read some of the authors past work and I enjoyed it. I won't lie this one starts a little slow and the main character Kethryn Miller really comes off as spoiled and a b****. It was a little slow going but once you push through the first few chapters it starts to form the world and the state of it so I do see why it was written that way but it was not the best start that she has had with the last books I have read of hers.
Now that being said like a roller coaster one you are through that first climb the drop is quick and satisfying and it really takes off. So there are some major twist that you won't see coming and right when you know what is going to happen it takes a left turn when you know it was going right and this is the D L I know and love. When you think ok there is nothing else that can happen to shock you something else pops up. The ending is perfect in that this is the first book in the series and there is more to come so the ending is perfect and I am not going to give any spoilers away. I just want to say that of all the D L books I have read her endings are awesome and I cannot wait to get my hands on the others ones.
Again not the best start but trust me hang in there and you will not regret it I promise. I just hope that the next books are full of twist and turns like this one is and that they are not short. In her other books she always leaves me wanting more and not in a bad way. You are a gem D L you keep on writing books and I will keep reading them :)
Three hundred years ago humankind was almost wiped out of oblivion on the earth by an EMB-ll virus, and they had finally gotten world peace, but at what price. If they knew it would have been in virtual chains bounded on earth, unable to leave for any exploration, would they have signed on still? Now it's another sickness that eats away at them, that of insomnia, drinking to numb their boredom and other senseless useless acts to past the time. They were free, had peace and the virus was eradicated and kept abreast of or so they thought, yet, they were chained, on earth their prison with the invisible chains. I like Neah and her twin Kethryn they are the life of this story, that’s just my opinion people okay, they are not afraid of making waves because to them they are already dead. I have to say though, I didn’t expect to fall into a deep abyss with this book, but I did and you know what, it’s absolutely captivating, intriguing and exciting. I could go on and on about the happenings in this book, cause, there is a lot going on, but you need to read it yourself, it’s a superb read.
I received a copy of Earth Quarantined by D L Richardson from BooksGoSocial through NetGalley.
Most of the times I find it easy to write a review. But in this case it’s not that easy. Where to begin?
The story is set in the future, in 2355. A virus killed millions of people. But here comes the fun part, an alien race saves the day. They saved the remaining people. They promise to help humans to escape Earth. But there are rules, laws humanity has to obey. 200 years later humans still live here.
The plot is interesting if a little confusing from time to time.
There are two lead characters, Kethryn and Neah. They have a connection which is going to change their world. The story is told mostly from their points of view. I say mostly because some chapters are told by Aries, an alien. Now those chapers are the most interesting because we gain some insight into their lives, the way they think. The characters are just beginning to develop so I hope to get to know them more in future books.
I’m looking forward to the next book.
