Review to come in March on all sources mentioned on my profile.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

OMG, you guys! Imagine my delight when after many months of no new Nate we suddenly have a new Nate on Netgalley! I just had to click that Read Now button. Thankfully, I got the whole day free so I can read tons and tons of books! \o/

Right from the bat I am laughing as Nate's friends wonder why Nate hasn't done anything stupid for a week when he pops up and states he is allergic to Godfrey. :P Classic Nate. At first it did seem he was allergic to her, and I would have loved to see it be true, but you can already guess what is really going on.

What do we have in this volume? Well, for instance soccer (where Nate was clearly doing the same thing he was judging another kid for), deadly diseases (and Nate wants to sacrifice his annoying classmate Gina for it, and then later goes on the hunt for another victim which had me in stitches, Nate is dedicated to curing (or at least infecting) someone), detention (Nate meets Jody who is a goody-two-shoes, really, how did he end up in detention, he just prodded someone lightly with a pencil, dear Lord), Halloween and reports (of course Nate had to make it a bit juicier, than again I would have done that too, also why did he think it was brilliant to go as Gina? Eww.), of course tons of schoolpapers as Nate holds meetings and writes stories and comics, I loved his idea for a student lounge, dang that was a dark turn on that Cookie Cutie story, and of course there are many other things happening in these 178 pages! I had so much fun reading about all of Nate's adventures and (dumb) ideas. He is a really fabulous character though his ego could be a bit less at times as it does get a bit annoying to see him brag or act like this.

Oh, and I was surprised that Netflix exists in Nate's world. We don't always see much of technology in his world, except for a rare PC here and there, so I hadn't thought Netflix existed there.

While maybe reading a very easy book isn't the way to go for a book report if you are older, I do understand Nate's pain. A book is still a book.

I wasn't a fan of the longer one-page comics. Nate's comics are fun if they are 4 panels, but any longer and it starts getting boring.

But all in all, I had tons of fun reading this one and I can't wait for the next Nate to pop up. I need more of this silly boy.

Honestly, I don't think there will ever be a Big Nate I wouldn't buy for my children or the library. These comics are just hilarious for kids. Even my 15 year old will reread them , especially when he needs a break from serious reading. Light , fun reads are good for the soul! Thank you Netgalley and Lincoln Pierce for providing this e-galley.

Lincoln Pierce has once again brought a collection of Big Nate together to readers delight. From the logical Francis, to nemesis Gina, adorable Chad, his unrequited love for Jenny and faith that one day she will realize he is her one true love and leave Arthur behind and the ever looming Mrs Godfrey this is a series that makes you smile and is lighthearted enjoyment for readers of all ages.

You know what you are getting with a Big Nate collection - plenty of middle school hi-jinks - just see the front cover! It is like the old commercial - bet you can't read just one. And before you know it you have breezed through the whole collection and have to wait for the next Sunday to get your next fix. But the nice thing about a book, is that you can always go back and reread it!

Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to read this title!

My 9 year old Maggie read and reviewed this for #NetGalley and she LOVED it! She said it was the best of the Big Nate books and she would definitely suggest it to her friends. She laughed a lot and often would read the pages outloud for us to hear...many laugh out loud moments! Maggie loves graphic novels and discovered Big Nate a few months ago and quickly read what the library had...she was so excited to read this one in advance and read it in 2 sittings! Two very enthusiastic thumbs up from a big Big Nate fan!

OMG! This is another hilarious read from the Big Nate series. I have to say that it’s as funny as the other books in the series. This is my 3rd Big Nate book that I’ve read and reviewed. Just can’t get enough of the jokes.

From the first pages, it’s just so funny to see Nate’s battle with Ms. Godfrey. The amazing thing is sometimes his logic seems to be acceptable (if something makes you allergy, you get rid of the source). It’s just a creative way for a 6th grader to achieve his goal. Gina and Nate’s battle go beyond trick or treating. Nate dressed as Gina because Gina is (in his perception) an evil villain. And in a normal world, his friends assumed he’s secretly in love with Gina. Even Principal Nichols has an inner thought about both characters (the recreation lounge incident).

This is by far the most hilarious and entertaining title from the Big Nate series that I’ve read. I will for sure keep reading the Big Nate series and review it!

Recommend for those who love to read comedy, not afraid to have a bit of crazy adventure and crazy logic of course.

My daughter loved it! She loves all the Big Nate books. This was one especially funny....she finished it in a day and begged for more!

My 10 year old read this book, and she has read all of the other Big Nate books. She loves them! She thinks they are very funny and the illustrations are very creative. This is a great series for boys and girls from about grades 3-6. I would recommend Big Nate books to any of my students who enjoy humorous graphic novels.

Review from my 8-year-old son:

"I think that it is a funny, good book. It is funny because Bug Nate does funny things and asks for a kid's lounge in the school. It's better than some of the other books because Big Nate does more silly things in this book than in some of the others."

I read a review of a Big Nate book once from a parent who stated they were horrified by these books, and would not be comfortable giving them to their child because of how rude and disrespectful Nate is. To his friends, his dad, his teachers. He's just a little snot.

And I don't disagree, exactly, but I also completely see why this series is a big hit with kids. Even the most polite child in the class has dreams of telling a teacher or authority figure exactly what they think about their rule structure. Nate gets to say exactly what they're thinking, and he tends to get away with it every time.

I love these books. They can stand the test of time and be read generations from now. Though we'll see how the joke about Nate's dad falling for a Youtube star ages.

There's little to say here, for these books are great. Their light-hearted look at school life in modern USA certainly travels across the ages and the miles, for here I am liking yet one more. The Power of Chad, dressing up as Gina for Halloween, decorating a school room as a students' lounge, and so much more is here. This series has lasted for a reason, which is the incredible way it's sustained its quality over the years. Four and a half stars.

I received a copy of Big Nate: Payback time! For free for an unbiased review.

I choose this book to review because my 11 and 9 year old kids LOVE Nate. Their eyes lite up with glee at the sight of Nates newest adventure. I as a parent find Nate to be naughty and thankful he is not my child! My son loves and wants to be him. Ages 7 to 12 would be ideal for this book. My daughter rated it 4/5 stars and my son 5/5. So highly recommended!

I see why kids gravitate towards this series. This set of stories is no exception. I couldn’t help but giggle at some of the stories, even as a teacher. A funny read for kids 9-12 years of age boys and girls alike.

Thank you, NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the advanced digital copy of "Big Nate Payback Time",in exchange for my honest review.
I have always seen my teenaged, and as a pre-teen, daughter engrossed in this series but I never had the opportunity to actually read them. Boy do I regret taking so long to partake! Author, Lincoln Peirce, has really captured the essence of most pre-teens. I found myself literally laughing out loud. I would welcome anyone to enjoy this comic strip! You will be very very pleased indeed!

*My kids LOVE Big Nate, so I thought I would let one of them review it for us. Here are the thoughts of one of my 9 year old boys Noah-

I was always a fan of the Big Nate book series, so I enjoyed the book a lot. I really liked when the people said "Behold the power of Chad" at different times of the book. I also loved the good illustrations. This will be the 38th(?) book in the series. (I just googled 'Big Nate books in order', counted them all, and then I counted this book on the list [because it was not on the list yet.]. That would be the 38th book.). The last thing I want to say is "Thank you for letting us look at this book"

I was so excited when I saw this Big Nate book on Netgalley! We are huge fans of this series and super excited for a new one!

Big Nate always has his quirky little ways. Lol. I love the way that he and Ms. Godfrey battle with each other. I was really excited to see that there are several references to some real world stuff in this one as well. I think that young readers are really going to like that! Lincoln Peirce does an amazing job with keeping up to date on what the young readers are into these days.

A great hilarious read that young and old readers alike can enjoy! I know they did in this house! I can't wait for more of Big Nate and to see what he is up to next!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book!

Yet another fun read in the Big Nate series. My son loves them, and he and I read this one together. There were a few chuckles, and I finally was able to confirm my son's explanation of why Big Nate has no dog yet Spitsy is always featured as though he were Nate's dog.

A few lessons were learned, mainly by those around Nate and anyone reading his story. The books aren't really there to teach necessarily, but I find they do a good job of that.

While not as cohesive as some of the other books, this pulling together of various strips still works.

Well drawn. Well written. Fun characters. Great read!

This collection of Big Nate comics shows off our naughty, narcissistic little hero in his best light - whether trying to get his social studies teacher Mrs. Godfrey fired because he's supposedly become allergic to her, to petitioning for a student lounge because the teachers get one for themselves, dressing up as classmate Gina for Halloween, schooling a newbie in how to make the most out of detention, or trying to break up Jenny and Arthur because he may (or may not) like Jenny. Oh, yeah, and the bully episode, as seen on the book cover; this reader's personal favorite. Nate, as usual, goes through the world from day to day acting like he owns it, and this collection is a funny, varied example of the little menace from PS 38 at his most maddening. Amazing, what this kid can talk or scheme his way out of; I wish I'd had half his skills in school. 4.5/5 stars

NOTE: I received a free ARC of this title from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.

Another entertaining Big Nate story! My 9-year old was eager to read this with me and enjoyed it. This book covers the typical middle school occurrences including detentions, writing assignments and crushes. The level of vocabulary was slightly advanced for my 9-year old but would be fine for my 12-year old.

This is the first Big Nate book I have read, although I have purchased copies before for my middle school classroom library. It is always popular with my students, and I can see why.

Nate is a frustrated 6th grader who believes he is the greatest and no one understands him. It is funny reading about his experiences from a teacher's point-of-view because I know how my students can relate. Anyone of any age will enjoy reading this book and I definitely recommend to anyone who knows middle-school aged kids.

Big Nate books are my favorite! I love this series and so do my kids. I think all of us can relate to Nate and his friends regardless of our age!

Once again, Lincoln Pearce gives us a great book with Big Nate as the protagonist. All of our favorites are here, Mrs. Godfrey (is Nate really allergic? Or is there something else going on?), Gina, Teddy, and Francis. There's even a newbie to detention that Nate tries to take under his wing with somewhat... dubious... results.

Collection #3000 or so of the long-running comic strip, featuring an almost-loveable grade school loser and his silly shenanigans.
As a former soccer goalie, I was a little insulted by the first plotline, but I’ll let it pass for now.
He wins more often than he has before, but Nate wouldn’t be Nate if he didn’t fall on his face all the time. But I like that he’s always optimistic, no matter how misplaced.
I’m so glad my father doesn’t watch YouTube. . .
Nate’s talking about how cool it would be to be a profiler while I’m watching Criminal Minds.
There isn’t much left to say. If you liked it before, you’ll like it now. If you’ve never seen it, it’s worth a try. Think of it as a slightly edgier Peanuts.

This is my first read of any of the “Big Nate” comic books written by Lincoln Peirce and I found it absolutely hilarious!

Big Nate: Payback Time! Brilliantly handles issues with friendships, school, relationships and acceptance, as well as bullying, the survival of the not-as-popular and many others. Once I started reading about Nate and his friends I was enthralled and if you haven’t already been acquainted, I’m sure that you will love Nate, too!

I rated this four smiles!
😏😏😏😏

Highly recommended for those in Middle Grade or for anyone who wants a good laugh and a short break from their usual reading.

I received a complimentary copy of Big Nate: Payback Time! at my own request, from Andrews McMeel Publishing via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

My students love Big Nate books and I knew this would be no different. It’s funny and a quick read. The comics go through Nate’s daily happenings at school and home such as crushes, teachers, school projects and more. This book doesn’t stay on my class library shelves for long.
