Darcy and Elizabeth are impertinent strangers in this Pride and Prejudice variation. This variation introduces our dear couple in Kent rather than in Hertfordshire. Elizabeth is visiting Charlotte and her cousin Mr. Collins at the same time that Darcy is visiting his aunt, Lady Catherine. They get off on the wrong foot initially, when Darcy puts his foot in his mouth by declaring that Elizabeth is not handsome enough to tempt him. However, as they gradually get to know one another better, they become rather smitten with each other despite Lady Catherine’s determination that Darcy will marry her daughter. While Wickham does ruin and runaway with Elizabeth’s sister Lydia as in the original, this time the incident was orchestrated by Lady Catherine as part of an effort to ruin the Bennet’s so that Darcy wouldn’t marry Elizabeth. Despite her efforts, Darcy manages to broker a marriage between Lydia and Wickham. Now nothing stands in the way of Darcy and Elizabeth’s HEA.
