Description

Joan Foster feared she might end up an old-maid.

She never dreamed a soldier like Dick Thimble would stride into her life. But when a cagy redhead in her perky top-fashioned-fascination threatens to take him away, Joan unleashes 1943 girl power with Annie, Helen, and Bernice in the fight to win him back.

Follow the series of hysterical confrontations through the four womens' efforts to surf the near misses of love, each with her own private struggles to defeat.

While the girls' battles rage on at home, their men trek through the terrifying and sometimes bewildering reality of World War II, until just before Christmas, the unimaginable happens.

Awesomely uplifting. A quick easy wholesome read. August 5, 2017

A beautiful story of how friendship, love, faith, and service created comraderie during the war years-- both on the homefront and in the war zones. Eloquently written, the characters are like friends--real friends. The author clearly loves her characters as her friends and wants them to be part of other people's worlds too.

I found this book difficult to get into at first, however, once I'd persevered I actually did enjoy it. I haven't read Christian historical books before but I will in the future. I'd recommend this book for others to read.

4.5 stars...Joan and her band of merry misfits were hilarious. There were some serius parts in this book as well but it did not take away from the great story. I usually don't read books based in World War 1 or 2 but this was so funny and so well written I am glad I read it and did not miss out on this book. Thank you NetGalley.
