Description

So long nostalgia, and goodbye resignation! This book of quotes reminds us that growing old isn’t about slowing down and taking it easy—it’s a chance to ask, “What’s next?”

“Aging is an extraordinary process where you become the person you should have been.” —David Bowie

Sixty is the new fifty, seventy’s the new sixty, and older is getting younger every day. With fun, forward-looking, and inspiring quotes, So Who’s Counting is the ideal gift for baby boomers or anyone reaching a major age milestone. Instead of cloying sentimentality or the standard sagging-body-part jokes, it strikes the perfect balance of humor, guidance, reflection, bon mots. Quotes are divided into nine sections, such as “As Old as You Feel,” “Laughter: The Best Prescription,” and “Aged to Perfection.” So Who’s Counting is all about aging with gusto and celebrating what lies ahead.

This book is a compilation of quotes that remind us that "aging" is a state of mind. Many of these quotes were well known but some were not. All of them were fun to read and fit the theme of this book. Some are inspiring in a fun way and they are often quite sassy! You could read through the entire book in one sitting but you'll want to read through it again and again because these quotes are so entertaining. Likewise, you may only want to read a few at a time. It is entirely up to the reader.

In addition to the wonderful compilation of quotes, the book itself is lovely. The color schemes used are shades of blues and greens that blend well but are still fun! It would be a wonderful gift.

Overall, I think this book is packaged well and the content hits the mark for its target audience. I'm 51 myself and I really enjoyed it!

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was like a little book of motivation. I did relate to a lot of the quotes, but there were a few that did not resignate with me. This book definitely has something for everyone. It would make a cute gift too.

"Never ask anyone over 70 how they feel. They'll tell you."- Barbara Bush

A lovely little book of quotes about expectations and philosophies of getting older. Segmented into topics of wisdom and advice.

Great gift for a milestone birthday or retirement!

Funny, insightful, and downright hopeful for anyone embracing or cringing at the thought of getting older.

"When I am old and gray, I want to have a house by the sea. And paint. With lots of wonderful chums, good music, and booze around. And a damn good kitchen to cook in." - Ava Gardner

Feeling a bit dismayed when you look at yourself in the mirror and wondering where all those wrinkles came from, or trying to remember where your waist used to be? Don't despair, just pick up this book!
For those of us now on the less popular side of fifty this is a lovely reminder that there's life in the old dog yet! It's a combination of motivation, inspiration and quotations, lots of the latter of which are wryly amusing and very apt. It's a gentle reminder that many positives comes with getting older and they more than outweigh the greying hair or those niggling little health problems. We have experience, wisdom, fortitude and maturity. Too often we judge ourselves purely on our outward appearance or by the things we can longer do, or at least do as well or as quickly. We must remember and value the fact that there's more, much more, to us than meets the eye, and be very proud about that.
A genuinely motivational and entertaining book. Thank you to the authors and publishers.. .

A marvelous read about the joy of growing old-er. Quotes from the known and the new to bolster and shine a light on the privilege of adding years to your life. I see this book as a read-over every few months, a dialogue to remind us that not everyone gets to experience, learn and share the wisdom that comes.
A book to share with friends and family as they reach each milestone, whatever it might be.

"The older I get, the younger everyone else seems"... is not included in this book, but mirrors my feelings about getting older. When I asked for a copy of this book, I wasn't completely clear on the fact that it's a compilation of quotes, and no prose at all, so starting to read it was a bit of a surprise. Having said that, I really enjoyed the collection and how it was structured. Of course this isn't a book with a plot that you get caught up in and read to find out what happened - but almost better, it's a book to pick up, read one or two or six quotes and take them away and ruminate on them. Or have your day brightened with a smile. Or be inspired to challenge your thinking about yourself, and set new goals, and strive to achieve them. Good idea for a gift for someone approraching a certain age!

This book is divided into 9 sections about various topics of aging. Each page of this book is a quote. This book had humorous quotes, as well as thought provoking, deeper quotes. This book would be a great reference book or book for a coffee table. Two of my favorite quotes are
“Get busy living or get busy dying,” said by Stephen King. The other quote I especially liked was “I don’t have any rules because I’d only be breaking them”. –iris apfel

So Who’s Counting is a book a quotes. This isn’t a book that you would sit down and read cover to cover, in my opinion.
This would be an ideal gift for someone struggling with a milestone birthday or just a birthday period.
This book could be left out on the coffee table or desk for viewing and to be picked up and flipped thru.
What a nice gift idea as well. This is a nice collection of quotes.
