Description
"Rosenfelt knocks it out of the park with this fiendishly twisty serial killer thriller." - Publishers Weekly, starred review
The next exciting installment in bestselling David Rosenfelt's Doug Brock series.
Doug Brock hasn't had it easy since his getting shot in the line of duty as a New Jersey state police officer. Between the amnesia and having to solve two murder cases, it hasn't been the most restful recovery. He’s slowly earning back the trust of his girlfriend Jessie, since he doesn’t remember their breakup, and has focused on new crimes with his partner, Nate.
But now an old case of Doug’s has resurfaced, and it’s up to Doug to retrace his steps – steps he can’t remember – to solve the case. Eighteen months ago, Walter Brookings was shot through the heart. With no clear motive and no similar murders, the investigation stalled and became a cold case.
When another man is murdered in the same fashion and the ballistics come back as a match, Doug begins to reinvestigate, and starts to question his own actions from the previous investigation.
Finally, what Doug uncovers may be more dangerous than any case he’s faced yet.

I love each of David Rosenfelt's books. Black and Blue was especially good because he brought in characters from his other series. I love his story lines and characters and I know I can recommend his books to any of my mystery readers and they will enjoy them
Thanks to Netgalley for giving me an advanced copy of this book for an honest review
How this author can go from light, fun dog novels to gritty, fun thrillers equally enjoyable I'll never know. Even Andy Carpenter makes an appearance to complete the circle. I'm Black and Blue the cops are smart with cop humor and intensity. The frustration they feel is palatable as they chase every seeming-lead to find the killer. And then there's Bobo...
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the arc for an honest review
It was a interesting mystery novel were you didn't quite know what was going happen next. It had a appearance of Americas favorite dog loving defense lawyer
Back and Blue is another great page turner from David Rosenfelt. It features the wit and whimsy you expect from the author but it's also a terrific thriller. The 'Doug Brock' series is even more enjoyable because it's firmly set in Rosenfelt's terrific 'Andy Carpenter' universe. This is one of those books that's such a fun read you won't put it down until you reach the end. And then you'll eagerly look forward to the next book by the author! #NetGalley @StMartinsPress @MinotaurBooks
Whether it’s Andy or Doug taking the lead, you’ll never go wrong with a Rosenfelt novel. This entry includes the author’s trademarked humor along with an excellent plot to keep the reader entertained.
Black and Blue by David Rosenfelt. 5 stars
Hooray, the newest Doug Brock is here. Our favorite amnesiac is in a new mystery and the best part is that Andy Carpenter has a small appearance as the attorney that represents one of the ""persons of interest". A mystery sniper is seemingly killing unrelated individuals. Doug Brock, his partner Nate and Jessie, the cyber expert is hot on the trail. Misdirection and red herrings abound. I throughly enjoyed this book. I eagerly await the next Andy Carpenter- Bark of Night.
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martins / Minatour for this ARC
Doug Brock a cop is getting his life back together after being shot and losing most of his memory. Doug and his partner Nate embark on a cold case with a man that Doug eliminated as a suspect. With several unsolved murders each person shot in the heart from a distance Doug is wondering if he let a killer go.. This is the third book in this series.

Black and Blue
This is the third installment of David Rosenfelt’s Doug Brock series. It just happens to be the first in this series I have read and I loved it. I appreciate the way Rosenfelt writes his series books; as he does so in such a way that any one of them may be picked up and read without missing vital backstory on characters. I, also love the carryover of characters from his Andy Carpenter series.
I read this book in a day! I instantly became caught up in the plot. I never expected the ending either. I love it when an author keeps me guessing. I loved BoBo the dog and Doug’s partner Nate. The main character Doug has a sarcastic bent which just makes him even more lovable. This is just a fun, fast-paced read with a few twists thrown in. I loved it and highly recommend it! David Rosenfelt has quickly become my favorite author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. The views given are my own. #BlackandBlue #NetGalley
