Description
What if, in the darkest period of your life, you slipped away into a new place, a new identity? What if you were given a chance to start anew, to leave your old life completely behind—would you take it? Meredith’s life has gone shockingly wrong. After a freak accident, the rest of the world believes she’s dead. After she stumbles into a new identity and a new life in a quirky small town in Alaska, a new chapter of her life begins, but she finds it’s not that easy to discard the past. Her friendship with a fiery and temperamental artist and her growing worry for her elderly, cranky landlady pull at the fabric of her carefully guarded secret. A connection with a local fisherman unexpectedly blossoms, and Meredith struggles to find a way to meld her past and present so that she can move into the future she craves. But someone is looking for her, someone who will threaten Meredith’s dream of a reinvented life.

Review "...this was an intriguing book of love and loss mixed with just the right elements of romance and suspense." The Romance Studio
Compass North pulled me in on several levels. The vast beauty of Alaska plays a significant role, always immense and present, lovingly described by the author. The characters, well-drawn, believable and engaging. Most significantly, the novel drew me in from the first chapter when a tragic and traumatic event unexpectedly offers the protagonist, Meredith, a choice—to go back to her life carefully constructed over many years or starting over with a new life, new relationships, and a new identify. However, she learns along the way, you can run, but can’t hide from life as she copes with the consequences of her choices both in the present and from her past. A great read.--Richard Hacker, author of DIE BACK.

This book held my interest from the start. The authors descriptions of Alaska and it’s people were everything I have ever dreamed Alaska being. The book starts out with the lead character Meredith on a tour of Alaska. Through a series of events she meets many people using Alaska as their sanctuary. Meredith is a strong female lead and proves she can make it in this suddenly new life she has made for herself. She is a strong woman that doesn’t need a man to solve her problems and I face they just make her situation worse at times!
This is not your typical romance novel it will keep you on your toes guessing what will happen next and leave you wanting more! Don’t plan on putting this book down once you have started it’s just to difficult!
Five Stars! And one of the best books I've read in awhile. Who hasn't, at some point, wished they could just disappear. Run away. Be somebody different. And what are the chances that you could actually do that? And then what??? Set in the beautiful wildness of Alaska, along with some memorable characters, this book is a must read. I applaud Stephanie Joyce Cole - she gets everything right.
Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.
I thoroughly enjoyed Compass North. It has compassionate people, a well described, picturesque locale of Homer, Alaska, and a compelling, fast-moving storyline. Starting over is something most of us have had to do, sometimes voluntarily, sometimes not. Occasionally we handle it better than Meredith did... But maybe not.
This was a fine tale, told very well. I will follow Stephanie Joyce Cole. Can not wait for another story form her vivid imagination.
I received a free electronic copy of this novel from Netgalley, Stephanie Joyce Cole, and Duncurra LLC. I have read and reviewed this tale of my own volition. This review is my honest opinion of this work.
