COLD CUSTOMERS
Embalmer Montmorency Rome
Is a cheerful, if wizened, old gnome.
But his wife, Cora Mae,
Has left him today:
He wouldn't stop bringing work home.

Got quite a few chuckles out of me than I thought it would and there are very few misses within this collection. Apparently there's far more limericks with a slightly macabre theme to be written than one would have ever suspected. The humour is dark and twisted, a little bit reminiscent of Gorey if one were to squint.
Would make a nice gift for a fan of mystery and crime books.
With thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.
Crime Rhymes II by Dixie J Witted is a silly book of rhymes and limericks. It's not my usual read, but it was a funny way to wait for my daughter to finish at dance class.
I received a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
This was a cute little rhyming book. They didn't all flow with the same rhyming scheme, but they were cute.
Dixie J. Whitted has struck again with a second collection of verses, limericks, and poems dealing with criminal topics. She also provides a short story that picks up the Sherlock Holmes/Lizzie Borden tale from the first Crime Rhymes collection. So, if you liked the first collection or just feel in the mood for quick crime lines, dig in!
Thanks to author/publisher/net galley for ARC of the book.
This book is a quick funny read that i would recommend for all readers who like to laugh out loud at intelligent wits.
This book is filled with gallows humor, which admittedly, some people might not find funny at all. I am not one of those people. I will admit, there were some rhymes that I did not understand. I read them a couple times with no clue as to what was going on, but that didn't happen often.
I liked the fact that for most of the rhymes, you don't find out what the crime is until the end. It reads just like a normal rhyme until you get to the end, where suddenly the whole thing takes on a different meaning.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

My thanks to Netgalley and Booksgosocial for the opportunity to review this little book of Rhymes.
Whilst it is somewhat north American orientated I was still able to enjoy most of the rhymes.
During lockdown I have plagued my friend with some of the "awful - in a good way" verses.
Worth 4 stars
