When Amanda meets Brian Marshall, a handsome and charismatic restaurant owner, her heart beats in undiagnosable somersaults. "Amanda Loeb’s thirtieth birthday was coming soon, and it seemed (to her) that she had a difficult life. Saddled with a strong case of hypochondria, she spent many hours every week in doctors' appointments, trips to emergency rooms, undergoing medical tests and obtaining medications. On the other hand, she was an attorney in a large group practice and had many supportive friends and family members, although she provided many challenges within these relationships. She craved to be in a loving relationship but dated many men who were undesirable, for one reason or another. When she met a handsome neighbor, Brian Marshall, her life changed in dramatic, wonderful ways. In the romance comedy novel My Crazy (Sick) Love by Drica Pinotti, Manhattanite Amanda Loeb discovered how true love can enable the healing of a troubling affliction.
"This story has many funny situations, but these are tempered by the struggles of living with a mental disorder; hypochondria. Amanda was overwhelmed by her fears and her compulsiveness in keeping medical information and shelves of medications organized. Her character is well developed, and the reader will learn more about this disorder and how it affects those who suffer from it. Life in Manhattan for young, single adults is also well depicted. The author’s writing style is fast paced, as the story flows easily from one situation to the next – with many laughs along the way. Author Drica Pinotti has written an engaging and insightful novel in My Crazy (Sick) Love. This book is both informative and entertaining."

"There are stories of a person with a psychological condition finding love, but the love life of a hypochondriac told with humor is original."

"My Crazy (Sick) Love is a unique romantic comedy that will make you feel many emotions at once. The novel’s protagonist, Amanda, is a woman living with an illness that makes it hard to live her day to day life. At times it felt hard for me to watch her panic about her health, especially knowing that hypochondria controlled most of her thought processes. I did feel for her, as I can not imagine living my life the way she does. Although she frustrated me at times, I did ultimately root for her and her love interest, Brian, to be together. My favorite part of this novel is Amanda and Brian’s romance; they are just so sweet together and it seems like they were made for each other. They are both round, funny and exciting characters and I felt interested in them and their story.
"I think it is very special that this novel centers around hypochondria, as I have never read a fiction novel about the disease, and that is what made the book stand out to me. Drica Pinotti writes well; the narrative flows nicely and I enjoyed reading her dialogue the most. She also does a good job showing imagery and making details palpable. The pacing of the story was fast, as most romanic comedy books have a fast pace, but at times I do wish certain situations were slowed down a little just so I could savor them a little more. Overall, though, I enjoyed getting to know the characters and I also really liked the different themes seem in the story such as feelings of love, fear and acceptance. I suggest this novel to anyone who wants to read a quick, humorous, and all around feel good story. This book teaches you that it is okay to open yourself up to others, and that you should let in the people who truly love you."
