The classic tale of The Time Machine by HG Wells.

It re-tells of the time traveller and his journey to the future, where he meets Weena, the Eloi and morlocks, but on the way he see the changes in the world and the effect man has had on the planet.....

It is stunningly illustrated and brings this classic to a new generation.

H. G. Wells' "The Time Machine" is a classic work of literature, and not only one of the first time travel stories, but one that is well known in some facets by many many people. It is presented here in a new edition with brilliantly colored illustrations throughout that emphasizes points of the story and offers a break from reading the expository paragraphs.

Having not read his work in decades, it was almost like opening it up for the first time and, for a work from pre-1900, it was a remarkably easy read, well -thought out and well presented. It presents so many themes that have been echoed by successive science fiction writers over and over again. And, it is fueled by Wells' fascination with class disparities and eugenics. He posits a dystopian future where humans have evolved into two groups, very different, one above ground, the Eloi, childlike, gender-neutral, vegetarian, and placid. The other, the Morlocks, live underground in darkness among machines.

The Time Traveler has various theories about the development of these groups. He has concerns, sociological concerns about what a life of leisure has done to stunt human evolution. He posits that progress comes from struggle and from necessity.

What is really great about this classic work is the wonder and amazement conveyed about the discovery of these new societies 800,000 years in the future.

It's a rather short work, at least as compared to the giant monster books published today, but well worth a read, even better with illustrations.

This is a fabulous illustrated version of the classic time travel story. The pictures are very classic horror and add a lovely touch to the story. This would be a great first version of this story, and I'll be watching out for others in the series, as I'd love to see what illustrations they have.

I was given an ARC and chose to give an honest review.

I read The Time Machine when I was younger, so I was familiar with the plot. This is the original story, with illustrations added to enhance the telling.

The story itself is one that well crafted, and piques your interest. No matter what your opinion on time travel is, the ideas presented in The Time Machine are creative and entertaining. The details paint a picture of what goes on, and it is these details that are drawn out in the added illustrations.

These pictures are nicely drawn and very colorful. They help show the characters and events in the story. The colors are subdued, which lends an air of mystery and reflects the uncertainty the narrator has in retelling what he has heard.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

The book has great illustrations of the H.G. Wells classic novel. I enjoyed rereading the book again. It's well worth your time to see the illustrations.

This illustrated version of the TIe Machine is just the novel with some gorgeous artwork; do not gong in thinking it is a comic or graphic novel. The art is mixed surrealism giving that scifi factor of the story a nudge and creating a great atmosphere. Each panel is beautiful with detailed color and just enough strangeness to intrigue you without breaking you out. This is a great addition to a classics collection.

Classics Reimagined, The Time Machine is an unabridged reprinting and reformatting of the classic by H.G. Wells with gorgeous new illustrations by Alessandro Lecis and Alessandra Panzeri of Ale + Ale studio. Released 14th May 2019 by Quarto on their Rockport imprint, it's 208 pages and available in hardback and ebook formats.

Besides being important for its historical and cultural significance, The Time Machine is a cool story and worth a re-read every once in a while. This unabridged print edition is beautifully enhanced by the inclusion of the multimedia collage illustrations (see cover art). I spent a lot of time just looking at them. They're detailed, colorful, and expertly rendered.

The hardback edition would make a superlative gift, library selection, etc. The ebook version would make a nice addition to the basic classics home library.

Lovely work. Five stars.

I truly enjoy The Time Machine and always have, so when I found I might have the opportunity to read a "reimagined" version with modern illustrations, I was excited for the chance. My excitement was mostly misplaced. The edition I received included the full text of HG Wells masterpiece and did have illustrations. This is why I gave the three stars. The emphasized phrases (font 5 times or more larger than the rest of the text) made the pagination break oddly and did not always seem to emphasize important or illustrated portions of the text. The illustrations were serviceable, but they did little to add to the story and, since they did not maintain scale or style seemed to be just random filler.
TL/DR: Read the book, it is awesome. The illustrations in this edition are nothing to write home about.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.

I am not reviewing The Time Machine as it is a classic and would deserve 5 stars.

The Reimagined Classics series has been provided to me by Netgalley as a pdf version so it is difficult to get a feel of how this would look in hardback. Fortunately, I have been able to browse through a couple of the other books in this series and they a well presented and are almost up to the level of a Folio Society pressing.

The illustrations accompanying HG Wells novel add a welcome and sometimes surrealist element to the story and are well worth picking up. Preferably when the price drops a little.

I read The Time Machine so long ago, it was nice to re-read it again as an adult. I think that always kind of adds a new prospective on things. I also enjoyed all of the beautiful illustrations in this edition that went along with the story. Illustrations are a great edition to established classics and helps bring them to life even further. I also think that can help get kids to read classics when they have something appealing to look at in the process.

H.G. Wells' classic, "The Time Machine," has been brought back to life as a new re-imagining of the book with new illustrations by Ale + Ale. The classic book stands alone as a wonderfully imaginative work of science fiction, but this new "re-imagining" adds a new layer to the old tale.

The illustrations are wonderfully done with a early 19 century feel, but at the same time it projects the science fiction flair captured in Wells' writing. The new illustrations wonderfully complement the book.

I received this eBook free of charge from Quarto Publishing Group – Rockport Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I did not receive any fiscal compensation from either company for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.

This is a visual masterpiece. Every illustration is absolutely beautiful and unique. Each piece captures the detail described in the novel. Furthermore, it captures the mood and tone of the scene itself.

I absolutely loved reading the novel and looking at the illustrations after every few pages.

Although the story remains the same, the illustrations are a great addition to the storytelling itself.

'Classics Reimagined, The Time Machine' with original text by H.G. Wells and illustrations by Ale + Ale (Alessandro Lecis and Alessandra Panzeri) is part of a series of classics reissues with exciting graphic artists doing the art.

A character only known as the Traveler invents a machine to travel in time. The machine mainly goes into the future from where he lives, and what he finds is a future where mankind is greatly changed. The bulk of the story is his dealings with the light-dwelling Eloi and the dark-dwelling Morlocks. Is this the future we are headed towards?

Along with the classic text, there are quite a few illustrations. Ale + Ale has a collage plus digital style that has vivid color, yet feels pretty classic and fits well with the story. This is a nice version of this book.

This is the retelling of his classic and reimagined with wonderful illustrations, but didn’t seem to add much to the story — well not as much as I had hoped. The illustrations are beautiful though. This classic reimagined was well done keeping to the original and being well done while introducing it to a new group of readers. It is a timeless classic being a time-traveling book and still a classic nicely reimagined. This is a great read for a sci-fi fan as it is a beginning of the genre. It also has a society and culture message many find interesting and thought-provoking. The illustrations are well done with dull colors but this works very well with the time and theme — It fits. This book is reimagined not because it is a graphic novel. It is not. It basically has artistic illustrations along with the classic story as a way to add to and reimagine it in this way. The illustrations are described as surrealism artwork. I like the overall design for great readability. If you haven’t read this story before it is worth your time and if you have it is worth reading again in this reimagined option.

It’s a classic; it’s not that you are now going to read it because there are now some illustrations but somehow it works.
I believe this re-imagined series, starting here for me with The Time Machine, will work and bring a new audience to these famous books.
The text is presented in a comic book format and the wonderful, imagined as futuristic visions gives the graphic novel look a real gravitas.
The book reads well - it is of Victorian perception and the vision of the future by HG Wells, originally published in 1895.
What stands out for me is the introduction of this idea of time travel and the clever way the novel works on this simple premise The collective disbelief of the intellectual and rational minds of the privileged society represented here must have mirrored the public’s own feelings. Only the wealthy could contemplate such a notion; they would have the money and the means to contemplate such an endeavour. However, it corresponds with the scientific endeavours of the age to pursue truth and seek greater knowledge. A time of new thought and looking forward to the birth of a new century.

Secondly, the story introduces a concept of seeing into the future. This isn’t fantasy but early science-fiction where Wells has his Time-traveller rationalising on the future society he witnesses and lives in briefly.
Wells is bright in this project, in that the future imagined is in a far distant time, so it isn’t like a 1984 plot where predictions are made. Rather, it tells of the natural selection of Darwin running its course and class values dividing humanity into two separate ‘tribes’.
It was good to be reacquainted with the novel and the wonderful illustrations enhance the reading experience. This art has a value and gives the book a real worth, as it gives the story some clarity yet remains true to the text and the original date of the story.

The illustration gave a new lease of life to this classic. The classic got faces to all the characters, It is really well done.

I thought this was an interesting take on the classic and I’d definitely recommend it as an illustrated edition.

This is a very popular classic novel and the story itself really doesn't need my feedback.

The new part of this book is the illustrations. These are lush and artistic and suit the almost "steampunk" and whimsical feel of the story.

Although the illustrations are lovely and this would make a wonderful collectors item for a fan of the book or the author. I'm not a huge fan of the book itself.

This is a great introduction to an all-time classic. The illustrations are brilliantly drawn and make this book a completely satisfying experience. It's nice to see a new release keeping a classic work alive for new generations to come.
