A good heartbreaking and fast paced thriller. A fascinating insight into surrogacy and the woes that come with. A little slow at parts but worth a read x
A tough subject, dealth with well. I enjoyed this read, pacy and twisty whilst also heartbreaking at times. I will defintely read more from this author.
A couple who embark on a surrogacy nightmare ,I was practically screaming in my head ..... don't do it !!!
It grips you from the very beginning and it's so hard to put down
It's heartbreaking but opens your eyes at the flaws in the law of surrogacy
Please please read this debut novel it's amazing , not something I'd generally read but I'm so glad I did
Well done on your debut novel it's fantastic and highly recommended
I loved this enthralling psychological thriller by Ruby Speechley. An unputdownable thriller telling of Charlotte, a mother who acts as a surrogate for a couple who are desperate to have their own baby. But when Charlotte discovers she is having twins she becomes suspicious of the couple especially when the cheques for expenses bounce. After handing the babies over Charlotte has second thoughts.
This is an unusual take on surrogacy and the risks women take by having children for other people. Besides the obvious health issues at stake as well as emotional ones, how well do you know the people you are handing the baby over too?
A great debut read and I look forward to reading more from this author. Many thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for the opportunity to read and review Someone Else's Baby.
What a fantastic debut thriller, loved every page, very well written and I couldn't put it down. A thought provoking read for anyone interested in surrogacy which I know nothing about.
I can definitely recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from this author, well done Ruby.
Thank you to Netgalley and Hera Books for giving me the opportunity to read this brilliant book.
This is a superb debut psychological thriller by Ruby Speechley. I was gripped from start to finish. The characters were well rounded, the chapters short and snappy. The words just flowed from the pages and I loved it from start to finish. I can’t wait to read more from this great author.
Great domestic thriller.
Charlotte has always wanted to be a mother. She experienced what it was like to lose a child when her mother had a number of miscarriages when Charlotte was growing up. After Charlotte and her husband Steven have their first child they agree to Charlie becoming a surrogate for a childless couple.
The couple the choose, Brenda and Malcolm, seem perfect and are willing to pay a bit more in expenses than ‘the norm’. Will all go well on the road to the delivery of the twins Charlotte is carrying for the couple? Will Charlotte be able to hand the twins over? Will Brenda and Malcom be good enough parents for Charlotte’s precious babies?
Recommend this great read.
Thanks to NetGalley for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Surrogacy is something that has always fascinated me. Someone carrying a baby for nine months to hand it over to someone else. I enjoyed getting to know Charlotte and the reasons to why she wanted to help someone. I was a bit dubious about her husband though to start with as money seemed to be the major factor, which again I could understand the reasons why they needed it, but to start with he did come across as being more money orientated. As I got to know him better though, I could see how much they both loved each other and he has his wife’s and own daughter’s best interests to heart.
Malcolm and Brenda at first appearances seem to be a loving couple who are desperate for a baby of their own. No wonder Charlotte chose them to be the ones to help. The further into the story we get, as with Charlotte, I had certain niggles as to whether they really can be taken at face value.
The story line addresses the issues that can arise with surrogacy. Legally there isn’t much support for either side and people really are taking a leap of faith. I found it all really interesting as a lot of the laws I had no clue of myself and was interesting to see peoples opinions when it comes to this subject matter.
Someone Else’s Baby is a compulsive read that I couldn’t read quick enough. There was an urgency to know exactly why Malcolm and Brenda had disappeared and I felt at times in as much turmoil as Charlotte in wanting to know the truth and when it comes, well nothing prepared me for it. A tense and gripping read that I was unable to put down.
Someone Else’s Baby is a thriller that will keep you guessing the entire time! I was attracted to the plot- a woman selflessly wants to be a surrogate for a childless couple and all goes according to plan until it doesn’t anymore. It did not disappoint! Ruby Speechley has a talent for writing and I cannot wait to read more!
Charlotte Morgan has Little Baby daughter called Alice in her life
Now she wants to meet people to be a surrogate mother
When she meets Malcolm and Brenda and they are childless she starts to fall pregnant for them and gets twins for them
But Malcolm And Brenda are not quite as they seem
I had an ARC from Hera
After Charlotte Morgan's mother suffered through several years of miscarriages, and was unable to have more children, she decides that after having one child of her own she could make another childless couple very happy and be a surrogate mother for them. Malcolm and Brenda seem the perfect couple, but when the last payment bounces and the couple disappear with her two children she had for them, Charlotte starts to worry. Something doesn't add up, and when they search the surrogate site and ask other surrogate mothers if they know Malcolm and Brenda, they are shocked at what they find out.
I do think the logline - 'She gave her away her children. Now she wants them back', kind of lead me to believe this would be a psychological thriller, where the surrogate mother was going to creep back into the house of her children's new parents and steal/harass them. However, that said, I thoroughly enjoyed this different twist. Everyone expects what I did from this book, but in fact it was more true to life than a genuine new family being tormented by the biological mother of the children she wants back. In this story, we see the less explored other side of surrogacy. What if the people who are going to end up with your baby are not who they say they are? Do you realise that when they pay you to take your baby away, the amount you receive might not be anything like the large amount the new 'parents' could get for selling your baby on to someone else. Whoever that may be! Pedophiles? Such a frightening thought!
With this in mind, this story highlights the urgent need for UK surrogacy laws to be updated. I'd certainly recommend this as a book club choice, given the content matter is so controversial.
An exciting, well-rounded debut read, which had me hooked from start to finish. I can't wait to read more from this author!
Thanks to NetGalley and Hera Books for this opportunity to read the ARC of #SomeoneElsesBaby. This is my honest review.
Review to go on blog during tour. Thank you!
Ruby Speechley's debut is a fast paced, roller coaster ride through surrogacy and all the right and wrong things about it. It does a good job of presenting the differing reasons and views of others who may choose to judge. The Prologue will grab you and the story intensifies as it goes on. Well done!
Most time, surrogacy goes smoothly and everyone is happy. But what if the worst case scenario happened? Well, this book attempts to find out.
I don’y Want to give away too much about the plot, but it is really suspenseful, in that there are plenty of subtle hints that things are going to go very badly. And boy does it. Once the action picks up, it doesn’t stop until the very end, and I was rapidly flipping the pages trying to find out what was going to happen next! There’s murder, mayhem and about everything you can think of in between.
The book also adds in some interesting ethical questions that created an extra layer to the story. (Message me if you want to talk about it further, so I don’t end up giving spoilers).
I also really liked Charlotte. She was a good person, just trying to do something good and spread joy in the world. What she got was much more than she bargained for, to put it lightly.
This book twisted my insides in the most delicious of ways. I was honestly blown away by the story arc and the style of writing. The author Ruby Speechley has chosen the most gray areas of medicine and law, blended them smoothly, added bucketful of suspense and trepidation to give me a story which hooked me from beginning to end. SURROGACY!!
Charlotte wanted to do a good deed and help a couple have a child of their own by optioning to be a surrogate mother. She chose a couple in their 40s unable to have one after multiple miscarriages as the intended parents. She bonded with her twins in utero and didn't want to give them UP. Something kept twining in her as the days went by. After a lot of life threatening medical events, she did hand the children over to the couple, and THEY DISAPPEARED. Then began the most exciting of stories with some scary revelations.
Ruby Speechley in her debut has knocked this one out of the part. I couldn't remember ever being so excited by a book. Short, snappy chapters made the book read faster. The rising panic in each made my heart thud faster. I literally became one with the book, glued to my kindle. Nothing could break my bond with this book.
And the emotions... Oh the emotions... Each chapter showed me what Charlotte felt. She was such an easy character to love. No good deed goes unpunished, so it is said. And Charlotte experienced the full brunt of it. There were times I had to move away from the book, which in this case meant close my eyes, as I couldn't move away from the story. Why, what, how kept me in a constant spate of turmoil.
The delicious roiling in my innards and the painful thudding of my heart made this the most awesome of my reads. And kudos to the author for finding the most thrilling of subjects - SURROGACY
24 year old Charlotte has long dreamt of helping a family achieve their goal of becoming parents. Having seen her mother's troubles conceiving again, she is convinced she wants to help another woman avoid that pain. She meets Brenda and Malcolm, a seemingly lovely couple in their 40's who claim to have suffered 11 miscarriages and are desperate to try surrogacy. Charlotte agrees to carry Brenda's child for her. On the first try Charlotte suffers a miscarriage herself. She is devastated and almost decides not to pursue another try until Malcolm offers a substantial sum of money to help cover her expenses and the time she would spend off of work. She agrees and becomes pregnant with twins.
Soon after Charlotte notices a strange woman is seemingly always present. At first she thinks it may be the hormones playing with her head but then other oddities start to occur. Brenda makes a comment about how Malcom will be upset if both babies are girls. Malcolm snaps at Steve, Charlotte's husband when he takes a photo from their ultrasound... Then there are the constant travels which have Brenda and Malclom both often unavailable by phone. When the last payment check bounces, Charlotte starts to become extremely worried. After the babies are born, Brenda and Malcolm all but disappear. Frantic, Charlotte takes to the message boards and group where she initially found the couple to begin with. One by one messages start pouring in that other women have had children with Malcolm as the biological father but under different names. Suspecting the worst, Charlotte takes to the local police department for investigation. Soon thereafter, Brenda, aka. Paula is found dead, having fallen (or was she pushed?) over the side of a cliff. It becomes a race against time to save the twins. What she finds however is much worse than she ever could have thought imaginable.
This book is quite intense. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is a pretty quick and easy read however, I read in one sitting and just downloaded it today. Great debut novel!
Wow! Such an incredible book! If you're wondering whether or not you should read Someone Else's Baby, stop thinking, and Do It! I am so glad I did! There are so many great things to say about this story, I don't even know where to start. Speechley takes a real-life issue and brings it to life in a way that's so emotional and real, and I felt like I was part of Charlotte's journey through this entire ordeal. As a woman who's suffered a stillbirth and miscarriages and truly considered surrogacy for a time, this story took me on a roller coaster of a ride. I hated when I had to put the story down in order to work or whatever. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about reading it. And now that I've finished it, I'm still thinking about it! I say Kudos to the author for doing such an amazing job!
This was a wonderful story, and thank you netgalley for letting me read this early edition of someone else’s baby.
Charlotte wanted to help a family by having a baby for them as the woman Brenda could not have one.
The problem was Charlotte and Steve did not find out enough about the people who wanted a baby.
There lives fell apart as Malcolm and Brenda the couple who wanted there baby were. Not what they seemed to.be,
’ve got to say, surrogacy isn’t for me. Whilst I was pregnant with my boys, I couldn’t wait to watch them grow up and develop. I admire the women who can go through the nine-month pregnancy and are able to hand over their baby to the intended parents. It has to be such an emotional but rewarding thing to do.
Charlotte’s character, I felt, was portrayed brilliantly. She wanted to do something amazing for a couple who had suffered in the same way her own mother had with miscarriages. Ruby Speechley has created a kind hearted character in Charlotte however, as with all people, she has her flaws which come to the forefront as the story developed.
The first half of the book has a relatively slow pace which you’d expect as this is covers Charlotte’s pregnancy. But just past the halfway point, Speechley slowly starts to tighten the screws of the thriller aspect to the book. After being dropped small seeds of doubt about Malcolm’s behaviour towards Brenda, his attitude changes and the couple disappear of the face of the earth. Malcolm is a bit of an oddball…not my cup of tea at all!!
I really enjoyed Someone Else’s Baby, it’s an excellent debut from Speechley. I’ll be keeping my eye out for her future books!
5 Stars from me!
I was sucked into this story immediately and raced through the pages, Someone Else's Baby is an immersive dive into the world of surrogacy and fast paced psychology thriller to boot!
Charlotte and Steve seem to have a genuinely lovely relationship - they live in tiny flat with hardly any money but that old adage 'money can't buy happiness' has never been more true for them seem very together and very in love.
As such it is both weird and yet totally believable that they decide to go ahead with surrogacy. I found it really quite beautiful how supportive he was of her - I know his motivations were more financial but still I would imagine a lot of men wouldn't find it easy to support their partner as lovingly as he did.
The complex relationship between Charlotte and her mum - along with her reason for wanting to become a surrogate - was well handled and the emotional play between the two women was a nice touch.
I won't spoil the storyline, there's lots I could say about Malcolm and Brenda but I will resist! Yes there was something that I assumed all the way along and I was right but it didn't ruin anything for me. Even having said that, this book is packed full of surprising moments and exciting revelations as the story unfolds.
I've not read anything by Ruby Speechley before but it is a name I will look out for in the future as Someone Else's Baby was a gripping read with the added benefit of being about an unusual subject matter - really quite interesting as well as being a fast paced thriller!
Loved this book! If this was her debut book and she hooked me this well, I will be sticking with this author. I felt all along something was off and had some guesses as to the plot; some were right, some were wrong. The suspense was great! it was hard to put down! Must read!
Many thanks to Ruby Speechley and Hera Books for the opportunity to read and review this book. Someone else's Baby had me gripped from page one. This book focuses on surrogacy and the impact it can have on the birth mother. When young mother Charlotte decides to help an infertile couple have a family , her whole life changes. She meets Brenda and Malcolm. Why does Malcolm not want his photo taken what is this couple hiding and should Charlotte hand over her precious babies to these people. This book is one to read. Absolutely brilliant.
Wow, this is quite a debut novel!
This has me hooked from the outset when you realise Charlotte’s intentions are only to help others.
This was a rollercoaster of emotions and had me thoroughly intrigued.
Look forward to the next book by Ruby Speechley.

Very interesting book, not being able to have a child of your own. The possibility’s are few and far between. You could look at Adopting a child. Yet some just want babies where they are few and far between. Then look at surrogates to carry. A baby for you. That comes with its own problems. Major ones at that. How many truly are successful. What are the motives behind being a surrogate. Maybe start off with good intentions. However not everyone. This explores why some become such a tangled mess, to answer some of the questions you will have to read this book. So much selfishness going on. It’s a emotional roller coaster of a ride with twists and turns coming at every angle. Must read .
Really enjoyed this novel. The writing flowed and the characters were depicted very well. Couldn't wait to find out what happens next.
The main subject of this book is surrogacy, an area most people know happens but probably don’t realise how unregulated it is.
Charlotte, having grown up in a home full of sadness, watching her mothers despair after multiple miscarriages and stillbirths decides she wants to help an older couple have a baby.
Enter Brenda and Malcolm who seem too good to be true. HELLO ALARM BELLS!!! You know the saying “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions ” well this sums this book up perfectly.
Charlotte and her husband are in financial trouble, add this to her fraught relationship with her mother and it leads to rash decisions.
Once the twins are handed over, made more difficult because Charlotte is the biological mother, the cheque bounces and the couple go missing. Here the story really intensifies as you become involved in the hunt.
This is a fast juicy thriller with great characterisation (creepy Malcolm, naive Charlotte and downtrodden Brenda) and would make a great book club read as there are so many thought provoking issues. All in all this is a very accomplished debut.
Charlotte had seen the heartbreak her mother had gone though at being unable to have a second child, so she decides to become a surrogate….and husband Steve agrees….they could use the money!
They meet Malcolm and Brenda and start the process…Charlotte gets pregnant with twins and the ‘parents’ are over the moon, but something niggles at Charlotte, Malcolm’s temper and Brenda’s tears, but she’s soon convinced all will be ok…but are Malcolm and Brenda to be trusted ?
Is Charlotte too trusting and just how important is the money? Will she get her babies back?
This is a fast paced and tension packed psychological thriller that deals with the emotive subject of surrogacy in a sympathetic and non-judgmental way. If you like a thriller with an emotion packed plot then you love this…
Thank you to The publishers, the author and NetGalley for a free copy of the ebook. This is my honest, unbiased review.
Dark, twisted and unsettling, Someone Else’s Baby is the compulsive and terrifying debut novel from a fabulous new star in the genre: Ruby Speechley.
Charlotte Morgan spent most of her childhood watching the sadness and disappointment consume her mother over losing her longed-for babies. It used to break Charlotte’s heart to see her mother’s anguish and despair and now that she is all grown up and a mum herself, she is well aware of how much joy and happiness children can bring. Charlotte’s life completely and utterly revolves around being a mother. It is a tiring yet fulfilling and satisfying occupation which she certainly does not take for granted. As a child, Charlotte would have given anything for her mum’s heart’s desire to become a reality. She had wanted nothing more than for another woman to give her mother the children she yearned for and wanted with all of her heart – which is why Charlotte begins to wonder about becoming a surrogate and carrying a child for a couple who cannot conceive. Charlotte vows to help others achieve this unattainable goal of becoming parents and when she meets Malcolm and Brenda on a surrogacy website, it seems that she has found the ideal couple to help out. But is Charlotte aware of just what she is letting herself in for? Should she think twice before embarking on something which has such far-reaching consequences? Or should she stop letting the doubts get to her and simply pursue this selfless and courageous endeavour?
Malcolm and Brenda seem absolutely perfect. Smart, successful and financially secure, the couple are in their forties and the owners of a very successful business. Well-travelled and cultured, the only thing missing from their perfect domestic idyll is a baby. As Charlotte finds herself getting drawn into their world, she simply cannot wait to give them the child they are so desperate for and when she gives birth to twins, she hands them over; the sadness in her heart outweighed by the joy and happiness which she knows her precious gifts will give Malcolm and Brenda. But has Charlotte’s philanthropic act blinded her to the pervasive darkness which surrounds the couple? How well does Charlotte know Malcolm and Brenda? How honest and truthful were they with Charlotte? And is giving her babies over to virtual strangers going to end up something which she will end up regretting?
As secrets and deceptions unravel and Malcolm and Brenda vanish off the face of the earth, Charlotte needs to find her babies and rescue them from danger – before it’s too late.
Someone Else’s Baby is a gripping and chilling page-turner that is not for the faint-hearted. Ruby Speechley has written a spine-tingling and nerve-twisting thriller that will send your heart rate sky-rocketing with its terrifying blend of nail-biting suspense, twists and turns that will leave you with your mouth open and an ending that will have you hiding behind the sofa.
A book best read with every single light in the house switched on, Someone Else’s Baby is a tense, twisty and terrifyingly brilliant thriller domestic noir fans are simply going to love!
I thought this book was great and I loved the characters. Charlotte Morgan just wants to be a surrogate for a childless couple. She finds that couple on a forum and becomes pregnant with twins. When the twins are born the couple and the newborn twins vanish.
I loved Charlotte’s back story and her naïveté, whilst reading you want to shout at her when she misses all these little warning signs that the couple are not right and that there is something going on.
I will definitely be looking out for the authors next book.
Thanks to Hera books and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I would firstly like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I may have guessed the overall plotline from the beginning but this read, regardless of being a parent myself, still sent me down a path of worry, fret and nail-biting intenseness. The story kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat from beginning to end! With fabulously emotionally relatable characters, and an excellently gripping plot, this one was definitely a page-turner!
Can't wait for this authors next!
Charlotte and Steve having a loving relationship and a happy life with their young daughter. Charlotte wants to fulfill the dreams of another couple and becomes a surrogate for Malcolm and Brenda.
At first everything seems great, but by the time the last payment bounces and Malcolm and Brenda disappear without a trace with the babies, Charlotte knows something is very wrong. I won’t spoil it for you, but this is a must read!
Ruby Speechley's debut novel is a psychological thriller focussing on the sensitive issues surrounding surrogacy. It asks some big questions: to what lengths would you go to help a woman like your own mother overcome a history of miscarriage and still birth? How does poverty affect the choices you make? How much control do you have over the children you give birth to, and what are your legal rights?
This page-turner concerns an ordinary young couple, Charlotte and Steve, who've just had their first, much-loved child and are struggling to make ends meet. It's Charlotte's experience of her own mother's unhappiness that makes her want to give the joy a child can bring to a childless couple. There are very few safeguards in place under the laws around surrogacy, and when we meet Malcolm and Brenda alarm bells ring for the reader; but Charlotte is touchingly naïve. She always thinks the best of the couple.
'Someone Else's Baby' is a well-told and nuanced story of intrigue and deception that keeps you guessing right up to the end.
Surrogacy is never going to be easy but this book opened my eyes to the trials and pitfalls involved. A compulsive read
If a good book is one you think about constantly, then a great book is one where you come back to the hotel early whilst on holiday just so you can read the last 25%
Needless to say, this is a fantastic book, well written and very current. Highly recommended - a true page turner.
Charlotte has always dreamed of becoming a surrogate. After the heartache of living through her mother having multiple miscarriages Charlotte wants nothing more than to help a couple who have been through the ringer and need some help. When she finds the perfect couple, Brenda and Malcom she knows that these are the people for her. When she becomes pregnant everyone is so thrilled. It’s been a long time of trying. A nagging feeling sits with Charlotte and she doesn’t know why... but really how well does she really know Brenda and Malcom?
What a fun whirlwind of a book! I would definitely recommend this book to those into fast paced fun reads. I enjoyed the writing style, I loved Charlotte and found myself feeling her emotions. I appreciated the quick chapters
Thank you to Netgalley, Ruby Speechley and Hera Books for a copy of the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is an enthralling story about Charlotte who wants to have a baby for couples who cannot have one of their own. She researches several sites online and finally chooses Brenda and Malcolm who are rich and have a beautiful home for raising a child.
Charlotte and her husband Steve have a young girl Alice, live in a one bedroom and do not have much money. So apart from helping this couple. Steve also sees it as assistance to their financial problems.
Then Charlotte suffers a loss and begins to wonder if she is doing the right thing, but Brenda and Malcolm are relying on them and they do also have the first payment, so feel obligated.
This story is a good one for a book club as it can raise discussions on not only morality, but can someone give up a baby.
My 4* review for Someone Else's Baby by Ruby Speechley.
"She gave away her children. Now she wants them back.
Charlotte watched her Mum go through many miscarriages, and now she is a Mum herself she wants to help other childless couples become parents. When she meets Malcolm and Brenda on a surrogacy website, it seems that she has found the perfect couple. In their late forties, they’ve spent their life building a successful business and traveling the world, but there’s just one thing missing – a child of their own. When Charlotte falls pregnant with twins, the pair are overjoyed. And while Charlotte’s heart breaks as she hands them over, her reward is knowing how much happiness the two tiny babies are going to bring into their life.
But are Malcolm and Brenda all they seem? As secrets become unraveled, Charlotte is forced to face that she has handed her babies over to virtual strangers. And when Malcolm and Brenda disappear without a trace, Charlotte is plunged into a frantic search for the babies she carried – before it’s too late…"
This is a brilliant book dealing with a very relevant and emotive subject and does so in a very sympathetic way. The book draws you into the world of Charlotte and Steve and the fact they are desperately trying to have a baby to help another couple, however, Steve has ulterior motives of needing the "expenses money" for the babies and things then get rather complicated and sinister.
Early on in the book you are given hints that all is not what it seems with Malcolm and Brenda, but I was nowhere near prepared for the full impact of what Charlotte and Steve have gotten themselves into.
This is a great psychological thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend, however, I had to knock one star off for the final chapter, which I thought spoiled the ending a bit for me.

Overall a fantastic debut novel I highly recommend reading.

Thank you to Sarah at Book On The Bright Side and Hera Publishers for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Oh my god so this one was a shocking read! Seriously good book and I honestly couldn’t hear to read what happened next, great plot and storyline, Brenda and Malcolm were just total creeps I hated them soooooo much and I felt so bad for anyone who had to deal with them, a really scary storyline that had me thinking about it well after I’d finished the book!
Honestly an amazing book that will stay with you a while after you e finished it!!!!
Excellent read, a really gripping page turner, good story line that has you guessing all the way through, hopefully more to come from this author, a fantastic debut book.
This was a very enjoyable read and keeps you on the edge of your seat at times. The story itself was interesting. The characters and the setting was great and the style of writing was perfect.. easy to get into. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author, but I’ll be keeping my eye out for more in the future. I’d recommend this book for anyone who enjoys reading this genre.
Thank you netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest review.
Okay, so first off, I'm going to post a trigger warning. This book focuses a lot on baby loss; miscarriages, still births, infertility and surrogacy. As someone who has had to deal with the loss of babies, some of this was a little upsetting.
However... I loved this book. I loved the synopsis, I loved how twisty it got and I loved how much it had me guessing til the end. I did correctly guess one of the little twists but everything else had my mind racing.
I believe this is the authors debut and I highly recommend it. I can't wait to read more.
This is the first book by an author that really must be watched in future. It was gripping, thrilling and the whole time the solution to the twists is dangled in front of the reader, but never really within reach. It was a brilliant read and I can't wait to get my teeth into the next one! Recommended.
