Description

She wants a baby. He wants one night.

After wasting five years on a man who didn’t want kids, Miranda pines for a baby of her own. What she needs is a man with father potential who can commit. What she does not need is the hot bachelor in town for his wine business who lives halfway around the world. But when Miranda feels an unexpected connection over dinner, one simple date becomes one delectably complicated weekend.

Since his wife left him when he couldn’t father a child, Carlos changes women like clothing. Determined to challenge him, Miranda is one of the most frustrating dates he’s ever had. Yes, he wants her in his bed. But after one date, he craves much more.

This down-to-Earth nurse awakens a part of him he’s been denying for years. They would be a perfect match, if she didn’t want precisely what he can’t give her.

A really lovely romance that was well written with a very interesting back story set in both Argentina and Chicago. The romance/sex scenes were tastefully done as well. Miranda and Carlos's relationship was slow burn at first, then steamy and sizzling as it advanced. You could really feel the attraction and love between the H/h and I read this book in one sitting, because I needed to know the outcome. I look forward to reading more books from this author. I highly recommend it. Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. 4.5 stars.

This book! Colette pulled out all the stops with this angsty, intense read. Throw in one incredible man and a gun-shy woman, add a healthy splash of steam and an incredibly well written story and this is it! Did I ever love Carlos! Yowza! This man made me drool just a little on my kindle, so irresistible! Burned by her ex in the worst kind of way Miranda meets Carlos after being dragged out of the house by her best friend Josie. At the opera of all places, he's visiting Chicago from his native Argentina. His family owns a winery there, he also runs his own business. He asks her out for dinner, she declines, he hands her his card. He does know she is a Labor and Delivery Nurse and so scouring the local hospitals finds her and sends her an envy worthy bouquet of flowers. It's just enough to nudge her to call him. She accepts the invite to dinner. There is something about Miranda that attracts him, and it's that pull that thread, that is woven through this story that pulls this plot tighter and tighter. They spend the last few days together before he has to return home. Miranda has an honesty policy, and Carlos holds her to it every single time he's unsure what's on her mind. He knows she'll be in Ecuador where she volunteers for two weeks at the hospital there delivering babies. Carlos decides to visit her, still unable to shake his feelings for her, despite the differences these two have over one major issue in their respective lives. Make that a couple major issues. Carlos has some history in the relationship area as well and some serious butting of heads on a few topics ensue.
Tempers flare, feelings are hurt and yet... there's that pause there. Carlos makes Miranda do things she wouldn't normally do, like beg off and go home to Argentina with him. Meeting his family, who I loved as well especially his over protective and fierce sister Esperanza. Loved her. Loved the journey through Argentina. The romance just simmers right off the pages and these two spark and court like no others. But that angst! I tend to like a low angst book, but this story pulled me in right from the beginning and man, I relished that angst! In short, this book checked every box I have and then some! I absolutely loved every single minute. Fantastic read and stellar writing!
Well done Colette!!

A relationship isn't always easy but with these two you wonder if it should be this difficult. Knowing that wanting a child would be the reason to test them, it was heartbreaking to realize why. Beautifully written and shows that when you want something for so long, you could lose what you have right in front of you.

A very heartfelt and heartwarming story. Miranda has just suffered a miscarriage and on top of that, the man she was with for five years walked out on her while she was going through everything. Now on the other side sort of her friend is wanting her to go out at least for one night agreeing she meets Carlos. He is from Argentina and after being married for two years he finds out he cannot have children so his wife divorced him. Both of these people searching for something have found each other but only feel they have one night. She still needs to work as a nurse and he will need to return to Argentina. That one night goes longer and it ends up that they are healing each other without knowing it. It is not until you are much into the story and you are wondering if these two can make it work, one in Chicago and one in Argentina, but you must read this story to find out. I also like how the author dealt with miscarriage and the loss one feels. Overall a very good book.

A Beautiful Match, the third book in Colette Dixon's Love at Lincolnfield series, is a well-written, emotional and heartfelt exploration of what love and family really mean.

Miranda is a labor and delivery nurse in Chicago who had been in a five-year relationship. She found out her partner, Pete, didn't want children only after she became pregnant, and his relief when she miscarries brings a definite end to the relationship.

Carlos is an Argentinian vintner visiting Chicago to sell his family's wine. He was previously married but, when he found out children were not a possibility, his wife left him. Big mistake! Dixon's characterization of Carlos had me imagining Antonio Banderas. Yummy!

Carlos and Miranda meet and, while it is immediate attraction, their relationship is like the tango, with close intimate steps and long pauses. After a steamy rendezvous in Chicago, Carlos must return to Argentina. When Miranda volunteers in a clinic in Ecuador a month later, Carlos makes an unplanned trip to be with her and ends up taking her to Argentina for a visit.

In Argentina, they finally have to deal with the elephant in the room - Miranda wants a man with father potential who can commit, while Carlos wants to commit but can't father a child. She was so focused on having her "own" baby she almost lost sight of how perfect Carlos was for her. So glad she made the right choice!

"I love you. I need you in my life, and I'll do anything to keep you."

The story is wonderful, and you will also enjoy Dixon's descriptions of Argentina and the secondary characters, especially Carlos' sister, Esperanza.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
