A beautiful and simple how to that I am almost positive anyone could follow.
This book is a great learning tool for anyone who wants to learn how to drawn and paint.
I love this little book! I can barely draw stick people, but love the idea of learning to draw and paint sweet, simple art that I can use for cards or in an art journal. I was disappointed with the first ten or so pages as it felt more like a "what to buy" book than a "how to draw" book. But then we got to the section where the author had created little pieces of art exactly like I wanted. I took my pen and scratch paper and practiced several of her drawings. They look nothing like hers, but I am hopeful that practice will help me improve. I am especially excited to draw and paint the little kitchen shelves vignette, and some of her plants and florals. I will be buying a drawing tablet the next chance I get!
Thanks for the lovely inspiration Netgalley, Flora Waycott and Walter Foster Publishing who gave me this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.
'Draw Every Little Thing' is a step by step guide to drawing. Starting with tools, lines and colour theory the book will easily guide you through the art of sketching, drawing and colouring. You will learn how to draw everyday objects such as plants, domestic animals, kitchen and room equipment. I really enjoyed the pictures in the book and step by step tutorials, and even though I'm a rather reluctant as far as drawing is concerned I'm going to give it a go.
This is a lovely book for a beginning artist just about to open a new sketchbook and embark on that most fulfilling of habits that is art journaling. There's the basic info that is needed and the step by step drawing instructions so helpful for a beginner. I love the whimsical drawings and paintings and the pleasing colours. The ideas and inspirations on what to draw is most helpful too as we can sometimes be unable to decide what on earth to put down in our blank pages next.
One thing that would make it even better is more steps for the drawing instructions.
Thank you Netgalley and Walter Foster for allowing me to peek into this new book. This is my honest review.
Author Flora Waycott offers this beginner's guide to drawing and painting. She explores how to add color and gradient, how to add texture and details. She offers step-by-step instructions on drawing each image, everything from a swan to a sweater.
I enjoyed browsing through Waycott's lovely designs, but I found them a bit overwhelming for this ultimate beginner.
3.5 stars
This sweet book has creative prompts and drawing exercises for things around the home, outside, everyday life, and around town. it also has some lovely crafting projects. If you're brand new to drawing and want to look for inspiration, this is a sweet book that you can flip through and read whichever section speaks most to you. It has a few steps for how to draw things but I think it's too hard for a true beginner to make the leaps in between each step.
If you're more advanced, you can also use this book for inspiration but it might seem a bit too basic for you. I fall somewhere in between and while I really enjoyed my time with this book, I don't think there was a major take away for me. There were 1-2 wonderful ideas in the book that I would like to try which is enough to make me happy that I read this book. Not to mention a few hours of lovely inspiration.
thank you to netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I feel like this book is perfect for helping to see potential art in everyday things. The basic instructions are easy to follow and her step by step examples are helpful. I really loved the useful projects at the end of the book. I can’t wait to try some of them myself. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the advanced review copy.
What a lovely book. I’ve worked my way through a few of the activities, but really loved the symmetrical design work. I like the simplicity, space on the page and clear instructions provided. I’m looking forward to using these techniques in my new bullet journal. Thank you for letting me read and review.
"Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing," by Flora Waycott is a fun art book that teaches students to create art by looking at the every items all around them and sketching what they see. She also covers the basics such as a the color wheel, shading, and other techniques for creating specific effects.
Throughout the book, she includes creative prompts meant to spark the imagination and get the student to try something new, such as take a day trip to the park and draw the gazebo or park bench. Another exercise was to draw pieces of clothing in your outfit.
Her style and way of communicating to art students was both informative and empowering, this was a great guide for a beginning artist.
I received this eBook free of charge from Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I did not receive any fiscal compensation from either company for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
Flora Waycott walks you though drawing everyday objects. She takes us step by step helping beginners truly understand what they are doing. The best part is that the book concludes with crafting projects. Each style for creating, drawing and painting are shown in full color. For me, this was useful and helped me to expand my creative talents.
The book is very simple and easy to read.
Illustrations inside are lovely and heart-warming. The book focuses on doodling and includes drawing instructions step by step. It also touches the subject of applying the colour with paint.
Unfortunately, the book is really short and doesn’t provide in-depth instructions for beginners. The section about tools and techniques is pretty short and describes only the author’s favourite tools.
I wouldn’t recommend the book to somebody searching for a legitimate beginner drawing guide. However, it would be perfect as a gift for somebody getting interested in arts or just enjoying various illustrated books. It can be also suited as a tiny source of inspiration.
I love this book especially the detailed drawings of everyday life. It is easy enough to follow for a complete beginner, and inspiring enough for someone more advanced. I love the way all the illustrations are hand drawn pictures. A perfect book for anyone wanting to spice up a journal or scrapbook. I would have loved more pictures and subjects but overall a lovely book.
Drawing works wonders for my mental health. Now I’m embarking on my final year of university, I’ll be wanting to doodle away more than ever to unwind and destress from the heavy workload. However, it has been a while since I last took out my coloured pencils and my sketch pad. Even by skimming through Flora Waycott’s book and her whimsical doodles, I feel inspired to get creative again.
The book begins with some useful tips and lays down the basics for some art concepts and techniques before moving onto to some simple step-by-step drawing projects. These are all inspired by items around the home and everyday life; from hanging houseplants to picturesque mailboxes, Waycott reminds us that not all drawings have to be complex to be beautiful. That being said, I would say this book is too basic for the advanced drawer, but perfect for inspiration nonetheless.
In this book, Flora Waycott encourages you to seek art in the mundane and think of even the simplest items as a basis of creative inspiration. I can’t wait for my bullet journal to brim with whimsical doodles inspired by this book. So happy I got my hands on this!
A nice book with some good ideas but a bit overwhelming for a complete beginner in my opinion. I should have also read the blurb a bit closer as the title insinuates that it's just drawing, whereas the drawing element is just one aspect of the book. It's also very much about paints, blending colours etc.
A delightful book just not for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this ARC for which I have given my voluntary and unbiased review.
A lovely little book that is so inspiring. Floral Waycott encourages you to look to the everyday objects that are all around you for inspiration. The book is divided into six sections. The first section deals with tips for getting started, tools needed and various drawing and painting techniques. The next four sections offer ideas for subjects, step by step tutorials and exercises to try. These four sections are themed - Around the Home, Get Outside, Everyday Life and Around Town. The final section offers ideas for crafting projects.
A great book for beginners and for those looking for inspiration. It is well set out and the instructions are clear.
I love books like this. As a child I was really into drawing and loved it. I was pretty good too. It's been years though since I've drew so when I saw this book I thought it would be a great refresher and I was right. It felt so good to start doing it again and I loved this book and hope to find more like it. I recommend it to anyone who's just learning to draw or needs refreshed like me.
This was lovely! I loved everything about it, from the art style to the organization of the book. What a lovely little interlude for artists and those who simply enjoy pretty things and who want to see the world around them in a more whimsical way.
Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing is a simple and appealing tutorial guide for painting and drawing by Flora Waycott. Released 1st Oct 2019 by Quarto on their Walter Foster imprint, it's 128 pages and available in ebook and paperback formats.
The author has a naive, whimsical, folk-art inspired aesthetic. The items are everyday familiar objects and can be used in so many ways.
The layout follows the familiar Walter Foster tutorial format. An introduction and artist's statement (5% of the total content) is followed by sub-chapters on finding inspiration, tools and materials, a short and easily accessible general drawing tutorial and an introduction to color theory. The following four chapters are full of step by step specific drawing tutorials for objects around the house, outdoors, everyday items, and around town. The tutorial chapters are also interspersed with practice pages and drawing prompts for the reader to try out their own drawn items. The final chapter includes specific gallery tutorials for a charming handmade concertina book, a card, and a bookmark. These are all achievable by artists with all levels of ability.
It's unclear from the publishing info available online, but the eARC I received has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references. I hope the ebook release version does also. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. Presumably that feature will carry through to the final release version.
This book would be useful for readers who wish to incorporate more direct drawing and painting to coordinate with journaling or other diary/writing activities, cardmakers and other papercrafters, as well as people who just want to add a little more painting in their day-to-day lives.
Five stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
I really enjoyed this sweet little book that shows you how to draw (yep, you guessed it) more than 100 little things. From cats to houseplants to tea tins, Waycott gives easy to follow little simple sketches and also walks you through making them into little paintings. I like that she shows how to draw multiple examples, like several breeds of dogs and cats in several poses. Since these are very simple drawings, step by step instructions are not needed and are not really provided if you're looking for that. These would be great for adding to bullet journals, scrapbooks, chalkboards, homemade cards or any little personal art projects.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.
This is a great book for learning to draw the objects in your everyday life and finding inspiration for what to draw. It even has some simple exercises to help you get started.
Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing by Flora Waycott. Creative prompts and drawing exercises for everyday items indoors, outdoors and around town with helpful step by step drawing instructions. Drawings can be used in journaling. Recommend using the print version of the book; the online version was difficult to navigate and deflected from the artwork.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Have the courage to start drawing little things
Illustrator, artist, and author of various books Flora Waycott is presenting "Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing. Learn to draw more than 100 everyday items, from food to fashion", published by Quarto Publishing Group - Walter. The first part of her book covers topics such as "Finding Inspirations", "Tools & Materials", "Drawing & Painting Techniques", and "Color Basics." The main part of the book is divided into three parts that cover "Around the home", "Get Outside!", and "Everyday Life.". Each of these parts contains creative prompts and exercises. The last part of the book is dedicated to Crafting Projects. The goal of the author is to share ideas and tips how to draw every little thing that the readers see around themselves as well as challenging them to notice things which they mighty typically overlook. I appreciated the fact that the author gives practical and realistic tips where to find inspiration for drawing. The step-by-step approach is very helpful. Readers will be able to follow the process for the different drawings. Waycott uses different materials for her drawings such as water colors, acrylics, or colored pencils which can be an inspiration to the budding artists to try different approaches. The book can be an inspiration for them. It is a good guide for beginners and advanced artists and would make also a nice present. Sadly the author has not included references where the readers can obtain the materials used for drawing or a list of books for those who are interested in more advanced studies. Nevertheless, I recommend this books for artists who want to learn or want to extend their knowledge about drawing.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I Love this book. First, the cover drew my attention, as it reminded me of the kinds of children's books that draw you in to look and examine the artwork, and see what is hidden in the pictures. The title and explanation caught my attention as well. In Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing, the author illustrator is Flora Waycott, who has a background in textile design (as do I), so I was definitely intrigued as her national background is different from mine. It was a joy to read and browse through the pages and be inspired by the explanation of tools, materials, and techniques, which are a great variety to choose from. The topics are everyday items, both inside and outside your home, and on your nature walk adventures. This book is both for the seasoned artist, the student, and the homespun folk artists to learn how, be inspired. I had at least one Aha moment and it brought joy to me to read. It presents you with moments to make that decision to practice looking at the world around you and capturing it with pen, pencil, ink, and brush, or your artistic tool of choice. I highly recommend this book to artists, public libraries and art libraries, as well as a great gift for the artistically inclined in your life. Enjoy
Thanks to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster, and Flora Waycott for an ARC of 'Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing. This unbiased review is written in exchange for the opportunity to preview this book.
Flora Waycott has a very appealing style of whimsical folk art and her book abounds with examples, including vases, gardening tools, pets, and plants. Draw Every Little Thing recommends doing just that — drawing all kinds of objects found in the home and then moving outside and beyond. This is actually how Ms. Waycott improved her own drawing skills — she discovered that one doesn’t have to travel very far for inspiration.
Ms. Waycott shares her own artistic process with the reader — how to use a notebook, sketchbook and to look at your surroundings with a fresh eye. The section on tools and materials taught me a lot about paintbrushes and different kinds of paint. In fact, reading this section inspired me to want to try adding color to my art. I also appreciated the section on color theory which I found to be clear without being intimidating.
Draw Every Little Thing is filled with delightful eye candy that can’t help but inspire you. Creative prompts abound in this book, which will have you drawing in no time. It never occurred to me that my daily attire is something I can practice drawing every day. Pay particular attention to Waycott’s moths - the folk art drawn on its wings is outstanding!
I think this is an excellent book. I really like the art style. Flora breaks down a picture into individual items and shows you how to build them up. I really enjoyed working through this book and I definitely recommend to anyone looking to improve their drawing.
A very pretty little book that was oddly uninspiring to me. It mostly features the author’s “recipes” for drawing various objects, with little room for the reader’s own imaginative input. I was also surprised at her art supply recommendations. Gouache and ink dip pens can be tricky and frustrating for a beginner. (I’m a former art teacher.) That said, this book is fun to look at and the craft ideas are really charming.
Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing
Learn to draw more than 100 everyday items, from food to fashion
by Flora Waycott
Easy to follow book that allows the reader to look, learn and execute drawing of a variety of items found in every day life. The illustrations are simple, colorful and fun making me want to pick upu a pencil immediately. This is a book I can see using ideas fIterom but also giving as a gift to my granddaughters who have said they plan to be artists when they grow up.
What I liked:
* The color theory information was easy to understand
* Examples were easy to follow
* Materials required are often readily available in the home already
* I could see myself or my granddaughters having fun using the ideas in this book
* Learning about the author
Would I buy this book? Yes
Would I give it as a gift? Yes
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster Publishing ~ This is my honest review.
5 Stars
This book is so adorable!! I loved all of the ideas for drawing and my girls were excited to give some of the activities a try. Definitely worth purchasing if you want to do more drawing! Very easy to follow and yields some very cute little drawings (Also includes a lot of inspiration for "what to draw" which was great for the kids)
Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing
Learn to draw more than 100 everyday items, from food to fashion
by Flora Waycott
This is a delightful and inspiring book to make you want to sit and draw the things around you. It begins with helping you find inspiration, good materials, and techniques. She gives you creative prompts and exercise to do. Ideas range from an array of vases, vegetables in your garden, to Japanese food.
My children and I will be using this cute book to help us in art and just bring creative.
I received this as a digital copy. It would definitely be easier to use as a physical copy.
Thank you, NetGalley and the author for a preview of this eBook.
Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing by Flora Waycott is a pretty book that is filled with how to draw everyday objects around you. It is a perfect gift for a beginner who needs inspiration.
Fun fact about me, I love “...and so can you” books! I have a serious anxiety issue when it comes to my own creativity! I love being creative and find myself with ideas galore. I want to sit down and create, but I always feel like I never have enough time to dedicate towards the creative process, and if I don’t have the time to dedicate to being great at a chosen creative outlet, why bother. By the end of the introduction, Waycott had me feeling inspired!
I enjoyed Flora’s confession of dreaming about traveling in-order to further her artistic skills, but not having the means, deciding to search her home, work and neighborhood for inspiration. Drawing and documenting every and anything she found interesting! Taking walks around your neighborhood with open eyes? Now that’s something I can do…. with my dog, even!! Two birds, one stone!
Throughout my life I have taken a lot of art classes. There are good teachers and there are bad teachers. Waycott is obviously one of the good ones. She knows what she’s talking about and she shares just enough to allow the reader to hit the ground running at their own pace. She kept encouraging the reader to use her samples, but then to take a look around their space and find their inspiration in their own worlds’. When she was listing the supplies that she uses, she did not mention many brands. She laid out the items that she typically uses, complete with sizes and styles, but only mentioned one brand that I remember. It seemed that she was genuinely telling the readers what worked for her and her personal advice on getting started. She wasn’t trying to sell the readers on anything. In fact, the best part was her emphasis on the fact that you don’t need to go out and purchase everything before you even begin (totally guilty of this), but you can instead, build your collection as you create and discover what works for you!
The only thing that I found to be a little bit of a negative (and I do mean little) was that the book is very geared towards Waycott’s personal drawing style. Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not. It’s her book! Will it make the book less appealing to people who don’t necessarily enjoy or want to illustrate in the same style? Probably.
The drawing tutorials were incredibly simple and easy to follow, but still awesome with an aesthetically pleasing depth to them. In some drawing books I have seen, nothing is explained. There are pictures and diagrams that you can’t understand, and then ta-da, you have a completed masterpiece which looks nothing like the version you’ve been drawing for 45 minutes. This didn’t happen with DELT! I tried a few of the exercises, and although they aren’t going to be hanging them in the Louvre anytime soon, I was still wicked proud of how they came out! DELT is receiving 4 stars from me and I would recommend it to anybody looking to add some whimsical and simple drawing skills to their repertoire.
I read this book because the description said it provided creative inspiration. I started painting later in life and need all the inspiration I can get. I have realized I need to improve my drawing skills to improve my paintings.
The items chosen for this book did not interest me. There were some good tips on drawing symmetrical objects. There are also some craft projects at the end of the book that I was not interested in.
There weren’t any projects I thought to be finished work. The author's style is a little whimsical and cartoonish for me.
I received this galley from NetGalley.
Started off feeling like this book was a little silly and stating obvious things, but the farther into the book I got the more it inspired me. I feel like this book could teach you how to make some of those lovely coloring books you can buy at the store and then you get to color it in yourself :)
So I've been trying to improve my drawing skills as a path into creative thinking, and to encourage my students to do so as well. I have tried several books on drawing this year, and I wish I had picked up this one first! The instructions are easy and flexible. The author focuses more on getting the inspiration and mastering techniques with materials rather than drawing weird proportional circles that you have to erase later. In sum, this approach made more sense for the way my mind works, though I suppose everyone has to work out this process for themselves.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for a digital ARC.
The art within isn't to my style, but it isn't bad.
The illustrations are good, the step by step breakdowns even better. All you need (other than the supplies obviously) is the willingness to learn, and patience. Because it isn't going to be easy starting. The book gets that, as it doesn't assume you know everything.
Check this out if you're an aspiring artist.
I loved this beautiful book! It achieved everything it's cover promises.
Cohesive aesthetic? Check.
Thorough explanations? Yup.
Flexible prompts to spur creativity? Very much so!
Accessible for beginners? Absolutely.
Useful for experienced artists? Yes, that too.
Inspirational? Well. of course!
Thanks to NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A very cute book filled with a hodgepodge of creative prompts, step by step drawing guides, and little assignments. I like th balance of instruction and prompts. Feels like a guided tour of your creativity. Like all art books, it starts with materials. These sections are very repetitive. It is broken up a little by themes: around the home, outdoors, everyday, and around town. Each of these has the prompts and instructions. The last section of the ebook has some full step by step projects. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a digital ARC to review!
This is an appealing book that will teach budding artists, including adults, how to draw more than 100 every day items. The author has a natural, chatty style as she describes the projects and how she became interested in each.
The book begins with general directions, a list of tools and materials, etc. It is then divided into chapters including Around the House, Get Outside!, Everyday Life and Around Town. There is also a final section on Crafting Projects. Each section has multiple ideas. For example, the section Around Town has two Creative Prompts: one on Bicycles and one on Mailboxes. There are then exercises that involve drawing a house, a cafe and a neighborhood map. Each of the other chapters is similar in organization. For all, there are detailed illustrated directions for drawing.
The book has a mix of color and black and white artwork. The finished projects look lovely and, at times, whimsical. Throughout, the book is inspiring and helpful. Readers will see that, even if not born an artist, you can learn to draw and enjoy creating your own works.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for htis read in exchange for an honest review.
Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing
By Flora Waycott
Being inspired by what is around you is not a new idea but it is easy to neglect and take for granted the things so near. I appreciated the author's encouragement to not fall into the trap that you have to travel to exotic places to find inspiration and beauty. The beginning of this book goes over tools to use, how to use the color wheel and basic drawing techniques. The Art of the book is split into 5 sections; Around the Home, Get Outside, Everyday Life, Around Town and the last Crafting Projects.
Altogether I think this was a good book for beginner artists. It shared valuable advice and encouraged creativity wherever you are.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
As someone who is not really gifted with the skill of drawing well, this is the book I’ve been looking for. It teaches comprehensive ways to be able to draw just about anything. Once you have the basics down, it becomes easier to draw most things.
Split into 4 sections, with each section offering guidance for warming up your drawing skills, stretching your drawing skills and working your way through guided projects, this book offers a wide range of tips, projects and guidance for drawing everything.
I love how the book starts by exploring where you can find inspiration and how to record your inspiration before moving onto tools and materials. Sometimes knowing where to start can be more daunting than the actual drawing so it is good that this book addresses that from the start. I especially love how the tools/materials/where to find inspiration/how to record inspiration is also portrayed through drawings - this completely matches the book's purpose which is to demonstrate and encourage how you can draw everything.
There is detailed information about colours, combining colours, the colour wheel and colour palettes.
This is a truly fabulous book for children and adults which is inspiring, encouraging and creative., I would highly recommend it.
Very cute. Simple way of bringing art into your life by being awake to every ordinary thing. Nothing is inferior for art. Loved the motifs of the moth wings.
'Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing: Learn to draw more than 100 everyday items, from food to fashion' by Flora Waycott seemed like an ambitious title for a book of 128 pages, but who's keeping track of these things?
After a charming introduction, and a helpful chapter on tools and materials, the reader/artist is taken in to various familiar areas like Around the Home or Everyday Life. Each of the 4 sections has a series of creative prompts to draw things like pets or gardening tools or lamps. These are followed by exercises where the prompts get put in to a larger project like a picture of the local park, or a homey view of plants and pets.
I liked the cozy and encouraging style of the writing. I do wish the drawing prompts had included perhaps a bit more instruction, or been varied as to build skills. It is approachable and would easily build confidence in anyone looking to do that.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Quarto Publishing Group - Walter Foster, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.
An approachable guide to creating whimsical, colorful drawings of everyday objects. Beginning artists to professionals will find the tips helpful and the exercises inspiring. Illustrated with plenty of cute drawings and step-by-step demonstrations. You'll want to start drawing everything around you!
Wonderful! I love this book. Simple and fun instructions and a recommendation for everyone who loves to draw or wants to learn how to draw.
A nice short book focused on the items that are being drawn. Not individual items on how to draw - some items on one project. Steps for a few items. How it would relate to each other.
Totally charming book with beautiful illustrations and easy to follow instructions. Can't wait to work through it properly with my daughter when she's old enough!
This book is great way to try something creative. You do not have to be an artist, it is fun to just slow down and try things. For any age that would like to create and try something.
So rarely does a book set out to achieve a goal and do so as thoroughly as this. Covers a lot of ground from tools to techniques to materials to how to draw every little thing. I'm a crap artist, but this book makes me want to be better.
A big thank-you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for giving me a copy of this book for an unbiased review.
3/5 - It was okay
This book follows the typical outline for a how-to guide on sketching and drawing. The beginning outlines basic art tips and rules, the next section offers some quick drawing prompts and objects to sketch, and it finishes up with three larger projects. In this, the book is good for beginners as well as seasoned artists looking for some inspiration.
What sets this book apart is its focus on the ordinary. The suggestion is to sketch quite literally everything instead of seeking a great big "something" to draw.
I enjoyed the book's sweet illustration style, its simple step-by-step instructions, and its suggestions of which mediums to use to get lovely illustrations. I did feel that it could have had more instruction and more focused prompts. In short, it was a worthwhile read and it may be good to add to any artist's collection.
This is an incredible cute book! I love how in depth it is and the illustrations are just adorable! This could be a great Christmas present.
This was a sweet book on everyday things you can draw and how to draw some of them. The author goes through some of the mediums she uses as well. She has a such a calming sweet look to her drawings.
Beautifully designed and with above the board, accessible tips for the person looking to inject some creativity and artistic pursuit into their life. I'm definitely buying the hard copy for my sketchbook project as, unlike some a other arts books I've looked or tried to use in the past, this one hits the mark between practicality and inspiration. A strong recommend!
This is a lovely little book filled with whimsical artwork and inspiration to create your own pieces.
The first few pages discuss the artist's love of drawing and the differing media she recommends.. I did like her tips on how to capture inspiration and the focus on the minutiae of every day life rather than looking at "big picture" scenes. As someone who is not an artist, both that and the basic art introduction she included was helpful.
The downsides to me, were the highly specific tutorial prompts (tea caddies and Japanese meals, which, while everyday items to the author are not for everyone) and a glossing over of detail in the step by step instructions.
Despite this, I plan to borrow this from my local library and re-read it when I want to be inspired to draw the little things.

Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing is a helpful guide book for any new artists, or artists hoping to advance their drawing techniques. Written by Flora Weycott, this book does exactly what it promises. It gives the readers a foundation in which they can then go ahead and drawing anything they so desire.

Not only is this guide extremely informative, but Flora Weycott’s artistic style is simply endearing. Her whimsical nature shines through in this guide, giving off a soothing feel while being simply adorable. It’s no surprise that others would want to learn the methods behind her artwork.
This book is seriously one of my favorite "how-to" books I have ever read. I am always so envious of people who can doodle well and wanted to improve my own skill so I felt like this book would be a good one and it definitely was! I loved how this book covered so many topics; essentially anything that I would probably want to learn to draw was in this book. It also made it so easy, especially for someone like me who is not artistic inclined at all. I am so happy I gave this book a shot and truly enjoyed it!
This is a very cute little book to get your artistic juices flowing, to start sketching, to add to it with colour, to incorporate your designs into bigger pictures, to put your own style into your sketching and most of all to have fun. Nothing in this book is hard to do, but it will inspire you to to create and sketch which in turn will evolve your own style in your art work.
Fun book for all ages with some craft items to make at the end.
If you enjoy doodling then this would make a great addition to your art collection. I loved trying to Draw every little thing!!
I would like to thank the publisher for giving me a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I love any book that helps me to draw better and I especially love it when there are so many examples and options. This is really a simple book without a lot of instructions but lots of step by step examples. There are so many options for drawing things. from indoor or outdoor and is perfect for journaling or planning. Also would be great to draw and paint. Think I might purchase the book just to have on my shelf when I need inspiration. Perfect for a little drawing pick me up!
Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to review this great drawing book.
This was such a pretty little drawing book, it inspired me to try my hand at all the different ideas. The instructions and descriptions were really well done and easy to follow!
I am always looking for new "doodles." This was a fun , and helpful book to inspire. Thanks Netgalley for the chance to preview this.
Such a fun book! My daughter and I love step by step drawing and doodling. This is great for every level and the doodles are adorable. I will be purchasing this to use in my schools art classes.
What a wonderful title! I am always grateful for a book that gives readers a chance to explore their inner artist without needing a protractor and a bunch of professional tools. This book is as lovely to look at as it is to read. Accessible drawings mean that everyone can draw something, even if you don't think you can. Takes the mystery out of art.
Look around you and draw! Sounds simple, right? However, if you are as artistically challenged as I am you will be grateful that Waycott has created this simple step-by-step guide to help translate what you see onto the page.
Draw Every Little Thing is a charming book of illustration that includes practical information about tools and techniques. There is a projects section at the end of the book with a small selection of giftable and/or practical applications of the art techniques covered. Of particular note are Waycott's botanical illustrations, which complement her comforting images of domestic objects nicely.
This book is simple but amazing! I am not a good artist but this book allowed me to draw simple object to add to my drawings in the background. The steps were easy to follow and there was a lot of objects to be inspired by.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This is a great how-to book that would be perfect and easy to follow by all ages.
There are so many things around us to draw, we just have to open our eyes.
When looking for something to draw, many aspiring artists cannot locate that “perfect thing.” Flora Waycott encourages us to look at the normal things around us. Everything is perfect for practice. For example, after reading this book, I notice the way my breakfast biscuit package is laying on my phone and my pencil is by my cup. The shapes, contrasts and shadowing would be perfect practice for me. Go out and really see what is around you.
I received an ARC from Quarto Publishing through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.
The author, Flora, takes you on a journey in this book to become more inspired with everyday life by encouraging you to draw the life around you, The lovely illustrations are not complex so even the absolute non-artist will not be intimidated. Flora goes into detail about the materials needed and the color wheel so that you have the knowledge starting right off to make creative illustrations.
Wholesome and adorable.
This is a beautifully colorful little how-to book for simple doodling. I think it's particularly good for beginners, but people who have taken a break from art or who have found themselves stuck recently will really appreciate it too.
