Description
An asteroid storm is coming that will destroy Earth.
A mysterious group within the government led by Colonel Cruikshank knew the storm was coming. They took extreme measures to keep the storm secret while building underground cities to protect the few and the fortunate. Cruikshank’s goal is that after the storm, his survivors will emerge from the protected cities as a more perfect humanity. He will create his utopian society named Arcadia, no matter what it takes.
Rick Munday is a husband, father, and struggling Astrophysicist who needs his grant approved. When Cruikshank learns that Rick’s grant proposal predicts the asteroid storm, he is drugged, kidnapped, and taken to an underground city named New Arcadia.
On his quest to escape from the Arcadians and get home to his family, Rick and new friends use their high-tech skills to warn the world of the coming disaster and expose the underground cities. Captain Kobalt, Cruikshank’s enforcer chases Rick and his friends across America leading to a climactic conflict between Rick and Kobalt.
Asteroids–Bridge to Nowhere is a fast-paced near-future dystopian adventure. Watch out! Tribulation will get you out there….

When I first saw this book, I was intrigued by the title and the synopsis. I immediately wanted to read it and I was not disappointed at all! It tells the story of what would happen if asteroids fell on earth. The story was told through different perspectives, such as an astronomer and his family, people of Homeland Security, the president and the government, etc. Even in one scene, the story switched back and forth between the two or more characters. I liked this a lot because you then know everything that happens. There were many complot theories and it was fun and scary at the same time. It makes you wonder if these things could be true and what other things in the world we don't know. The story got bigger and bigger over time, but it still remains easy to follow. I think it's because the author is good at explaining things. For example, about the asteroids or how things work and why.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone with interest in asteroids, complot theories and science fiction.
I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this. I can't wait for the next book. This story while dystopian, was based on a reality that could actually happen. I read many books, and I love to discover new authors. If you check out Asteroids, I am sure you will be glad you did.

I liked it but not as much as it may have deserved. I respect the amount of effort and dedication and I appreciate the research that went into writing this book, but it was just far too long. I think if this book had been trimmed a good 100 pages (at least), it would have worked better for me, but unfortunately the excessive length made it difficult for me to enjoy it to the extent I would have liked. Which is a shame.
It starts off as a very slow burn, which I actually didn't mind. Especially being a topic that interests me, I am a big fan of astronomy and that coupled with a doomsday scenario, is the reason I picked this book up. I read and enjoyed the first 2 parts of the book. I liked Rick's presentation and I loved the introduction to Arcadia and the dystopian angle. I also really enjoyed the politics game that was being played. Rob's cave was great & I loved the hacking part too.
I thought the build up with the introduction of the many characters was done very well, but was definitely over-written and needed to be edited down. I found myself getting quite weary by the half way point, knowing how much further I had left to go. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy the 2nd half as much, and ended up skimming through most of it just to get to the end. I wasn't really a fan of the cat and mouse game going on, it's just not what I wanted from the story but that's my personal preference.
I think it was really well written, so many great ideas, amazing premise, but I think in this case the author tried a little too hard.
