Description
TWO mismatched crews.
ONE universe at risk.
NO superheroes.
Nivala’s youngest crewmember remains in great danger. She has already endured treatment that nearly broke her defiant spirit, but her priceless mental link to the Chakran aliens has made her the most sought-after asset in the entire galaxy.
The Flatlanders haven’t overcome their greed. They still covet the Chakran ability to unlock spacetime and will do anything to get it. First, though, they mean to exact revenge — and Nivala is at the very top of their list.
As a resigned Mallivan and his battered shipmates struggle to prevent appalling harm, the alliance of misfits transforms into a tightly-knit team of friends who discover what selfless bravery really is.
... Because everybody knows two ships are going to be WAY too few.

A Note From the Publisher
Upbeat light Space Opera.
For Netgalley Reviewers:
This is the third book in a series, though hopefully also coherent as a stand-alone. The author is more than happy to supply the first two books on request.
If you prefer to dive right in, here are short summaries of the first two books to get you up to speed. These summaries, together with a glossary are also available through the website, link below.
Book 1, Termination Shock
A group of misfits find themselves in the middle of an interstellar war, buffeted from one crisis to the next. Ryler Mallivan, a young Spacelander with a bit of an attitude, becomes the leader of the mixed group. Mallivan saves a young Tyzaran girl, Zenzara. Unfortunately, the Tyzarans have something called the Savior Protocol, which demands that the person saved should dedicate their life to whoever saved them. Ryler is not too keen on the arrangement. Even at eight, Zenzara very much has a mind of her own and will say what she thinks. He can't imagine being shadowed by her for the rest of his life.
The Flatlanders have initiated the war and Bull Cunningham, a friend of Ryler's, turns out to be involved. A Flatlander scientist, Chandrayanan, has developed a weapon that could destroy all of spacetime if used against their main enemy, the Avaraks. Mallivan's small group finds itself at the center of the newly-formed Interstellar Enforcement Agency, and it becomes their job to stop the Terran Flatlanders from deploying the RAMP missiles.
To complicate matters more, Zenzara has become linked with the Chakrans, vast alien beings who span the cosmos. This makes her a valuable asset, particularly when this connection is crucial in disarming the Flatlander missiles and stopping the war. Unfortunately, in the process, the Chakrans have revealed that they contain exotic material.
Book 2, Interdicted Space
Although the RAMP missiles have been destroyed, Cunningham is still out there. He has found out about Zenzara's link and has realized that the Chakrans hold the key to Wormhole travel. With key technology stolen from the Nepheal depository by Cunningham, the Flatlanders, in conjunction with alien Vaers, kidnap her from the planet Nephealis and she is put through a terrible ordeal as they try to strip the link from her to access and trap the Chakran energy.
Mallivan and the others race across the galaxy to find her, finally locating the hub inside a carbon cloud. They manage to rescue her, but not in time to prevent Cunningham from beginning to form the first wormhole.
It is a race against time to prevent this happening. A wormhole opens, but they stop the Flatlanders using it and the Chakrans are able to close it, although there are casualties in the group.
