Mark Elliot is a Bible scholar and a professor of divinity at the University of Glasgow. He is an expert on the biblical topic, and it shows in this complete and thorough examination of what the Bible defines as providence, and the ways that God's providence differs from His acts of redemption.
Elliot first shows that the idea of providence is not just a useful term for deists, but is rather a thoroughly biblical concept. Then, he shows how a proper understanding of providence sheds new light on things such as God as the source and sustainer of life, and the DESIGNER and Planner for all of history and what will take place after the current age.
The author mainly stays away from complicated theological terms, but the subject of providence is a deep one, and some laymen may find it hard to stay with Elliot throughout the book. Still, biblical teachers and professors, as well as pastors and educated laypersons will find much valuable information and resources on this important topic. Recommended.
