Description
When Dawson McCade rescues a woman from the hands of Dog Soldiers, he doesn't expect to nearly lose his life and his heart. Translating for the Cheyenne is risky, but protecting Haven Oakley may be the most dangerous thing he's ever done. When he is wrongly accused of murder, he finds himself injured and on the run. Clearing his name will be the biggest hurdle of his life, but nothing will keep him from the woman who has captured his heart.
Haven Oakley is fighting to keep her homestead, working the claim her father died to protect and raising her two younger brothers. Soft-Spoken, Buckskin-clad Dawson McCade is the first man she has ever loved. But all too soon, her dreams are crushed when Dawson is arrested. Racing against time and risking all she has, Haven fights to free him of the charges and save the love she'd thought lost.

Good western story. Lots of sincere indian history too. More history than romance, but very enjoyable.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. The cover might allude to a cheesy romance, but although it has romance it also has lots of history and a very interesting storyline. Thank you publisher and netgalley for this arc in exchange of an honest review.
DAWSON'S HAVEN by Kim Turner. This tale tells the story of Dawson and Haven. Dawson is a protector and lives to help others. Haven is a young woman raising her younger siblings on her own. The story takes place in the old west and Ms. Turner did a good job of taking the reader back in time. The story was filled with many emotions and twists and turns. There was danger and excitement, love and sadness, and a bit of anxiety too. Being honest, the book did go a bit slow for a section for me, but once the storyline picked up, I could not put it down. I was so engaged and feeling all the feels - scared and helpless, happy and delighted - oh so many feels throughout. I have not yet read the earlier books in this series but look forward to checking them out. (received ARC from NetGalley for honest review)
This was an enjoyable book to read. It had suspense, excitement and romance. The storyline was good and kept me wanting to know what happened. The characters were strong especially Dawson and his Indian partner. They were brave and fearless. There was even humour in the story. I recommend that you read this book.
