An enchanting tale of lovable animal Star Friends who come to the human world to help create harmony by preform miracle and spreading love. Full of magic, rich characters, beautiful imagery, and colorful illustrations. Mirror magic was wonderful transition book for my 6 year old daughter as she moves from fully illustrated books to partially illustrated chapter books. This is a middle-grade, early reader book, and the start to a new series. We have star animals who need star friends (humans) to pair up with to help stop the spread of dark magic. The introductions are pretty hokey and typical of books written for this age group. However I was surprised that near the end things get a bit darker than I expected. It's very predictable who and how this will end. On page 10 before we even know about magic you'll be able to pick out who the 'savior' is gonna be. But that doesn't dissuade me from thinking there can be some great future stories here.
Definitely the kind of book/series that could get children loving reading. I'm going to get this one for my 7-year-old niece for sure as I love the itsy bit of darkness in the end and the friendship of the girls is even and well done.
Please note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an honest and unbiased review.
