Description

April Hunt "will keep you on the edge of your seat" with this heart-pounding romantic suspense novel of a military man and the one woman he can't resist (Lori Foster, New York Times bestselling author)

Roman Steele learned a hard lesson about trusting others. While serving his country, he put his faith in the wrong person and lost a leg for his loyalty. So far, civilian life suits him -- as long as he doesn't have to deal with anyone. But when he's called in to investigate a break-in at a high-security lab, he finds himself butting heads with the lead virologist, a woman as infuriating as she is beautiful.

When criminals break into Isabel Santiago's lab and steal a deadly virus, she's desperate to find the culprits before they turn her research into a weapon. But first, she must put her trust in the brooding security expert who sees danger around every corner. As she and Roman race to track down the culprits, these two unlikely partners find there's more at stake for them than they ever imagined possible -- but only if they stop the enemy in time.

Isabel was in the army but now works at Tru Tech as a virologist. She is studying a virus that is worse than Ebola or anything out there. When masked strangers break in and demand the vials, then disappear just as fast, the company hires Steele Ops. Roman was Special Forces until an IED took off part of his leg. Now he runs Steele Ops along with his brothers and other military vets. The company goes where other government agencies cannot. As Isabel works on a cure, a call comes in that they believe the virus has been released in Alaska. They must go up there and try to help the people of the little town. There is heat between Isabel and Roman but Isabel is too busy with work and Roman believes he doesn’t deserve her. When tragedy strikes, both realize they both deserve happiness.
I read this book in less than a day. Makes you think about what’s happening now in the world. Thrilling and suspense and some very smoking hot sex. I don’t know what else to say but you will not be disappointed in this story.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. I enjoyed the fireworks between Isabel and Roman. This was a fast paced romantic suspence. It kept me on the edge of my seat. This is the first book I have read by April Hunt and it won't be my last.

While I realize this is the third book in a series, I wasn’t lost starting with this one. Isabel and Roman kept me interested and worried about everything swirling around them from start to finish and took me on an adventure that was unpredictable. They had some push and pull because of pasts that they both needed to let go of, but with the help of some insistent friends and the danger of a virus being unleashed nationwide, they managed to find their way. Of course, it took Roman a little help from King’s unique methods for clearing the mind, but he figured out that he definitely had something to live for...and that knowledge helps him fight when he needs to give life his all.

I enjoyed everyone in this story and would definitely be interested in more because this author proved to be anything but boring!

Just finished April Hunt's newest Steele Ops book. This is the third in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. This one focuses on stoic Roman Steele and a sassy, kick-butt scientist named Isabel Santiago. They initially clash but it quickly becomes apparent it's just because they are passionate and protective. A virus is stolen from Isabel's lab and unleashed out in the world. As she races to find a cure, Roman and the Steele Ops team are in charge of security since the bad guys are relentless. Lots of action and some sexy times. Can't wait to see who headlines the next book because there are a couple of future storylines coming out of this book.

This is the 3rd book in the Steele Ops Series and I really enjoyed reading it. I was excited to get Roman's story, he has always come across angry but their is just something about his character that makes you want to know more about him, Isabel is a scientist working with deadly diseases and trying to find a cure for some of the worst ones out their. While working her lab is broken into and one of the samples are stolen, Steele Ops team is brought in to try and locate it and find the terrorist who have taken it. Roman is drawn to Isabel though it annoys him and she is to him even though he is sarcastic and rude at times. The two of them definitely have fireworks going off from the beginning! Her snarky comebacks are great when he is being very "alpha" and rude while trying to keep her safe from kidnappers. Fatal Deception was a great read and I was really happy to have read it. Can't wait for the next one in the series.

This was my first book by April Hunt and I quite liked it. It's an easy read, somewhat predictable though. An ex CIA agent, a beautiful doctor and a few very interesting side characters. It's a good suspenseful romance with very likeable characters. I really liked the story. Great ending but it was a tad inconsistent. I realize that the author was trying to keep you in suspense but I think she went a little to far off sometimes and made it hard to believe when the ending came around. Still, all in all it was a good book. It also dragged in the middle for me. It did pick up towards the end though. But overall the story flowed smoothly and it was interesting and it kept me turning tha pages, eager to find out how will the "thing with the deady virus" play out. There was also great tension in the plot and between the main characters which I liked very much. I'll defenitely check out the first two books in this series as well and I'm also looking forward to reading more books by Ms. Hunt.

This is my first book by April Hunt and I am all in now! I was worried about the virus storyline with everything happening in our pandemic filled world, but appreciated how the emphasis was more on retrieving the virus from the bad guys that it was on the actual virus situation. While we can all relate to being in quarantine and the threat of a virus, this looked and felt significantly different and worked for me. I have been in a reading space where suspense is what I have craved and I flew through this. It reminded me a little of Maya Banks KGI series. The alpha men were fierce and protective, but in this book, he took her personality into consideration and let her lead when needed. I definitely recommend.
