Meet Jeremy, you can see he’s none to thrilled to be stuck wearing a cone. But Jeremy is resilient and crafty and sly. He and the cone become one until the surprise ending (wait for it!) Beautifully illustrated by Mok and maybe, maybe, readers will see more?

Cone Cat by Sarah Howden was a cute story about Jeremy the cat who woke up at the vets with a cone on his head. I read this book with my 5 yr old and 9 yr old, they really enjoyed it. 9 yr old- "the story was really good as the cat didn’t like the cone but eventually learned to like it". 5yr old- "I liked that the cat was funny eating cereal”.
I was provided with an electronic ARC through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Jeremy wakes up at the vet, unhappy to find himself wearing a cone. He makes the best of it and ends up liking the cone.

Cone Cat helps kids understand that we can make the best of poor circumstances. I will add this to my classroom library and read it to my students.

A great example of how to make a not so good situation into a great situation. Cone cat knew how to look at the cup half full!

This book is absolutely adorable and shows how a cat can make the most of a difficult situation.
Cone cat is upset that he is unable to do the things he once could due to his cone, however he quickly learns that his cone can be used as a tool to get what he wants! My favorite part of this book is that the illustrator was able to create Cone Cat's expressions perfectly with the story!

I would recommend this to children and adults because it is just too cute!

Thank you NetGalley and Owlkids books for this ARC!

This is a cute little picture book that cat-loving kids are likely to enjoy about a cat who wakes up with a cone on and has to learn to navigate life around it. He eventually finds some reasons to actually like it (though it is temporary), giving a little lesson in looking for the bright side. My daughter had fun with it and I really liked the art.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.

My daughter and I loved this story. We really enjoy books about cats and this was a great one. Jeremy the cat wakes up with a cone around his head. At first he’s not to happy about it but quickly learns it has its advantages. Very cute read with beautiful illustrations. We hope to see more of Cone Cat in the future! Thank you to @netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book is quite timely as it takes an less than ideal circumstance and finds the positives in it. Cone Cat learns how to utilize the situation for his own gain. While it could be used in any circumstance, right now could be a tool to open up discussions about sheltering at home and COVID-19. Some children may be struggling right now and parents not knowing how to best approach it. What are the positives? It is a life skill that some of us even as adults need to remember and use.
The illustrations were cute and funny. The situations could be somewhat believable.
I would recommend this book for parents of young children, school & public libraries

We enjoyed reading this together as a family! We've had a cat in the same situation and found all of Jeremy's reactions very relate able. The illustrations made Jeremy's adventures lots of fun and we especially loved the surprise at the end when he had a cone plus a cast. This book will be a great one to read to classrooms!

Jeremy the cat is displeased by his cone, fearing that his days of fun are over. That is, until he discovers that his cone makes him capable of some cunning feats! A very cute picture book.

Absolutely adorable! Jeremy wakes up at the vet to find a cone on his neck and his life has to change to adapt. Jeremy is sad at first, but then finds ways to use the cone to benefit him! (I don't think my cat has found much benefit to the cone when she has to wear it.) A cute picture book that is funny at any time, but would be especially great for kids when their beloved pet has to don the cone of shame.

Cone Cat wakes up at the vet to discover quite the change and it is NOT a welcome one. This new cone around his head makes life much more difficult. But can Jeremy find benefits to this new addition? Can he find the positive in this change?
I love that this book highlights the pros and cons of change and how being adaptable has it's advantages.

I really liked this book. It's a great book to read when your little one gets hurt and needs to see the bright side. It is also more than that. As an adult with a disability, it really moved me. I think it can be helpful for anyone whose life sudden;y changes with something that can inhibit their life. I loved this.

Jeremy is an adorable little cat who wakes up one day at the vet's. He discovers he has a HUGE cone around his head and he is not pleased. How can he function normally with that hideous contraption on him? He finds out it's not easy. He finally admits that he has been reduced to a smelly, clumsy Clone Cat... oh my!

Miraculously, Jeremey learns through trial and error that his cone may be a blessing not a hinderance. Cone Cat has superpowers that plain old Jeremey lacks. When he is sneaking some of Ava's leftover cereal, the milk and cereal poured not only into his mouth but into the cone too, allowing him to save some for later. How cool is that? The spider he previously had been stalking and now has gulped down isn't much of a catch... yuk! He can detect Ava's approach before she even leaves her room if he tilts his head at the right angle. Now that's a plus! His greatest victory is at Ava's birthday party when he disguises himself as a bowl. I wonder what that' s all about? You will love Jeremy's ingenuity and creativity on this one but no spoiler from me.

The illustrations are extremely well done. Jeremy's antics and expressions are pure... cat! If you own a cat or have access to one you will totally understand what I mean and they make you laugh. I thoroughly enjoyed "Cone Cat" and I highly recommend it.

I am so capital-E-excited to buy this book for our local animal rescue! Jeremy the cat has to learn to overcome the frustration of having to wear the dreaded cone when he comes home from the vet, but he quickly learns that the cone has unique benefits all its own. This story is a fantastic way to open a child's eyes to the hidden potential of dealing with injury and frustration in their own lives!

So so so funny! The cat is just such a cat - all about food, and avoiding the kid, and getting into things. It was just a great story. Kids will want to read it over and over.

I received an ARC through NetGalley from Owlkids Books. This picture book focuses on a cat who after a visit to the Vet has to wear a cone. At first he is frustrated, but then he sees the benefits or perks of wearing the cone. This is a good story for a child with a cast or something that is holding them back. It will make them see the bright side and know they could have a hidden super power too. The illustrations were cute, Jeremy the cat was funny and it was easy to read. Ages 3-7.

Thank you to Sarah Howden, Owlkids Books, and Net Galley for the ARC of Cone Cat! Cone Cat was a sweet book about learning to love the things that we might first not like. I really enjoyed the sweet story, and the pictures were beautiful! My son, who is 5, really enjoyed the book, and asked to read it again!

A wonderfully sweet story. One that any cat lover can identify with. The cat behaves and gets into trouble just like cats will do. It’s funny and kids everywhere will find all the antics hysterical. I did!

Jeremy the cat wakes at the vet with a new and troublesome Cone. As Cone Cat, he can't seem to do anything he used to do...until he discovers that the cone may actually help him out and sometimes rewards him with tasty (milk, ice cream) and not-so-tasty (spider) treats! My 4-year-old enjoyed this a lot and spent the evening pretend playing as Cone Cat after we read it multiple times. His favorite parts are the cat ripping the stuffing out of the chair and also the phrase "fat squirrel." Four stars.

Cone Cat is a hilarious children's book about a cat who wakes up suddenly wearing the dreaded cone. He struggles being his normal self with this new contraption, but soon finds out having the cone isn't so bad after all. He just has to learn to do things a little differently. Beautiful illustrations with comically drawn scenes. Overall and adorable storybook about new limitations and powering through them.

Upon discovering the strange new contraption around his head, Jeremy the Cat is not happy. The horror… The audacity… Jeremy the Cat has donned the cone of shame!

After a momentary crisis, Jeremy the Cat has accepted his role as… Cone Cat. However, upon acceptance of this new role, Cone Cat discovers the hidden perks of his new identity and uses it to his full advantage.

The illustrations are cute and vibrant. I love how Jeremy’s expressions are conveyed so well! The use of bright colours captures the light-hearted tone of the story well whilst keeping the readers engaged.

Overall, Cone Cat is an adorable and fun read that presents readers that one can always endeavour to make the best of poor circumstances and difficult situations. Owners and cat lovers may relate to Jeremy's behaviour and antics and I enjoyed reading this so much. Plus, the ending made me laugh out loud. I highly recommend this read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers (OwlKids Books) for providing me with a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

This review will be posted on my blog closer to the publication date.

This book was hilarious and so cute! My kids are going to LOVE IT.

Cute and funny! Jeremy the cat wakes up at the vet's office one day with a cone (the reason is never explained). He resigns himself to being Cone Cat now, clumsy, smelly, and unable to do all his favorite things. Then he discovers the cone can be useful, and being Cone Cat isn't so bad! One of his humans removes his cone one day, and while he's glad to be back to normal, he's a bit sad that the glory days of Cone Cat are done......or are they?
The ennui in Jeremy's telling of his story is perfect, and the artwork expresses cat-ness very well- anyone who's ever been owned by a cat will be able to relate, but the story will still be amusing to those who haven't had that pleasure. Definitely recommended!

Jeremy the cat is suffering. He’s now a cone cat. He will never be the same. His super cat senses have been bungled. He’s bumping into things. He doesn’t smell so good. Oh, the indignity!

When he attempts to enjoy his human’s leftover bowl of cereal, he asks the cone for help. And something magical happens. The cone becomes his friend as well as a useful container to store milk and cereal and other delightful treats. But what happens when the cone is removed? Will anything compare to those glory days?

Sarah Howden’s text shares the wry observations of a cat’s life, while Carmen Mok’s playful illustrations capture all the emotions Jeremy experiences with and without his cone. There is much to enjoy here, especially for cat lovers.
