Description
Michael Hamlin has always been fascinated by the ocean but lived his whole life on a northern Oregon dairy farm. Following his father’s death, he assumed he’d run the dairy but his headstrong mother has other ideas. Two years of having his suggested changes to benefit the business ignored is bad enough. But when his mother and sisters start matchmaking attempts, he follows his passion, ending up in Spruce Hill on the Pacific Ocean coast as a lighthouse keeper. The chance to do something heroic is just what he needs, even if life on the ocean’s edge is a bit mundane…and lonely.
Novice reporter Nadina Cutler is bent on proving her worth to the editor of The New Northwest, a suffragette newspaper. Her prominent Portland, Oregon, real estate family indulges her wish to pursue journalism but only until her upcoming twenty-second birthday. Unless she can prove her earnings amount to more than her trust fund income, she’s expected to return to Portland and marry to benefit the family’s social status. After interviewing the manager of a dairy farm, Nadina then travels to Spruce Hill to do a follow-up with the wayward son.
But nothing goes right. Their personalities clash. Nadina pushes for answers and Michael clams up. He’s not interested in reconnecting with the family that rejected him and Nadina has to find a big story to secure her freedom. Then an ocean tragedy forces them to work together and they see each other in a new light. Will their temporary partnership grow into something more?

The books I have read in this series have all be wonderful and this is no exception. Set mainly on the coast of the Pacific Ocean with vivid descriptions to make you feel you are there.
The story of Michael, who grew up on a dairy farm, but not allowed to actually run the farm after his father passes away. His mother and sisters try to maintain control and want him to find a bride.
He sets out to follow his dreams and goes to the coast as a lighthouse keeper. There he runs into Nadine Cutler, who is trying to get great stories for a suffragette paper and these two clash.
But the two are brought together unexpectedly and work their way to their happy ever after.. Lovely story
Interesting premise with a rookie reporter Nadia Cutler, determined to break out of the traditional role of daughters in her wealthy family, which is to marry from family advancements, and has agreed she will work for a year and try and earn enough money to match her trust fund income. A passsionate suffragette, she goes to work for a feminist publication - The New Northwest.
Nadia goes to a dairy farm in Oregon to meet the female owner, who farms with her daughters. She learns from them that her son has gone off to be a lighthouse keeper on the Pacific Ocean Coast.
Mikael Peddersson has changed his name and moved to Spruce Hill, because he clashed with his mother when his father died and he expected to be in charge. After two years of his ideas not being taken on board by his mother, he is fed up and he leaves.home to start a career as a lighthouse keeper.
When Nadina arrives with Michael’s sister Gala, she is instantly attracted to Michael, and he to her, when an ocean tragedy means they have to work together to resolve it, they grow closer and make their way to a very sweet HEA, but will Nadina’s background and reporting target come between them.
A delicious hero, some lovely descriptions of the nature and the ocean, and a feminist heroine make for a very pleasant read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This book's title is a bit misleading. Yes, she is a suffragette, but the book is more about the relationship and the pressure that families put on them. Still I really liked the book. It was a good story and I was rooting for the characters to get their happy ending.
