Description

Frederick the frog isn't looking for adventure. His life in the family pond—hanging out and catching flies—is perfect. Or it would be if a bully wasn't harassing the youngest frogs. To defend them, Frederick accepts a fly-catching challenge, but what he catches isn't an insect. It's a magic ring, and Frederick has swallowed it! Whenever he burps or coughs, something terrifying happens to the pond.

"Frogs shouldn't have anything to do with human things," says wise Uncle Ben, so to protect his family, Frederick must leave the only world he knows.

The world beyond the pond is frightening, but rather than hide or mope, Frederick sets out to get rid of this dangerous human thing. His only hope is to find the small human who tossed the ring into the pond, the boy chased by big men and bigger horses. The boy is in trouble, too, but how can Frederick, one little frog, save a human, much less the pond from an evil sorcerer?

A middle grade chapter book, 16 chapters, approximately 18,000 words.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. This book is cute for around a eight year old and up. This book has frogs, a wizard, magic, and a boy. If you are not interested in magic with book is not for you. The story was really fun to read! This is a chapter book. I give this book four stars. It is only on kindle. I like having an actual book, so cut one star for that. You can buy on Amazon for $.99. I do recommend this book. Really fun story.

A cute fairy tale type story about a young frog who's really good at fly-catching. The action starts right away, and doesn't let up throughout this tale. There's a magic ring, an evil sorcerer, a boy in trouble, a mouse who may be more than she seems, and of course, our brave hero, Frederick. With the help of his friends, will Frederick be able to save the day? Read and find out! I enjoyed this story, it's a fun, quick read for kids moving into chapter books to those comfortable with chapter books but wanting something short. I wouldn't have minded the story being a little more fleshed out, but it does a good job telling the story as it is. Will keep the reader interested for sure!
