The Well House: A Man’s Incredible Journey To Save His Pregnant Wife From the Ultimate Evil
The dream is back and Ben Carson is terrified. His pregnant wife, Anne, is locked in a coma and Ben is the only person who can save her but he has no idea how to accomplish this. His dreams contain clues but they make no sense. Ben can’t figure what a small white well house and black flying creatures have to do with Anne. Then he meets a mysterious woman named Thelma Grippe.
What he learns from Thelma shakes him to the core, but gives him the knowledge to free Anne from the force keeping her in the coma. Once he locates the well house, Ben finds a passage to another dimension, where he searches for Anne. After a long, arduous journey, Ben faces the ultimate evil that holds Anne captive.
The Well House is an exciting, unique and thoughtful story of a man’s fight against unbelievable odds to save his wife. Part drama, part fantasy and part parable, The Well House is a multi-layered tale that takes you on an amazing journey, from the mountains above Boulder Colorado to the depths of the dark zone.
Advance Praise
The Well House is a taut, well-crafted chilling story by Matassa. The majority of the book is merciless and unforgiving in terms of psychological fear - it may make some readers want to have a couple of dreamless nights afterward.""-Lit Amri for Readers' Favorite
Romance and horror must be of the most unforgiving literary genres when it comes to finding a fresh storyline, but The Well House by author M.S. Matassa is notably original.
Matassa really does take his readers on a journey that is unpredictable and exciting, taking the enthralling concept of dreams and the power they exert over our lives to give his readers something to wrap their heads around and send heart rates racing. A powerful and captivating tale from the start. - BookViral

This book kept me intrigued through the last pages, wondering what would happen next; I could hardly put this one down! If you like a good horror and do not mind a lot of religious references, this book is for you. In the battle of good against evil, struggling writer Ben realizes the only way to save his wife Anne who is in a coma and their unborn child is to fight the devil himself. Through a series of recurring nightmares and a medium named Thelma Grippe and her daughter Penelope, Ben is given the chance to save Anne from eternal rest. As her conditon worsens and he is running out of precious time, he gets the tools he needs and goes on an adventure he won't soon forget, along with his trusty canine Sherman.
What I didn't like about this book, it seemed very far fetched at times. There is a scene where his son Tyler has a run in with the black, scaly winged creatures which look like blackbirds, but are actually small demons who turn full sized and more like into men/soldiers and they start to speak to him, telling him "Tell your dad to back off, Anne and the baby are property of the devil now", as a warning, they take out Tyler's eyes, and the reader is like seriously, what just happened? But the writer did a good job of blending real life and nightmares, as Tyler's eyesight ends up being perfectly fine.
Jack St. Louis appears in this dream and he was a very well developed character, you start to like him at first, with his Crocodile Dundee appearance and demeanor, he seems like the perfect ally, but although the end of the book surprised me, it really made perfect sense.
Give this book a chance if this sounds like something you would enjoy reading. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a chance to give you an honest review.
I love a good horror and this one hit the spot! There is a sense of dread from the first chapter that just builds as the books evolves. I knew from the beginning it would be a good vs. evil play but it was well built throughout the book. There were some times when I felt Ben was rather naive, but it played into the story. If you are looking for a horror story without a lot of gore but still want to be kept on the edge of suspense I'd pick this book up! Can't wait to pick up the next book!
