In "Carmina: The Nomad Odes", Perre continues to display the originality and lyricism that he displayed in his award-winning debut collection, 'A Confederacy of Joy." In this his latest collection, dedicated to the master ode writer, Pablo Neruda, Perre displays his erudition on the theme of the nomad. Through a variety of subject matters he weaves an intoxicating and fascinating song in each and every poem.
As the front matter quote by Rainer Maria Rilke ("I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world.") evokes takes the reader on a journey both internally, externally, geographically, and emotionally through the lyric prism of his experience and unique perspective.
A unique poetry/prose style all his own, one sees in his poems the vision of Philip Levine and Larry Levis, the burnished beauty of James Wright and the passion of Pablo Neruda.
In these carmina (Lat. odes, songs) we find a clarion voice of exceptional intricacy and care.
This collection is no less than highly recommended for those discerning of the poetic craft.

Odes.
There is something about being nomadic that causes introspection and Perre captures this perfectly in each stanza. With few words a picture forms and thoughts start to flow.

Really enjoy reading this book , I can say that I feel joyful after this reading. The poems are young and refreshing, very easy read with one of my favourite poems being “Life Itself”

These nomad odes are definitely that. Feel older, more poetic and flow so beautifully. These are gorgeous prose of love and emotions. Definitely suggest anyone and everyone who loves poetry to give this a go.
