This book is a childhood classic, but listening to the audiobook version as an adult was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to anyone who grew up loving this story and the characters. Fall in love all over again with Mary, Colin, Ben Weatherstaff, Martha, Dickon, and the little red robin. My only (minor) issue with this audiobook version was that the sound quality sometimes was a bit off, but it could have been a problem with my ear buds.
A timeless classic for young and old alike. I loved this reader she reminded me of Julie Andrews and she did an excellent job on all the voices. Thank you so much to the publisher and to NetGalley for this audio book. I highly recommend it!
A gorgeous interpretation of a classic! Burnett's narration, paired with magical and musical sound effects, brings this childhood tale to life in an interesting and engaging way. Definitely one to listen to for the whole family!
This abridged audio version of The Secret Garden has been beautifully remastered for new generations.
The shortened version is cohesive and perfect for little ones just being introduced to Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic. It's also great for those who grew up loving the book to listen to.
Glenda Jackson did a fantastic job narrating. It's as if an English governess is telling a bedtime story, and the sound effects added make the story fun and atmospheric.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Harper Audio for the ALC.
My absolute all time favorite children's book in audio format! I'm in absolute heaven! It was so much fun to hear it brought to life in with a narrator giving a bit of personality to each of the characters that elevates them and helps them become more real! If you haven't bought this book for the children in your life, you absolutely should then you should download the audio and let them experience it that way as well. It is a delightful treat that no one, adult or child should miss out on! It's been more than 40 years since I first read this book and I love it today as much as I did then.
This audiobook of a classic wonderful story was beautifully done. My children and I listened to it and loved it.
This is a fabulous audio edition of the Secret Garden. I loved the narrator and thought she did a fantastic job. The narrator did a great job adding a little touch of personality to each of the characters and it added a lot to the story. I love the story of the Secret Garden and it was lovely to listen to it told through audio.
Argo Classics has made me happy. They have created an audio version one of my childhood favorites, The Secret Garden. And even better it lived up to my expectations. The book is still magic. Glenda Jackson’s narration is perfect with her voice changes for the different characters, including the change in the imperialist voice of Colin as he, with the help of Mary and Dickon discover the magic of the garden. Its funny how after so many years, it’s the crow and not the robin, I remember as showing Mary the key to the garden. I loved the sound effects in the audio version including the robin’s song.
