What Will Fit?

A cute and simple board book perfect for introducing young children to sizes, shapes, and fitting objects to specific shapes. I also love how Grace Lin's illustrations are always cute and inclusive in their diversity.

This is a lovely autumnal board book, with a bit of awesome math right under your nose. Olivia is wandering around a farmer's market looking for the perfect vegetable to fit in her basket. This one in particular would go really well with activities. You can find a container and search for something that fits perfectly or you can read it after you go to the grocery store and find some yummy fall veg.

The illustrations in this book are wonderful and vibrant. The main character wants to fill her basket full of items, and she keeps putting things in there to fill it up. This is a great book about quantities and how things are different sizes, so they take up different amounts of space.

This colourful book can be incorporated into any STEM curriculum to help young children start to explore math concepts. To help parents and educators pose the question to children "where can we use math every day?"

The little girl in this board book is trying to figure out what will fit exactly in her basket. She tries different items at the Farmer's Market. Some are too small, some need to be bigger, others are too tall, too long, not wide enough and finally just right.

This book can assist with starting some math related questions and making math fun for children. Having different sized objects that can then be filled with other items.

This story gives a simple way to introduce math concepts in a living way for young minds to easily understand. The vibrant pictures and real-world examples can help show that math is fun, not intimidating.

I really like that there are “Exploring the Math” and “Try This!” sections at the end! This is so helpful for taking it from just a story to an actionable lesson and activity that sticks!

Lin offers math concepts in simple to follow books for very young readers. In this book, the girl tries to figure out what fits in her basket. She tries a variety of fruits and vegetables until she finds a perfect fit. The illustrations are brightly colored and let readers play with math skills on their own or with adults. Ideas for skills to try are included at the end of the book.

Perfect for PK families and teachers looking to connect math to the real world. Readers get to follow a young girl to the farmers market as she tries to fill her basket "perfectly" with food. The illustrations have a great welcoming point of view. The math and lessons are subtle, and the girl has nice soft expression. Love it!

Grace Lin has another wonderful interactive book with 'Will It Fit?', perfect for the fall season. The colors and illustrations are vibrant and beautiful, and lend themselves easily to a library storytime. The inclusion of activities on the last page of the book will give parents (some who might be homeschooling due to the pandemic) easy ways to foster their child's learning.

For library storytimes, I think this book will lend extremely well for feltboard storytimes, recreating the story with new objects and boxes or baskets and having the children participate to figure out which item fits perfectly.

This is a very simple and sweet picture book. It is great for toddlers and preschoolers, and I love that it’s inclusive and diverse. It is a really really short book, but nonetheless it’s a great tool for learning and teaching younger kids.

A simple short picture book to introduce ideas of shapes and spatial sense. The illustrations are bright and simple, great for young readers. I especially appreciated the activity suggestions offered at the end of the book too.
