No other author besides Sutanto can get me to LOL reading about her heroine's mom helping her hide a dead body. DIAL A FOR AUNTIES is my pick for the most anticipated rom-com of 2021!

I'm so happy I got to read it and also can't wait to watch the Netflix version.

Meddelin Chan is tired of her Indo-Chinese mother and aunties interfering in her love life, but she didn't expect her latest blind date to end up with her needing to hide a dead body. And once her aunties get involved, things get messier and messier until that dead body threatens to ruin a wedding in front of 2000 guests.

HILARIOUS. This was such a ridiculously fun romp, with laugh-out-loud dialogue and surprising twists from beginning to end. Meddelin and her family are so well crafted, and their adventure is delightfully outlandish. This is definitely going to become a Swiss Army book recommendation for me -- everyone will love it!

Absolutely loved it. Funny, witty, with tons of voice that makes every character come alive on the pages. Part murder mystery, part rom-com, a full immersion into the Chinese-Indonesian culture... and a group of loveable, bickering, headstrong and fiercely loyal aunties you can't help but fall in love with. By the time I finished reading I was desperate to meet the aunties and had developed a serious craving for dim sum.

Absolute non stop fun. This book is pitched as a Crazy Rich Asians meets Weekend at Bernies and that's exactly what it is! Everything that could go wrong, does, and by the 75% mark you are wondering to yourself how the heck is everything going to wrap up? It's got a little heist flavor but also deeply romantic, and also just a wonderful commentary on family. The main character is formidable and decisive and the perfect pacing invites you to a thrilling roller coaster ride of a narrative. Love love love!

This book was hilarious! If you enjoy dark humor, you've got to check this one out. It's basically chick lit meets a murder mystery and it's full of wacky, wonderful characters that are diverse and superbly written. This book is smart, it's funny, and you will love it from cover to cover.

Dial A for Aunties is an utter delight from start to finish. It is a mix of Crazy Rich Asians and Weekend at Bernie's, which is exactly the mashup I didn't know I needed. I laughed out loud more times than I can count. The aunties themselves are imperfectly perfect, the heroine excellently flawed in her attempts to bridge the two worlds she lives in, and the hijinks were pitch-perfect.

If this isn't optioned for film already, I will be shocked.

I'm so glad to hear this is going to be adapted by Netflix. It has a perfect mix of hilarity, pratfalls, romance, and family drama and will make a great show. I think the biggest challenge will be transferring Meddy's pitch-perfect voice and inner monologue to the screen.

This book is so much fun, hilarious, and unexpectedly grabbed my heartstrings in several places (I may have teared up a little bit about the power of parental/familial love. I mean, what better measure of a devoted parent could you ask for than "is willing to help you dispose of the corpse of the man you accidentally killed"?)

Part of what makes this book so enjoyable is the deft handling of side characters and subplots. There are quite a few of both, leading to some (intentionally) frenetic pacing, but it never felt like too much, and I cared about everyone (there's one friends-to-enemies-to-lovers relationship in particular that I squee'd very loudly about).

All in all, a delightful read.
