Best bread I have ever made, the recipes turn out to perfection. I was never able to fine a bread maker recipe on the internet that worked right. I loved the pumpkin pie bread so delicious.
What a fantastic cookbook! Michelle Anderson includes recipes for MANY types of bread that can be easily made using your bread machine. She explains the entire bread making process! I am eager to get started baking these breads (some of the traditional regional breads I haven't ever heard of!) - I hope my attempts turn out half as lovely as the photos in the book.
I used to make bread and knead it by hand, but my arthritis began making it painful, so I bought a bread machine. It does a great job at kneading and baking, but I miss some of the loaves I used to make and was looking for a book that would help me fill that gap. This book definitely met my expectations and then some.
The first section provides an understanding of bread, its ingredients and the tools you need to turn out artisan breads from your machine. The rest of the book is dedicated to recipes for everything from Baguettes and Batards to Muesli Bread, Cinnamon Bread and Challah. I’ll be baking my way through them all and my daughter will be getting a copy for Christmas along with her new bread machine from Santa.
I love this book. In a time when many of us are baking bread at home, this is a fantastic guide. Informative. So many delicious and easy to follow recipes. I can’t wait to try so many of them!
Making Artisan Breads in the Bread Machine is easy to follow and quite informative. I enjoyed reading the facts and tips at the beginning which definitely comes in handy when trying out the recipes. It’s also really pretty and made me really excited to read and try the recipes right away. The book is definitely going to be a keeper for those either starting out in bread baking or those who already are experienced.

I moved into my current home over a decade ago. During the move, some items were lost. One was the recipe book that came with my bread machine. That forced it into becoming a dough stirring machine, which in turn stopped me from using it and making yeast breads at home.
Because of the pandemic, I have three more hours in my day to fill (no more 2.5 hour LA commute plus only a half-hour lunch). First, I quarancleaned. Then I redecorated. Next, I started cooking tasty recipes I found online. Now, I’m trying to up my bread game.
The recipes found within the book look and sound tasty. I am somewhat disappointed that only about 25% are made entirely in the bread machine. However, I do understand to get a nice baguette or braided rope shape you can’t use the machine for anything after the dough cycle. I made the Portuguese Sweet Bread because all I had to buy was new yeast. It came out perfectly golden brown and tasted great. Next, I’m going to try the Cottage Bread before I get more exotic and include some add-ins like the fruit, nuts and seeds.
Overall, if you also have an old bread machine gathering dust in your house, Making Artisan Breads in the Bread Machine is a great way to start using it again. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars!

Has some great sounding recipes and I cannot wait to try them. Bread has never been my strong suit, but I hope to get better.
I just got a Kitchen aid mixer to make bread. So this was a perfect cookbook to read! I really enjoyed the introduction, it gave great detail on ingredients, measuring, using a bread machine, and troubleshooting! Hawaiian sweet bread is one of my favorite breads and it’s recipes is so easy to make! This cookbook has great pictures and very thorough recipes. This easy to navigate cookbook has wide variety of recipes that is great for any baker’s library!

The beginning of the book discusses what gluten is and the factors such as flour, fat, salt, sugar and water amounts that can affect gluten development.
You will learn the steps that are necessary in making bread and why they are done in a certain way.
The four basic ingredients that are necessary in making bread are: flour, water, salt and yeast.
You are introduced to "wild yeast", yeast that occurrs naturally and is gluten -free.
The introduction of eggs, dairy, fruits, nuts and cocoa powder are discussed so that you can make your bread sweet or in a different texture - such as challah, rolls, or bagels.
You will learn how to use a bread machine to make different types of bread, bread doughs and even jam! Pay close attention to the instructions so your product turns out the way you want it to. You are even given a section on troubleshooting to find out why your bread did not turn out the way it should have.
You will find recipes for whole wheat bread, buttermilk bread, Iceland brown bread and even Russian Black Bread!
There is a recipe for rye bread that looks very easy to make - try the simple recipes first so you can feel successful!
You will find recipes for honey french bread, ciabatta and soft french bread that are unique and will showcase your new skills!
The recipes for brioche and stollen will delight those members of your family with a sweet tooth!

Making Artisan Breads in the Bread Machine by Michelle Anderson is an absolutely wonderful bread book as the author meticulously details how to create delicious bread using your bread machine.
Her book starts off with the details that cover what type of bread machine to purchase to ingredient details. She also covers how to successfully bake bread at high altitudes and how to troubleshoot bread failures.
What I liked most is she gave both weights and measures in her recipes. Through my many years of bread baking I have discovered, especially when using the bread machine, I've had more success baking bread machine bread when I weigh the ingredients.

Making Artisan Breads in the Bread Machine is a tutorial guide and cookbook with recipes developed by Michelle Anderson. Released 3rd Nov 2020 by Quarto on their Harvard Common Press imprint, it's 208 pages and available in paperback format.
The included breads cover a wide range of traditions - using an impressive array of base ingredients with a variety of nuts, seeds, fruits, and other add-ons to create quality breads both savory and sweet. The book's introduction includes a good basic crash-course on baking bread, what makes good bread *good*, the necessary tools and supplies, and an overview over bread machines and what to look for. The second part of the book contains the recipes grouped roughly thematically: traditional loaves, classic crusty loaves, sourdough breads, sweet breads, flatbreads rolls & bagels, seed nut & fruit breads, and herb cheese & other flavored breads.
Recipe ingredients are listed bullet style in a sidebar. Measurements are given in US standard with metric equivalents in parentheses (yay!). Special tools and ingredients are also listed, along with yields and cooking directions. Most of the ingredients are easily sourced at any moderately well stocked grocery store. Nutritional information is not included. Tips and variations on each recipe are included at the end of the recipes.
I would estimate that about 25% of the recipes include pictures. The photographs are clear and serving suggestions are attractive and appropriate. There are some less than ideal omissions - for example, the challah recipe doesn't show how to fold the bread (there is a written description). It's not a major problem; the descriptions and videos can be found online, but it's worth a mention.
The book also includes a short author bio and a cross referenced index.
Five stars. This would make a superlative selection for cooks who want to get more use out of their bread machines and are looking for do-able recipes for a number of traditional loaves. Note: they're not all absolutely traditional, there are some shortcuts included for convenience.

What a gorgeous book! Pretty much everyone can relate to some type of obsession with homemade bread. The smells, the taste, and the basic feeling of completeness when you are primitive enough to bake your own. The book has a wealth of information on ingredients, and some simple facts about making bread.
What did I like? The cookbook itself was just simple recipes... from regular bread (rye, white, wheat) to more flavorful or additional ingredients (pumpkin, seeds, herbs). The pictures of the bread were lovely and really upped the appeal of the cookbook. It even boasts a huge sourdough bread section for one of the chapters. I would definitely love to buy a bread making machine and try a few of these recipes.
Would I recommend or buy? Yes, I would love a copy for my shelves. It’s a simplistic but gorgeous book. With the way things are going in the world and people staying home from pandemic this would be a fun way to spend a day. Imagine the delicious smells coming from the oven as you make your own bread.

What a fabulous resource to have in your kitchen! <u>Making Artisan Breads in the Bread Machine</u> is an absolute "must have"for us bread machine owners!
The author has traveled the world and learned from the best of the best. These recipes are simple to follow and there are troubleshooting pages to help you figure out what went wrong if all that measuring and eager anticipation was not rewarded with a perfect loaf of bread. The first few (short and concise) chapters are devoted to ensuring that you understand just how a good loaf of bread is born.
Want a sampling of the many excellent recipes in this book? Apart from your standard white and whole wheat breads, gluten free breads, sourdough and rye breads, there are numerous sweet and festive breads to experiment with.
I can't wait to try the Tsoureki Greek Easter bread - thankfully, the author gives us substitutions for the hard to find Greek spices mahlab and mastic (they cost a fortune on Amazon!!!) I love almond and anise, so no hardship for me! The Pumpkin Pie Bread, with all those amazing spices, is next on my "Must Try" list.
There are recipes for Challa, Panettone and Portuguese Sweet Bread (although my mother would have turned up her nose at that one - no bread machine shortcuts for her!!!). There are breads with seeds, cheese, wild rice and even Potato Herb bread! How about instant breakfast in a Cheesy Bacon Bread loaf?
I would love to have my very own autographed copy of this book!!!! The photographs are inspiring: such simple recipes produced THOSE wondrous works of art!?! I was so happy to see this book on offer on NetGalley. I regularly whip up a batch of basic bread dough in my Breville bread machine, then I roll it into a baking pan and finish it off in my convection oven. If you don't have a bread oven, a convection toaster oven is the next best thing, in my humble opinion!
I'm giving this fabulous cookbook devoted to one of my favourite foods a solid 5 out of 5 rating. Get your own copy, take your bread machine out of storage and see how easy it is to make these artisan loaves!
So helpful when looking to create artisan bread. I usually try the handmade way first but never have luck which is why the machine comes so in handy.

One of the most amazing things, i really love to do is baking, the smell that surrounded all the kitchen made me happy.
Baking is reminded me always of my Grandma, she always say that home is not smell baking is not a home, i really miss her and her recipes.
This book is so good, i really loved it, it full of recipes that i will try one day.
Making Artisan Breads in the Bread Machine by Michelle Anderson has a great selection of breads for any occasion, easy to follow and easy to make. .
Like many, I have a bread machine. I have sometimes used it a lot and I had not done so lately. This book was a nice opportunity to enjoy baking again but without creating this square lump that comes out of the bread machine.
I found the first part of the book very informative, even for someone familiar with the bread machine. The book contains many interesting details on ingredients, on different bread machines and techniques, but also tips about baking at high altitude or gluten free baking.
The range of recipes given is nice, all using a limited range of natural ingredients in the spirit of artisan baking. I tried some recipes and had varying degrees of success, but bread making is an art so I will make more experiments to tune the recipes to my machine and my ingredients.
I enjoyed this book and found it very useful, with clear explanations and good tips. I think it would have been nice to have more pictures of the techniques used to work with the bread outside the machine,

. I’ve been looking for a book like this as I’ve never used a Bread Machine before and previous bread baking attempts have failed. I’m hoping that I can get the freshly baked bread I’ve been hoping for with my new machine and this book. The recipes are what you expect from a book like this and the layout is user friendly and pictures plenty and well positioned. My only complaint is that there is a lot of waffle that unless your truly enthusiastic is a waste of pages and the book seemed to lack some soul that I have had with other cooking books. It’s well worth the money though and there are a lot of recipes to try.
I love making bread, but do stick to a couple of favourite recipes, so this book was a great opportunity to expand my repertoire. There is a good range of recipes in this title and they are presented in an easy to follow format. The book starts with a good explanation about bread making and the basic ingredients and equipment required, which makes this a great title for beginners. There are plenty of recipes that I would like to try though I would like to have seen more photos of the finished products to help me decide which to try first.
These recipes are wonderful! My son has been wanting to learn how to make fancy breads in our bread maker for a while now, so it was a no brainer to get this book when I saw it. We started making breads together. He's 13, so that tells you how clear the instructions for the recipes are. Really well explained. And for the most part, what we have made has come out at least very close to what the author says.
The only thing I was kind of surprised that there weren't as many pictures. It's more like a menu, with a few pictures each section. I really like recipe books that have many more pictures. I like to be able to see what the recipe is supposed to look like before I make it--both to see if it's appetizing and to see if mine turns out like theirs! The pictures that are used are beautiful, I just wish there were more.

Anyone who uses their automatic bread machine often probably knows that the dough function is a great time and energy saver. Although loaves turn out well when baked in some machines, it’s more fun to shape your dough and bake it in conventional pans or free-form. And since artisan breads are a big trend, Making Artisan Breads in the Bread Machine: Beautiful Loaves and Flatbreads from All Over the World is a great cookbook to add to your collection. The author, Michele Anderson, has not only included simple artisan bread that is similar to that at fancy bakeries and higher end grocery store bakeries, but also loaves from all over the world. She obviously has a good imagination, and it’s difficult to go through the book without having trouble deciding which loaf to make next.
The variety of bread recipes is amazing, and having already tried a few, I found that they are easy to follow and turn out picture perfect. There are photographs of most of the breads, and the best thing about those pictures is that they are of finished products that may not be perfect such as a food stylist might shoot, but they look like they came out of a real kitchen.
There are recipes for white breads, whole grain breads, bagels, and rolls. There are recipes for Italian breads, German breads, and others from all over the world. The best part is that the dough is made in the bread machine and then most loaves are shaped and baked in a conventional oven. However there are also some that can be done right in the bread machine from start to finish.
Anyone who wants to utilize their automatic bread machine will find themselves using this excellent cookbook almost every day.

What an incredible resource for bread machine owners--and a book to inspire people to buy a machine, too!
I am incredibly picky about cookbooks. If I'm squeezing one onto my shelf (and yes, I do prefer physical form for cookbooks), it had better have a lot of recipes to make it earn its keep. I wasn’t far into the ebook galley of this new release when I knew this one was well worth buying for my shelf.
I bake most all of my own bread and have for years. Though I use my KitchenAid and food processor for some recipes, using the dough setting on my bread machine is my favorite for sheer convenience. I often try to modify recipes for that method, which usually turns out well but takes some extra effort. This book makes everything super easy with a variety of yeast bread recipes, from basic sandwich bread to sweet brioche to numerous sourdough breads to baguettes to cheesy bread.
The first few chapters provide easy-to-understand information on the science of bread-making, basic ingredients, and troubleshooting tips. That leads into the heart of the book: the recipes. They are arranged in a bread machine-friendly way, with liquids listed first in the ingredients. All of the steps and tips are straightforward from there. Most of the recipes use the machine to conveniently mix and raise the dough, with the baking done in the oven.
I am really looking forward to baking my way through this book!
For me, the best part of this book is the tone of the writing. Totally down-to-earth, never mind that the author is someone with extensive experience as a chef. I like the practicality of using the bread machine and yet still taking time to explain the science behind breadmaking.

This is a great book. I can't wait to dust off my bread maker and give some of these delicious looking recipes a go. Like many I got a bit bored of my usual bread recipe, and my bread maker has been in the cupboard ever since. This book has definitely renewed my passion and given me lot of new ideas to try out.

There’s nothing like the aroma of homemade bread baking in the oven. I’ve made bread from scratch off and on for decades, and lately using my bread machine. The recipes in this book are relatively easy to follow. Creating the bread in the machine keeps the incidents of failure down. I’ve certainly had my share of failures before I began using this machine. This cookbook is wonderful and what I consider essential as other cookbooks let me down in explanations and accuracy of the recipes. And as I write this, I’m inspired to go buy ingredients to begin a starter as well as some rapid-rise yeast for Focaccia Bread. Yum. I can smell the bread baking now.
