Description
Gods and monsters need a place to call home too...
Hidden among the huddling masses and the waves of refugees lies a strange and sinister sight. Creatures from the olde world, searching for refuge and dreaming of new lives in Canada. But what will they find in the bustling cities and wild expanses? How will ancient beasts and archaic magic mix with a planet that left them far behind?
Inside this collection of paranormal short stories, you’ll explore the beasts and creatures that lurked in the shadows of the ancient cities and wilds of ages past. As they settle in Canada and embark on their new lives, you’ll witness their attempts to adapt to the new world they’ve been thrown into, struggling to adjust to life in a modern, magic-free world.
Imbued with magical realism and a passion for the paranormal, this wonderful collection by C.M.Hindmarsh is a must-read for fans of the supernatural.

I do love a good spooky short story book and although I loved the stories in this collection and really enjoyed them, there were a few loose ends that need to be sorted out. For one, I found that the stories were heavily focused on sex and sexual content, which the spooky stories really didnt need to build atmosphere or thrill. I didnt understand why it was added except that it is a book meant for an adult audience.
I also noticed alot of spelling and grammar mistakes in every short story. Although this didnt distract from the stories, I really dont think a published book should have that many mistakes. This even goes down to the fact that speech marks are incorrect in every statement.
I really did love the stories and found this book to be really good overall.
Awesome collection of short stories! While this is listed under "horror, it is not typical to what one imagines as horror. These are all much more clever than than that. We find that monsters need to eat, like gifts, have empathy and want to help and sometimes want to take. Sometimes monsters accept change, sometimes they resist. I guess they're just like us.
My favorite story was probably Double Dog Dare. This one was pure magic played on the face of a broken mirror. Brilliant!
If you're looking for blood, guts and axe wielding killers then keep looking. If you're in the mood to feed your imagination then look no further than #TheForgotten by C.M. Hindmarsh Thank you #netgalley for the chance to read and review this ARC.
Thanks to Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. Wow. This was a really great collection of tales of folklore. I enjoyed them because most involved myths or legends I had never heard before. The author tells a story that will creepy you out and is very much believable. The first one, being my favorite. I hope to read so much more by this author. Have recommended this book to all my horror loving friends in my Facebook groups, Insta, and Twitter.
This is a fantastic, boxed set with an abundance of very unique tales that each immediately drew me in. Weird, quirky and eerie – all in the best of ways.
