Description
Something extraordinary hides beneath Wickwood’s picturesque façade… and this time it’s not staying buried.
Stella Campfield might be having a string of bad luck, but she has her witch's intuition telling her it will turn around. That is until her best friend accidentally opens a portal to another dimension!
When the police arrive, she’s dismayed to learn the officer she’s been obsessing over is on the case. As an energy reader, she’s drawn to him like no other, but she can’t explain why.
And that changes everything.
When Lucas Martinez ends up on the alluring lady’s doorstep because of a noise disturbance call, he is unexpectedly pulled into the world of the paranormal.
Burn marks on the floor and floating books? Nothing is as it seems.
As his attraction for the secretive witch grows, and as he digs into the mysteries surrounding her, he’s even more convinced Stella is at the center of it all.
Can the unlikely pair learn to trust each other or will the sinister forces surrounding them tear their burning romance—and the world—apart?

Although I hadn't read Ghost of a Gamble, #1 in the series, I slipped right into this great series.
Small town Witch Stella has a lot on her plate. Her Grandmother's dementia, looking after her home, the business she runs with her bestie and now the financial mess she seems to have found herself in. Things are going a bit..weird, even by Stella's standards. The bank have somehow managed to get their hands on her Grandmothers house and are threatening to sell it! Why did her Grandmother take out a mortgage on a home that she owned free and clear? Did her dementia have something to do with it? or more likely, has someone used magic to disrupt their lives?
But there are further mysteries to be solved. There has been a rash of burglaries in Wickwood but nothing seems to be taken. Teenagers up to no good or magical mayhem? Lucas is determined to find out one way or the other. He can't understand the animosity towards Stella from his boss, who is also his uncle. He drafts in Stella when he becomes aware of her magical roots and together they are resolved to root out the rot in Wickwood.
Stella is a mix of sassy, feisty and lovable. Family is everything to her - whether blood related or found family. Lucas is protective, accepting and willing to trust that he may not have all the answers.
