I got this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!
Okay, I might be prejudiced, but I absolutely love books like this, and loved the past three books like this by the author that I've read as well! I think they are so fun and love the idea of children choosing their own story to tell. I also think this can be a GREAT tool for teachers, both when reading for their pupils but also for them to use when writing their own fiction stories! This provides a great framework for writing a story! I will use books like these so much when I'm done with my master's and can go out into schools!
The book has so many different paths, so that every child may find something that interests them! And the rep is good!
This book is a really cute way for kids to come up with ideas to write their own fairy tale. I especially liked how the small pictures were labeled with the words, so kids could make those connections. This would be great for those who “never have anything to write about”. I’d also like to use it as a whole class and give everyone the same details and see how all the stories are different.
Let's Tell a Story: Fairy Tale Adventure is such a delightful, fun idea, a story-building playground of a book rendered in brightly expressive illustrations. The concept is clever and cute - readers are given a prompt ("You're about to go on an adventure. Which one of these heroes do you want to be?") and a two-page spread of options (a mermaid, a dragon, a wicked witch, a good witch, a mouse, etc.). The book encourages readers to describe their choices in detail - what kind of personality does the character have? What can you see, hear, and smell in this scene? What does this character's voice sound like? There are so many options, and so many different ways a story could go, all in a classic fairy tale theme, that this book could be read and enjoyed again and again and again without any repetition. A whimsical, adorable way of encouraging creativity and imagination with little storytellers!
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group: Wide Eyed Editions for the advance review copy!
Remember the Choose Your Own Adventure books? This is an updated fairy tale version with lots of fun and wonderful illustrations and basic directions to fuel the imagination! It's kind of a never ending story because you can go back and design a whole new adventure over and over again. Loved it! Buy this for yourself!
I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions via NetGalley. Thank you!
I love these books and if you enjoy the You Choose series by Pippa Goodhart and Nick Sharratt, I think you will too. This book takes you through the features of fairy tales and asks you to create a story in stages, by choosing details from the different elements on each double page. There is so much choice and opportunity for discussion and the illustrations are really engaging. Definitely one to buy!
Let's Tell A Story: Fairy Tale Adventure encourages children to create their own story based on their choices from the fully illustrated book. Children choose their character, their clothing, sidekicks, where they will go, what they will do, etc. The illustrations/choices are really stunning and creative. All around, a very fun book to inspire kids to write their own fairy tale adventure.
Thank you Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions and NetGalley for providing this ARC.
This confused me a little, until I managed to find proof I was not seeing things. These books used to be called the 'You're the Hero' series, and the same creator had a pirate one and a jungle one, and they used to be with a different imprint in the same publishing house. The powers that be have changed the title to 'Let's Tell a Story', and moved them across the corridor – and to actually make any of this sound at all important it might be said that the new series title is a better fit. Previously they may have sounded like 'choose your own adventure' dramas, when what these books are are templates for our own imaginations, and this time we go right back to where it all began (well, perhaps not as far as when religions were being invented, but certainly to very old stories). Here, as before, we get copious double-paged spreads, and options to choose from – what do we want our hero to be doing, with whom, and what adversaries they'll face en route, and so on – and before long we've made one of many millions of hard-to-repeat stories. I don't remember the extra prompts that urge us to go so much further than the blatant box-ticking of the pages here, to fill our story out with description and dialogue, but either way, these books show how stories are constructed, and how simple choices when we have an imagination cannot help but have an impact on our own writing. And if this still fails to inspire, perhaps you've been nobbled by The Flea of Doom.
Looking for a creative way to get your littles involved in the art of story-telling? Look no farther than Lily Murray's new book, Let's Tell a Story: Fairy Tale Adventure. A treasure trove of colors and clever options, your little one will enjoy being able to take part in the story telling process. This is a great way to introduce younger readers to literary devices, classic stories and lots of fun.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions for my copy of Let's Tell a Story: Fairy Tale Adventure by Lily Murray in exchange for an honest review. It publishes March 2, 2021.
What a great book! I had the help of a 6 & 8 year old in the reading of this book, but honestly, I want to read it again myself to have my own adventure! This book is everything I would have wanted when I was a child, and I think it would make a great addition to any classroom or home library!
How amazing it would be to see this book in every elementary classroom in the world! What a beautifully illustrated companion to the often difficult creative writing process. Children who struggle to think creatively, and especially when asked to put their ideas down on paper, would greatly benefit from this detailed and thorough guide to creating fairy tales. This fourth grade teacher applauds your creation and will make plans to stock my schools’ shelves with this beautiful book.
This is another delightful and charming entry in a series that offers kids the chance to create their own story and adventure. There are colorful, detailed illustrations and choices to be made as kids see each two page spread. The book can be played with again and again using different characters, scenes, objects and more.
This entry is about fairy tales. Meet up with the Three Bears, a mean Prince or many others. As in all good fairy tales the book ends with choosing the end of the tale.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own.

From the illustrations to the detailed story building questions on each page, Wide Eyed Publishing has done it again by making a book that will continue to cultivate learning, curiosity, and storytelling in our little learners.
"Let's Tell a Story: Fairy Tale Adventure" will allow you and your littles to create your own fairy tales, build details, and build storytelling skills in readers of all levels.
Such a delightful book for children, filled with lots of different choices, and our favorite fairy tale characters that we all know and love.
Children will enjoy making different choices and coming up with a new story every time.
The illustrations are lovely, bright and colorful, which is sure to attract the children’s attention.
Definitely a great multi choice book that will make children’s imagination grow.
I would definitely recommend this book for children who enjoy stories and fairy tales and want to build up their creative writing skills.
Thank you to the publisher, the writer and NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader’s copy for an honest review.
The moment we finished reading this, My 3-year-old said, "Can we read it again? Because I really liked that!" I wasn't surprised. She loved picking out her characters for a journey. She loved talking about what she would bring with her on this journey. She loves telling me why each magical home was the better home to live in.
This book leaves a lot to the imagination, and is a great book for interaction between parent and child. This is a unique concept that we definitely enjoyed.
This is such a great book! I cannot wait to purchase these for my future children! Such an interesting format and wonderful talking points to begin a story.
My family loves this new series! Similar to the Space Adventure, this fun concept book allows your little reader to make their own story using the characters, places, and surprises in the story. Filled with fun for years and years, Fairy Tale Adventure (and the new series of adventure books) is a journey you and your little ones will love.
Another great title from Quarto that lets young readers create their own fairy tales through question prompts and pictures. Super fun!

Thanks to the author, Quarto Publishing Group – Wide Eyed Editions, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I wish I have this kind of book growing up. While younger me would want to be a princess, but I think being a good witch or a troll has it merit. Then I get to choose my outfit. Here I found that this book is also favorable for kids who are learning english. After that, I have to choose with whom would I go to my destined place. So fun!
This book will help your children's imagination go wild. They can create unimaginable stories even strange to their own side, but fun. After a story is done, they can start another amusing one.
This is a hundred stories within one illustrated book. The stories change with each telling because it unfolds with the “reader.” On each page an element of a traditional fairy tale begins with a question. For example, what type of hero are you? Where is your destination? Which three items will you take with you? What danger will you face? You can tell a story, write a story, or imagine it instead. Each page is filled with fun and brightly colored objects, people, and places to select from. The story unfolds page by page as the reader make another choice to bring the story to life. It is a wonderful tool for parents who are running out of bedtime stories; and a powerful way to enhance creativity, imagination, and language skills in children. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to share story narrative and structure whether teacher, librarian, parent, storyteller, or child.
I received an eARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This easy to use guide book will help young and new writers to come up with fun fairy tale's of their own. It has helpful questions to guide the writer through their narrative, helping them to decide the course of their story. I think that this would be a great addition to most English classrooms and young writing groups.
Loved the illustrations.
However, I wish that I had received a physical copy instead of a digital copy of this beautiful book because I am not sure how to read this illustrated children's book in choosing your adventures digitally.
I would have given this Five Stars if I could read the physical copy.
Thank you to the publisher for granting my request to read the beautiful novel.
'Let's tell a story! Fairy Tale Adventure' is a build your own story book. I love the creativity behind this book and each page has so many different prompts to cultivate your adventure. There are easily thousands of different stories that can be created. Its a fun book and both parents and children can let their imagination run wild and be creative in their adventure.
This is such a fun series! It walks the reader through writing a fairy tale adventure, with helpful prompts throughout to give the reader ideas for what story elements to include. I was a wicked witch, traveling with my trusty goat through the dark woods, over the troll bridge, and into the snow-capped mountains in search of the goblin cave. Fortunately, I had a map, along with my spellbook, and a pen and ink. When I arrived, I was greeted by a toad. I shared my meal of witch's stew made with fresh forest mushrooms with him, and he warned me of the mischievous imp who would try to lead me astray, but I found the goblin library and scored a lifetime's worth of books to take back to my treehouse in the woods. What sort of adventure would you have?

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* THIS IS SO COOL!! would have loved to have this book when i still babysat i love it, love the idea, love the artwork its great!
I enjoyed this quick and fun read, well, choice-making process as I journeyed through the pages of very many fairy tales each time I went from Once Upon to The End. You start off by picking who you want to be, pick out costumes and companions, and then set out to seek adventures, defeat villains, and celebrate. And you do it all over again, each time a little bit differently!!
And I believe you can sneak in quick math lessons if you are reading to your little adventurer. Mind-boggling math about permutations and combinations, of course, but you could certainly attempt it if you wish!!
Definitely a book that will ignite imaginations and curiosity – for both story telling and at the wonder that is math! A suggestion would be to have the kids expand upon each (or some of these) and maybe help them write those stories down! It will also help in both reading and writing skills in a fun way. They could also illustrate it using the help of already existing illustrations in this beautiful book.

This book is perfect for a writing workshop. I read it with my daughter who has an awesome imagination. She had fun picking the elements of the story. Gives lots of ideas for an endless amount of stories. I am exited to check out other books by the author.
With this book, you have many different stories to choose. As a child, those types of books always fascinated me. And, now as a mother, I tend to look for these types of books for my own children.
I would definitely buy this book for a child as this can become quite an useful tool to show him/her the fun of reading.
What a cute book! I like being able to look at books ahead of time like this to see if I want to buy a copy for my preschool class books. I know that my preschoolers and the school-age kids will love looking through this book and creating their own stories. My preschoolers love telling me stories all the time and I know that they would love using this. I know I would have loved this as a kid. I will definitely be picking this up for the kids.
