Description

Stranded on an island with the very person she was trying to escape...

The plan was easy: quit working for her overly demanding, overly ambitious, annoyingly handsome boss and launch her own career.

Before she can tell her boss to take his job and shove it, Charlie Middleton loses her dear aunt, and inherits her treasured Scottish cottage. Devastated, Charlie jet-sets across the Atlantic to a remote island off the Scottish coast, seeking to clear her mind and fortify her resolve to take charge of her future.

Lachlan Hart, tech genius and founder of a multi-million-dollar artificial intelligence company, discovers his reliable assistant has abruptly resigned. Feeling abandoned and lost without the woman who kept his life running like a well-oiled machine, he chases after her to bring her back.

When he arrives in the island village, Charlie is outraged at the invasion of her privacy and disgusted by his lack of boundaries. But amid a heated argument, they miss the last ferry off the island, stranding them in the storm of the century. Seeking shelter in the crumbling cottage, Charlie and Lachlan fight for survival, while wrestling a surge of newfound attraction.

Battling an onslaught of wind, rain, and rising storm surge, Charlie and Lachlan find the piece of themselves they’d lost—in each other.

Charlie Middleton is sick and tired of working for her workaholic boss, Lachlan Hart. She just wanted some peace of mind to purse her dreams and passions. Instead, life deals her with a devastating blow with the death of her loving aunt. Charlie travels to an isolated island to pick up the pieces of her life and reset her priorities, free from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. She just wanted some peace and quiet but clearly that was too much to ask because her boss pursues her and refuses to leave her alone.

Lachlan is a man who is used to getting what he wants in life. This is why he refuses to accept that his skilled assistant
is quitting. What started as a bid to get their lives on track turns into a soul-altering attraction that no one was prepared for. Their connection is forged in a literal storm where they have to rely on each other to survive.

Sofia Sawyer depicts the relationship between Charlie and Lachlan realistically as they slowly learn how to find love in a hopeless situation, building a strong foundation for their relationship. I loved this book and I can't wait to read more books from this author.

This story by Sofia Sawyer was a romantic story that is based on an office romance between a tech mogul and his assistant. I'll be honest, I was sold on this book when I first saw that it takes place on the Scottish coast. Give me a story in a destination setting like this anyday and I'm all over it! I really enjoyed this story overall. It was kind of a short book, but it was full of all the feels. The setting was dreamy, even though it takes place during a storm. This was my first book by this author, but I would love to read more of her writing!

This was such a fun quick read! Charlie has been working for Lachlan for 3 years, the longest he has ever had an assistant for. But as the years went on she has put his needs before her own, and now is tired of it. She longs for some me time, a relationship and a new career that doesn't depend on her 24/7. Lachlan is doing everything to grow his company, but in doing so he has taken thing and people for granted. He doesn't realize just how much until Charlie resigns. But he isn't ready to let Charlie leave and so chases her via a transatlantic flight and causes them to be stranded on an island during a huge storm.

I absolutely loved their playful banter and that Lachlan explained his thinking so that Charlie could understand him deep down. This took the book to a deeper level, and really fleshed out the book for me. I really enjoyed this book, but wish the ending would have given us an epilogue. I am a sucker for them and wished we could see what happens in their future.
