Such a cute book that’s wonderfully illustrated! I think the message of controlling your emotions is such an important one!
4.5 stars
This is my second “Little Faces” book, and I cannot wait for the other ones! I wonder if Monkey and Elephant will make an appearance in future books!
I am in love with Hanako Clulow’s illustration – it is cheerful, uplifting and fun. Madden story of a dragon with big emotions is amazing! This is a great book to talk to children about different emotions and how to manage them. I loved the overall message of this book and already started thinking of ways to use this book as a starting point to emergent activities!

A lovely little board book with great illustrations that help portray the message about learning to control your fiery feelings.
The graphics are very well done in this children’s book. I loved the little details in the background and around the dragon.
A great way to help teach children how to control their feeling.
Thank you for the chance to review a copy of this book in exchange for honest feedback. The biggest strength of this children's book is its gorgeous illustrations. The story is a bit short and ends abruptly, however. I think the young readers will spend more time looking at the beautiful design on each page. The pages in which the animal friends are roasting marshmallows is my favorite. Really cute. The aim of this book was to help promote emotional intelligence and encourage creativity and imagination. I definitely think that this book achieves these aims, although I think it could've been maybe 1 or 2 pages longer.
This book uses fantastic illustrations of emotions for young children. I found myself wishing the book was longer!
The book touches on the importance of controlling your feelings - something most younger kids struggle with. The illustrations are beautiful and the interaction is darling! Overall, quick and sweet read with an importsnt message.
A young dragon has a bit of the fire hazard about him in this board book for the very young who hopefully don't. Making use of holes through the pages, and I guess some concertinaed sections that you get to change yourself (there's some interactive element at least, that doesn't exactly come through on a digital review copy), the visual aspect had to be strong by necessity – and is.
This is a really cute and well-illustrated baby book about emotions. I love the vibrancy of the illustrations and will definitely buy it for my nephew and recommend it to customers.
This was super quick and super cute! The art was beautiful and eye popping. Super super colorful and will easily catch a child’s eye and keep their attention.
I loved the different ways that kids are able to interact with this book— with dragon and his friends. Super cute! I’d definitely recommend this!
4/5 ⭐️
Dragon has some feelings that can be little harmful to his friends when he lets out the fire. A picture word book that helps with those feelings and the damage that it does. The illustrations go a long way to talk about how to diffuse and work those feelings out with friends.
A Special thank you to Quarto Publishing Group and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
This book is a perfect book for children, especially those children who may have some difficulty expressing their emotions, or those who become easily angry. Dragon (of the fire breathing type) has his friends coming to visit him. He becomes upset when his friend Monkey is being naughty, and starts to breathe fire. His friend Unicorn prompts him to breathe calmly, and Dragon regains control of his fire and becomes more calm.
This book would be good for most children, especially younger ones, who need to learn skills to calm down (such as belly breathing, etc.) This teaches the skill of deep breathing as a calming tool, in a way that will be more easily learned and maintained by tiny people with often large emotions.
My toddler loved the pictures and the message, and this is definitely a book I would continue to read to young people, especially ages 2-5.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A wonderful book for younger readers that would be perfect for teaching self regulation. At the beginning we see that dragon is unable to control his excitement and makes everything smoky around him while waiting for his friends. His friends finally arrive and then one is being naughty which makes dragon so angry that he blows fire.
I like how this book showed his group of friends helping him deal with his anger. It was great to see that the unicorn took the role of a leader in the group and told him to calm down and then the rest of the friends followed suit and they all practiced deep breathing. This would be a great book to read and discuss and then to have the students role play the story to help them understand self regulation and how then can help step up to help their friends with self regulation as well.
Meet dragon and his friends in this boardbook as they work together to help dragon through some big feelings. It's adorable and perfect for the young dragon fans in your life! Sliding scene changes and bright colors keep this book fun and make it a sure fire reread!
Little Faces: Be Careful, Dragon! is a great book to teach very young children about controlling their emotions. The smoke from the dragon gives a really clear indicator of strong emotions so the children reading know when he needs to calm down. The art was cute as can be and my youngest loved it.
This book is a wonderful way to teach kids how to self regulate. Little dragon has a problem with anger and when he gets riled up his solution is to breathe fire into the situation. These strong feelings can actually be harmful to his friends. Those same friends realize the danger and Unicorn steps in and guides Dragon through some deep breathing techniques to calm him down. Through reading and conversing small children can learn to pull back, breathe in deeply and gain control of their emotions once more too.
Kids will see the positive change in Dragon and its consequences to those around him and to himself. Kids will be encouraged to use the same skill in their own lives to help them cope when things get heated up. The kid-friendly illustrations are colourful, engaging and fun due to Venetian paper technology which animates each scene. Kids will love interacting with the story. I highly recommend this book.
This was a cute book. It was short but my 2 year old seemed to enjoy it. The graphics are really good. The book is about dragon learning to control his feelings.
I was provided with an eARC of this book in exchange for a fair review.
This was such a fun book, and my little one was fascinated with the colorful, vibrant, illustrations. I suspect we will be adding this one to our physical book collection!
This lovely, short board book follows a dragon playing with his friends and learning to control his emotions. This book encourages emotional intelligence and encourages calm ways to problem solve and handle anger and frustration. This is a great addition to any little library!
I wish I'd had a physical copy of this book in my hands! It's a very cute story about controlling your temper that would appeal to (and be appreciated by) the toddler to early preschool set. The illustrations are fabulous and I love the peek a boo holes!
Sweet and beautifully illustrated book for little dragon lovers. It's definitely one the kids want to read again!
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.
