A cute, short book that shows younger children that to have good friends, you need to be a good friend in the first place.
Lovely book with a lovely message, and lovely illustrations too.
My favorite quote out of this book was “When we share happiness with our friends, we end up with more than we had in the beginning.” It had quite a few other good quotes too! The illustrations were great, and I loved the story.
A super sweet story filled with adorable artwork! The perfect short lil read that touches on friendship!
*Thanks Netgalley and Wide Eyed Editions for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
This is such a sweet book! The animal illustrations are cheerful and gently appealing. The text itself celebrates friendship in a way that both children and adults could benefit from remembering. Read this one with a child you know. Both you and they will embrace its important, loving message.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
This is a good book to read to young children. The illustrations are simple but will probably appeal to preschoolers, and the message of how one needs to be a good friend in order to have good friends is important and universal. My one criticism is the text. It’s a bit difficult to read due to the odd placement and small size.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
An adorable book about friendship for young kids. It's a good starting point to introduce children to being a good friend, understanding empathy, and accepting their feelings. I loved the woodland critter illustrations.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.
People feel all different kinds of emotions and feelings and sometimes need a friend. The best way to get a friend is to be a friend.
I don't know squat about this author except that she (or maybe he!) draws and illustrates a treat, and presents us with a cute chubby Little Brown Bear who happily goes through life being a friend, helping out, and passing on and learning lessons. As the description has it, friendship is both a gift and a skill and this book helps youngsters to discover how to offer the one while picking up the other. I commend this as a worthy read.
AnneliesDraws’ It’s OK to Need a Friend is an adorable and easy read with charming vintage artwork and an enduring message.
Little Brown Bear along with other adorable woodland animals gently teach readers all about the joys of friendship and learning how to be a good friend. It’s important to realize that friendship is a skill. In order to have good friends, you must also be a good friend. Friends help and uplift each other while also being respectful and accepting of each other’s differences.
I like the simplicity and straightforwardness of this book. The book’s messages are perfect for all ages! Being kind and understanding to others while also learning how to be a good friend are absolutely timeless lessons that everyone can benefit from.
The short and clear sentences are easy-to-read and very approachable for young readers. I like that the writing deftly avoids being saccharine or preachy. Instead, the book gently and simply teaches readers about empathy, kindness, and being a good friend.
The full-coloured and full-page vintage illustrations are lovely! They are so cute and will definitely appeal to young readers. This book really reminds me of the ones I read in my childhood. I just feel so happy looking at every single page! I love the softly coloured fun outdoor scenes. The different seasons are rendered so prettily. The little animals have friendly and happy faces with such adorable cheeks.
It’s OK to Need a Friend is a sweet and poignant picture book for young readers. AnneliesDraws’ art is lovely and I am so excited to see more from her!
