Description

Myth of Power is the second installment of the Realm of Areon book pentalogy.

War is on the horizon.

As Rudi and his friends head for Summerhold, the Prince tests his limits as a leader and a newborn Evolutionary. But when they arrive, they encounter something sinister and elusive and must work together if they are to survive.

Meanwhile, Kelbain attempts to forge an alliance that will grant him the upper hand in the war. Before he can make his move, a legend of ghosts and phantoms stands in his way. To the West King, it is only an obstacle that must be burned to ashes.

As Thasus attempts to halt a civil war in the North, and Andemar stumbles upon further secrets hidden throughout his family, only time will tell if the power to turn the tide exists, or if it is just another myth.

Advance Praise

Ok so let me start by saying that I LOVED the first book and finished it after reading it for 8 hours straight! This 'sequel' book is like Godfather II or Empire Strikes Back because it is actually better than the first! The storytelling is fantastic and so descriptive that you can picture everything in your mind, the action keeps you at the edge of your seat as if you were watching a movie and the fleshing out of the characters and their development throughout keeps you rooting for some and definitely jeering some others. The attention to detail and 'callbacks' to the first book shows that not only is the author fully invested in these characters and the Realm of Areon but cares enough to make sure the readers enjoy the ride just as J.K. Rowling did for us with Harry Potter or George R.R. Martin did with the Seven Kingdoms and houses like the Starks. If you haven't read Genesis of War, DO IT so you can jump into this awesome sequel ASAP! —Amazon review

The second installment of the Realm of Areon gives you everything you want and more. Developing a fully encompassing world with deep storylines of lineage, love and war, it’s an incredible ride. Shining through with thrilling conflicts and heartfelt adventures, I never wanted it to end. I’m so excited to find out what’s going to happen next in this awesome new series. If you're a fantasy fan this series is a must read! —Amazon review

Like its predecessor Genesis of War this is an ensemble piece that keeps keeps the readers attention by jumping to different characters and the situations they find themselves in. The newly, self crowned King of the West, Kelbain is marching forwards ostensibly to gather allies but ultimately to control and rule. Three young Princes meantime also have missions to perform that will hopefully unite the Kingdom's and topple Kelbain. Kelbain has immense powers but he is not the only powerful Sage and with treachery happening in different places who will survive right now is anyone's guess !
Just as entertaining as the first book but this time the author upped the ante with answers to questions I had and even a touch of Norse mythology. There are new characters to either cheer for or despise depending on your point of view but this was a worthy second in the series and I look forward to reading the next instalment.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
