An interesting story with a wounded, tortured hero and a soft-hearted heroine, “Addicted to Love”, by Jennifer Wilck (Wild Rose Press), addresses very serious and real life issues of loss, loneliness, mental health and single parenting.
Set in Manahattan and New Jersey – characters in their own right – the story features a wounded hero dealing with physical and psychological issues and, sure, it’s sexy watching him battling them and trying to provide a normal life for his sweet teenage daughter.
I liked the heroine and how the author wrote about her career. The relationship of both main characters with the teenager was sweet and heartwarming as was the portrayal of Hannah’s small family.
I liked the story, the characters and their backgrounds, the setting, but it didn’t excite me. I had a hard time understanding some of Dan’s fears and so his behavior seemed sometimes immature (for a 39 year-old) or melodramatic.
Hiding his secret from Hannah for so long annoyed me, since the lack of communication was keeping them apart.
This is an insta-love story, so things evolve rather quickly between Dan and Hannah, but I still felt there wasn’t enough build-up to the romance.

Loved this love story. I found myself rooting for the main characters even at their every misstep. Even when they both got in the way of each other.
